Friendly & responsive staff, strong Aloha spirit. However, the place is dated, ie still popcorn ceilings. Need pest control
(roaches), asked us to take shoes off but floor carpet felt uncomfortably moist, couldn’t really decide the cleanness of carpet due to color, bathroom smells odd, slippery bathtub, low shower pressure. The room itself needs air freshener. No beach towels, they supply only bath towels
1/person no extras. You have to exchange if you want new ones. Low quality paper towels, toilet paper. Oven but no bake pans. Improvised using mixing bowls that were heat tolerant up to 400degF
We’ll choose another place to stay next time. This was our first time in Kauai. The island is very relaxing & beautiful. We missed some spots.
Tip: if you are costco member go there soon as possible, they may have deals for tours. Wish we did, we could have gone on helicopter or boat charter for reasonable rates. Poipu beach, Kauai coffee, beer, chocolates were a hit with our family.

Our room was just as I hoped! Everything that it said it would be. It was PERFECT!
I was skeptical before I got there due to reading bad reviews. People expect the rooms to be like the expensive resorts around the island.Well the reason I chose The Plantation Hale Suites is because it fit my budget! I was so pleased with our week long stay that I want to spread the word!!
The front desk was available and friendly. If we needed anything they would direct us. It is conveniently located to everything. Yes it is near the road but so is everything else. It is a nice place to stay. Older but nice. Pools ,hot tub and laundry rooms. It is your own large one bedroom apartment. Everthing you need inside. Bbq outdoors and picnic tables too.Furniture is retro Hawaiian. I would definitely recommend this place. It is Kauai style!

The room was nice and clean. Front Reception was great and I’m glad she gave me a king rather than two double beds, which was my vault when booking. More comfortable….thank you!

To be honest it was a little outdated however, in a great location...walk to path to watch the sun come up !! Walk to Sheraton or Lava Lava and Longs drugs!!

Got off of work excited to go to my room jump in the shower and just relaxed
But when I turned on the water and let it run. It didn't get hot so I went to caretaker of property and he tells me I need to wait until the morning. It's morning and I still have no hot water to shower with

A day before we were to arrive on Kauai we received a notice from the resort we had booked, that they would not be able to accommodate our reservation due to maintenance issues. We booked Plantation Hale Suites as it was the only available option we could find the day after Christmas and the day before we were to arrive! While the resort was pretty well kept, clean, service outstanding and location great, the facilities certainly show their age. Mainly the cooking appliances in the kitchen, the sofa bed and the bathroom. Range/oven seemed to have 2 settings, high or off. Microwave could hardly melt butter. And pretty sure I slept on that sofa bed at my grandmother's house in 1980 before she got rid of it. We were certainly grateful we had the place to stay given the circumstances, but not quite up to our usual standards. In terms of lodging, Think more Super 8 when we try to shoot for the Hampton or Holiday inn level. For price comparison, it was a few hundred dollars more last minute than the 2 bedroom oceanfront condo we had booked 7 months prior. Overall though it kept us from having to cancel our trip and served the purpose.

Only thing I didn’t like was the laundry app was difficult but I must say the office is really responsive. That made things better with the service we had it was great!

Photos are deceiving as it shows hotel is on the beach and clearly is it not accessible to the beach.

Property is conveniently located near a market, restaurants, and other stores. Our room had a kitchen including quality cookware. There was also a nice sized balcony. No a/c in the living room, only in the bedroom. Upon arrival, the bedroom carpet was dirty with visible large pieces of dust and debris including broken glass. The property was made aware of this but failed to send someone to clean the bedroom during our entire stay.

We arrived 2 hours early and the receptionist was able to provide us a room right away. We were very tired from our trip it was very nice that she was able to let us check in early.

I did not realize how large the area was. There is about 4 two story units with 3 pool locations. Close to Coconut Market, with various shops and eateries.
Accommodation are fair for the price. The only negative I have is the A/C in the bedroom was too loud. I had difficulty falling asleep.

