Black mold in holes of bathroom floor. Drafty, Windows, missing shingles on roof, stinky smell. Do not stay here if immunocompromised. if the house is ever tested for mold, it will fail miserably. Spend your money elsewhere!

We really likes the location of this home. Walkable to a lot of restaurants and close to all the attractions we wanted to check out. There were a few items that could have been improved that would have made it stellar. The beds were very soft and sagged towards the center which wasn't ideal for us. The window curtains were practically transparent letting in a lot of light in the morning and neighboring exterior lights at night. Communication with the owner also could have gone better. I sent several requests to see if we could check in earlier or out later over a few days because I wasn't getting a response. We ended up checking in and out on time because I could never get confirmation on times one way or the other. It could be due to this being during the holidays.

Stayed here for a month after we sold our house. Very comfortable but basic. The backyard was perfect for our dogs; that was main reason we chose this house. The house could use some maintenance and upgrades though; the powder bath door doesn't latch, refrigerator is terribly small, mattresses are old. We enjoyed our stay but it took some getting used to.

It was a tough week, with the heat. House could not cool down. The property manager was very caring and offered to refund our money. He sent an AC repair person out to check on the system. Nothing was wrong.
Old home and super hot days in Houston.

My wife, daughter and I stayed for 13 days while moving my daughter into her new apartment in Houston. Hunter was an excellent host - very responsive to any issues. Place is very comfortable, equipped well. Excellent location - very central. Easy parking.

This property has a well-appointed kitchen and an interesting and eclectic decor. It is also located within walking distance of several restaurants. (Shout-out to The Toasted Yolk for breakfast.) However, we felt more attention could have been given to the details. The curtains in the front bedroom were too thin to block the light; the hair dryer was broken; and there was not enough body wash to last the length of our stay. Also more detail in the welcome binder would have been appreciated, such as the how-to for the washer and thermostat. Overall, a property with character but some flaws.

Charming older home in largely redeveloped neighborhood. Quiet and good location. Very responsive host. Would definitely stay here again.

This place has so much charm and proximity to delicious food. I was worried that it wouldn't be as nice as the pictures but honestly, it was nicer and even seemed more spacious. Wished I could stay longer.

Hunter's rental is a welcoming place with its quirks that are for travelers seeking more than a home to stay. The collective mix of art, handwoven fabrics, collectibles, and books make it unusual to top it off. We will be back. Enjoy!

We enjoyed our 2 night stay. It was perfect for our needs and in a really nice neighborhood close to downtown. Lots of restaurant option in walking distance.
I hope we can stay here again when we return in October.

Hunter was a great host. Let me in early, thank you! Property was well stocked. Neighborhood is amazing, very walkable with many places to eat. Very safe and friendly. Highly recommend this property for extended stay as there are so many things to do in Houston. Great proximity to downtown.

We usually avoid Houston due to the crowded, fast-paced feel of the city, but the house has us planning our next trip. It's super cute with interesting art throughout, beautiful trees and a wide porch to enjoy them from, and sweet neighbors. The area is quiet and peaceful, and there are a plethora of independent restaurants just a couple of blocks away. The kitchen is a great setup for those who like to cook- the layout flows perfectly for two people to cook and prep together. The host is attentive and quick to respond to messages, and the property felt both clean and secure. I would absolutely stay again and recommend to friends.

Great long weekend visiting our son who lives closer to west Dallas, but great daily walk along and thru the parks, great restaurants around, very easy and comfortable stay.

Cottage had all we needed. Sponsors were very responsive. Great location for access to museums, parks, high end restaurants. Wish we had taken advantage of walking distance restaurants on Washington.

Cottage might bring to mind cute & quant, but this place is cool & hip. The hardwood floors & other 1920’s characteristics were fabulous with neat maps & unique decor. It is tucked away between modern townhomes. I hope the owner never sells. We would love o stay there again.
(There was a hard freeze during our stay, but the owner was always in contact with us & other properties all over town had problems as well. That didn’t affect our overall satisfaction with the property.)

