Hotel Timbre Virtudes is a classic, beautifully decorated with history and modern comfort. It's conveniently located, about 10 minutes walking distance to the Douro River front. The room is comfortable and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend Timbre Virtudes and stay there next time in Porto.

The amazing part: Gorgeous place. Very historic. Super friendly staff. Close but not too close to everything. Loved the Virtudes garden above the hotel. Also best bed we’ve slept in in a long time.
The constructive criticism: The very thin walls between rooms was an unexpected frustration in such a nice place. Our fourth floor room was also right below the roof deck and the dragging around of chairs at midnight closing got quite loud. Buffet breakfast is good but not worth the high price tag. Airport and train station transfers arranged by the hotel are also overly expensive. Uber works great and very affordable - you just need to be able to walk the short distance from where Uber stops you off to the front door of the hotel.

Beautiful hotel and fantastic service. The food was great too. Just beware aware that most cars can’t drive to the front of the hotel as the road is very narrow and you have to drag (or carry) your bags 100 metres over an old cobblestone road. It adds to the experience but if you have heavy bags, it can be challenging.

Great place to stay for a long weekend in Porto. Everywhere was walkable. Hotel was beautiful, staff helpful and friendly and roof terrace lovely spot to relax with a drink.