The room smelled like old lady and dog pòop.
This was an extra room I rented to get away from the group I was with at the Sheraton.
The smell would not go away and followed me when left the room.
I wasted money here. I could not stay in the room longer than an hour. Absolutely the worst smelling room ever.
I could not believe the reception rented me this room. Thank God I still shared a room at the Sheraton.
I had high hopes for that place. I'm disgusted with reception. The experience was awful.
I would not let my dog sleep in thst room.
The smell was toxic.
I've never had to write a bad review like this until now.

Booked 2 double beds. Got to the room was a king and pull out sofa. Went to the front desk and asked about the change. She said there was nothing they could do. They’re sold out and I’m lucky to get that room.

After reading other peoples reviews, i tried to take it with a grain of salt. But after getting into our room it truly was disgusting and how everyone else had described it. Cockroaches in the bathroom, lights in our room didnt work, the ceiling was caked in dust, we asked for a king bed and got 2 doubled which wasnt the end of the world. The shower curtain bar was half off the wall, the sliding doors didnt lock. There was actual poop on our floor. I can handle an older hotel but this place was truly not taken care of and they are charging the same price as similar hotels which are way nicer. We luckily found another hotel after oje night of sleeping there and they gave us a partial refund.

We booked a pool view room, but when we arrived, one not available. It took 2 nights out of 7 for them to find a pool view room, but the pool wasn’t in view because of the over grown bushes around the pool area where the doom was. The manager did give us a refund adjustment but we didn’t receive until we had an argument about the reservation, and until we had left the island.

Room and bathroom were very dirty. Someone’s hair was all over the shower when we checked in

I attempted an early check-in at around 10 am since my flight was very early. However, there were no available rooms until the standard check-in time at 4 pm, which is understandable (though a bit later than other hotels). The girl at the front desk, unfortunately, I didn't get her name, was very kind and accommodating. So, I decided to spend some time at the beach until check-in.
But when I returned around 4:45 pm, there was a different front desk attendant, I believe her name is Alana. She informed me that my room was still not ready and couldn't provide an estimated time, even approximate time. I was exhausted from my flight and beach day, and I had hoped to get my room by at least 4:30. I was quite disappointed with the hotel's lack of management in this regard. Furthermore, Alana's attitude was unprofessional and cold, lacking any apology or sympathy. She simply stated, 'We have a high volume of customers today.'
Supposedly, she was supposed to call me when the room was ready, but I received no call by 5:30 pm. So, I returned to the front desk, where she finally issued the room key. Again, no apology, no 'sorry for the inconvenience,' or even polite conversation. She handed me the room key without a smile. Honestly, the hotel should consider letting her go, as she seems unhappy working there and doesn't know how to communicate with customers.
Additionally, the room itself was quite dated, with several broken and worn-out fixtures.

The property has bed bugs and me and the whole family got a rash from this.

This is an older property and the wear definitely shows. It was clean and the staff and other residents are friendly. However, the AC unit and vent had not been cleaned in a long time—launched a full allergy attack for me. So this property might be a great fit for some, but if you have allergy issues you might want to consider staying elsewhere. Great central location if your priority is to stay by the airport.

The air conditioner is a loud in-wall unit that has no thermostat. If you turn it off, it's too hot and humid (this is Kauai). If you leave it on, you need blankets. Terrible. The cable TV didn't work, the phone to front desk didn't work, the chain on the ceiling fan broke, and there was a cockroach on the ceiling in the bathroom. Just terrible. There are 3 other properties nearby that are much better for the same price.

Good for family stay...needs updated for the price.
Outdated carpet & cabintry...I've stayed here many times and looks exactly how it did 20 years ago...good friendly staff

Cons - very dated property, smells bad in the room, needs to be renovated immediately. Roaches in the bathroom!!! Killed a few of them
Too loud A/C! Again, needs to be replaced and renovated. The beach is not good around - small, windy, big waves.
Pros - parking availability, spacious room, friendly staff. Marketplace with a general store, and a few restaurants available (the food is not the best, but at least something).

Hotel was a little outdated and room's bathroom was the most noticeably run down/out dated part. Our check in was delayed a few hours due to them being short staffed and not able to clean the rooms in time for the advertised check-in time.
