We stayed @ the property over Christmas! Loved the property & the location! I found the Shank’s to be the most accommodating hosts I have ever dealt with through VRBO. They went above & beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The property was very clean!! They allowed us to have an early check in & later check out, which was wonderful! We would have liked a little snow, but in lieu of that, we were able to enjoy a wonderful campfire after dinner on Christmas night after dinner, under a bright moon! Wonderful! Hope we can return again! I highly recommend this property!

We absolutely loved this property. We spent 10 glorious nights. The highlights of this property for our family would have been the screened in porch and ping pong table. Both were enjoyed for hours. We will definitely make a return visit to this “home away from home.” Bill and Doris are amazing hosts.

We enjoyed hiking down to pebble beach, swimming with our dog. Walked the riverfront park trail as well as 7 points marina. Watched deer come through the backyard every morning! Nice relaxing getaway!

Thank you so much for opening your home to us! Very spacious. The game room was a big hit, and the screened in porch area is a bonus for sure. All of the furnishings are top notch and comfortable. My 14year old grandsons enjoyed the early morning fishing just a short walk to the lake. Location was great for us and close to the Marina. We have already booked for next year!

We had a wonderful time at the Bear’s Den! Beautiful place that was very clean. We loved all the extras like the cornhole boards, firewood for the fire pit, cleaning supplies and just enough to get you started items. The pool table/ping pong table was a hit with everyone! The place is tucked away but a great location to the lake, kayaking and if you forget anything a grocery store is near by. Doris was great with communication prior to our visit and upon our arrival and departure. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful place!

Our family stayed here for Christmas weekend & we couldn't have asked for a better time. The cabin was beautiful & felt like home. Very clean. We took our dog & they had plenty yard to play in and run around. We loved being able to walk down to the lake & see the beautiful views. We will definitely book again. Can't wait to go back!!

Bear's Den felt more like a winter lodge in the mountains than a summer beach property on Raystown Lake. The house was perfect for our group. It was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped along with being a beautiful charming home. We always try to leave constructive helpful comments for the owner of the property but we could not come up with any suggestions for making Bear's Den any better than it is.

Bears Den was perfect! It’s comfortable, extremely clean and the location was quiet and peaceful ….just what my sons and I needed. We enjoyed our time away watching movies, playing pool and going to a couple local restaurants. They even ventured out in the cold to go fishing!
We are hoping to come back in the spring!

We went as a group of moms who needed a weekend away. This home was absolutely perfect! The cleanliness of the property was also outstanding. We couldn't find a spec of dirt anywhere. It's a quiet neighborhood and very well maintained. There were lots of activities at the home to keep anyone entertained. The homeowners messaged me to be sure we got there ok and let us know to contact them with any issues. The location is close to everything as well. 10 minute drive to Huntingdon or the 7 points area of Lake Raystown. The screened in porch was wonderful. We wished it would've been a little warmer for us to enjoy it more. We highly recommend this property!!!

Spent a long weekend with family at Bear’s Den and enjoyed it very much. The house was clean and the yard was lovely and lush. Location is close to town for your shopping or dining needs and close to 7points beach where we like to go. The owners were accommodating and quick to respond to my questions. I would recommend this home.

Wow! What an amazing place! It was located in a beautiful & quiet location. The house had plenty of room to spread out and relax. Our favorite spot was the screened porch. We ate out there, listened to the birds & watched the wildlife. Our dogs loved running around on the private lot. We enjoyed the lake every day. We advise you to drive down to the end of the road & then hike down to the lake. It is quite the workout walking down the path to the lake & back to the parking lot but so worth it. The lake was clear & clean, we wore ourselves & our Pupelpointer dogs out! We rented boards & kayaks from Portside rentals- they delivered to the house! We loved the convenience of town so close by- we walked around, got groceries, did coffee runs to the cute coffee shops & ate out. Thank you Doris for emailing us prior to our arrival to give helpful information & for texting to check on us after we arrived. Your kindness was greatly appreciated. Loved this place & look forward to returning!

Our family enjoyed a terrific week at the Bear's Den property and Raystown Lake area. The home is located on a northern finger of the lake about 12 minutes up to Huntingdon with restaurants, Meadows Ice Cream shop and stores or 15 min down to Seven Points Marina with a large park, visitor's center, boat launches, playgrounds, and public swimming beach. The Bear's Den is on a street that ends in a cul de sac with parking. Then you can walk 100 yds down a path to a small cove on the lake. The grassy area has some sand and is great for swimming, launching kayaks, and has additional paths that lead to other spots for fishing. On weekdays, the neighborhood is quiet and cove area is less crowded. This pet friendly home is appropriately named and exquisitely decorated in the 'bear' theme down to every detail. We enjoyed two floors of great living spaces plus a screened in porch. A well appointed kitchen had everything we needed from the basics to extras like a crock pot, mixing bowls, bakeware, and high end outdoor gas grill. The water has a slight sulphur odor. It is treated and safe. We prefer to use bottled water for drinking and cooking when we stay in the Raystown area. The outdoor property is beautifully landscaped and well maintained. There is a firepit (bring folding chairs), cut wood, and picnic table for use also some open lawn space for children to play. The Shanks provided brochures and a welcome notebook with info about the countless places to visit and things to do. Communication and check in/out was a breeze. Relax and enjoy the furniture, finishes and features of this home and the family fun the area offers.

Raystown Lake Getaway
The positive impression we received from the Bears Den listing was amply confirmed when we stayed there last week. There was plenty of room for our party of six adults. The kitchen was well stocked with every utensil and appliance we needed. We especially enjoyed hanging out on the enclosed porch. Just down the road was a quiet cove perfect for swimming. A perfect relaxing week!

Great family weekend!
As always, this property and the owners are great. Our first year traveling with a baby granddaughter (!) and space was very accommodating. A short walk to the lake for an evening swim!

Wonderful Stay
My family spent a few days at the Bear's Den while we fished in the area. The property is great for a group getaway, the home is well furnished and supplied. The neighborhood felt very private and secluded, yet it's just a ten-minute drive to Huntingdon. The property owners were very helpful and informative through the entire process.

An amazing getaway!
The Bears Den is a beautiful and impeccably clean property that sits in a quiet mountain neighborhood. The owners take pride in the upkeep of the home, and have gone to great lengths to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Attention to detail is amazing. We have been coming to this property for years, and have never had a bad experience!

Our stay at the Bears Den
I booked a fishing trip for the last week of May. We stayed at the Bears Den for the entire trip and were extremely satisfied. The photos can be a bit deceiving as we though the trail to the lake backed up to the house. It’s about a half mile walk down a steep hill then a half mile walk back up that steep hill. It was worth it for the privacy and the walk wasn’t to bad. We brought 2 dogs which really enjoyed having space to run and play! I would highly recommend the Bears Den!

Very nice nice and comfortable home. We enjoyed the solitude but I’m sure there is a lot more going on after May when the lake opens up more. Not as close to the lake as I thought and a bit of a hill. We enjoyed the bit of exercise it provided. We saw some deer on the property and deer and grouse on one walk to the lake. Overall a 5 star weekend for us.
