After reading some of the reviews for this hotel, I won't lie, I kind of regretted my booking. However, upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was incredibly friendly to myself and my very busy sons(2 with Autism, 1 with ADHD). Every staff member met me with a smile, even housekeeping. The rooms were dated but clean and the beds were super comfortable. The only downside of the 2 rooms we booked, was that various outlets and lamps did not work. Minor in the grand scheme of things, really. The pool area was clean and the water was warm. The saunas being in the individual bathrooms is a bit inconvenient. The location could not get any better. The waterfront is a short walk with lots of excitement all around.

Ive always had great experiences here. Front desk is always keen to help, love the restaurant downstairs. It’s my go to hotel every time I have to return to Halifax. Great value for money and beds are comfy.

The lobby and elevator smelled of marijuana smoke and cigarettes smoke. The carpet had tears. Rooms were dated. Beds were small.

Dirty carpets in the room. The pool water was extremely cloudy and could feel a lot of debris on the floor of the pool.

The location is good, and the rooms are okay. Its a bit tired with a musty smell. The pool was disgustingly dirty, with rampant mold and mildew indicating it had not been properly cleaned in a very, very, long time. The parking situation is a bit awkward, with an entire page of details about how to access the parking (in a different building for their sister hotel). The staff were pleasant enough, the hotel just needs a proper cleaning and rooms to be refreshed.

I have booked this hotel for 5 days. Didn’t get parking. I have to walk to the parking lot daily and they charged me for each day. They didn’t tell me on the first day, then charged 120$ for parking. It is not convenient for the guest who comes from another place.

The staff was unprofessional and rude. Basic things was not provided for example slipers. We called thrice for that and we didn’t got that one. There was no response for that. Not a good experience over here. Not worth of price.

Hotel was clean, price was right, staff were very nice. Parking arrangement at the Scotia Square parkade is super sketchy. Saw random men just milling about, hiding in alcoves and watching you leave your vehicle, both when we arrived at 9pm and left at 6:45am. Would stay here again after finding a safer parking arrangement.

The space of my room was good, but I had an annoying family living next to the door, their kid shouting at 2 am, I talked to the front desk they did help but it didn't work. The facility is ok, but the pool was not as clean as I expected. I do suggest providing disposable slippers for the customer who doesn't have the habit of walking around with their bare feet.

Only point I would make was the room was HOT!! We turned the thermostat down to 16, and it took a day for the room to cool down. We had two rooms and the other was in the same condition.

Had a 2 day trip to Halifax and the Barrington was great all the way around. Walked to every meeting and bar/restaurant Needed help with computer/printing emergency at 5am and front desk went far and beyond to help Will be make go to every time in Halifax

It’s an older hotel but the beds are super comfortable and plush. Easy access to the mall, pretty central, good value for money. My checked in was a weird experience, she was aggressive when asking if my card was debit or credit , when I said credit she doubted it’ll work. ( I’ve been many many times as I’m back and forth a lot) The room was frigid. Two hours with the heaters on and nothing. Maintenance wasn’t on duty, and an alternate room was also just as cold. They brought up a fleece blanket which I guess helped since I fell asleep. My room wasn’t warm until 12 hours into the next day. After that, it was a very comfortable stay. I recommend this hotel despite this one off visit. They’re generally very quick at the front desk and very courteous.

Good property very cheap for being right downtown, will stay again in future if price is cheaper than most downtown hotels.. being attached to a lot of places as well not having to go outside is a huge plus