The house has so much character. We enjoyed the homey feel and the funky decorations/art. For our holiday events, it was a good location. We also had to prepare a couple of dishes to share at the Thanksgiving meal, and the kitchen had all we need (dish and appliance wise) to accomplish that.

Such a cool space, quirky and relaxing. Great area for walking my dog. Even when I was walking in the evenings, I felt safe. Great covered front porch.

Vintage charm in central Houston
Nicely and artistically designed vintage home under large oaks that’s been kept alive despite being surrounded by urban sprawl. Lots of character and charm, well stocked, responsive and friendly host, easy location for most entertainment options, quiet area of the neighborhood. For those that prefer the rustic and artsy, non-cookie cutter vibe.
Only suggestion would be a patio hangout spot in back.

Lovely week with family
We had a wonderful time in this lovely house! We'll have to return when it is not so hot so we can enjoy the front porch.

Comfortable bungalow
I really enjoyed our stay. The property was in a good location accessible to many restaurants and offstreet parking were a benefit. Also a plus, the area was quiet at night. Many amenities were available. We would love to stay here again during a future trip to Houston.

Lovely oasis
My spouse and I went to Houston for cancer therapy and wanted to stay in a place where we could relax and feel at home. This place was perfect. Sitting in the living room with light filtering through the live oaks, walking from the kitchen and noticing the old fashioned wavy glass windows, was so comforting. The house had the same layout as an older relative's country home where my spouse spent summer vacation as a child. The neighborhood is sprinkled with similar older homes with lovely yards, and some newer imaginative homes that try to add their own syncopation to the vibe. When we weren't relaxing at our little home, we took frequent walks through the very safe neighborhood and onto the Buffalo Bayou trails. Some nights walked until 11 pm and were happy to see other folks doing the same. We love this place.

Handicapped Perfection
This is our second stay here! We stayed at the Floyd street house mainly because it is perfect for a handicapped person (but great for all), which I am. Wide doors for my walker, handicap shower with a shower chair, lower bed, ramp from the street to front door! The kitchen is well equipped with its cute little vintage Frigidaire refrigerator! Great eccentric decor throughout the house! ~~~~And the beautiful huge oaks around the house are amazing! The front porch was a nice place to people watch because it’s a friendly busy neighborhood. The washer and dryer was certainly appreciated. Many great restaurants in the area! FM Kitchen has a yummy hamburger! Some are walking distance. Hunter was a great host answering all of my questions before and during our stay. Thank you Hunter for your patience! ;-). Hope to stay again in the future!

A family visit brought us back to the Houston area. Hunter was a fantastic host. This cozy 2 bedroom was in the perfect location to access downtown, the buffalo bayou, and a myriad of local eateries. The decor is reminiscent of an authentic, vintage Houston home, featuring 12” shiplap walls, along with classic frig and sinks. Very cool! The space was super clean and was well equipped with all of the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. And last but not least, one of our favorite features of this property were the majestic live oak trees enveloping the house like a giant, gentle hug… like the Redwoods of Houston!!! We would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking about visiting the Houston area. Hunter, thank you for a great experience! We look forward to staying with you again soon!

cute place
The home was really cute. The property was close/walkable to restaurants as well. the neighborhood felt safe enough to walk at night which was great. the house was well appointed and the kitchen was really nice. There are some cool old books throughout the house.
I wish the backyard was a bit more done up, but we just hung out on the front porch instead. We were there while it was cold outside at night. The heater works great, but just as in any old house, it gets drafty in some areas and hot in others. Not an issue, just took a bit to figure it out and set the right temp for sleeping (where the thermostat is is colder than the front bedroom).

What a great house. The location is very central. I was able to walk to a few stores. And very close to shopping. We also visited downtown and it was not a big deal at all to get back and forth. Hunter was also very easy to get a hold of. I would stay here again!

Location made getting around Houston much easier as it’s centrally located. Quiet and safe neighborhood. House is stocked with everything you need except food. My elderly mom appreciated the roll in shower and the fenced in back yard for her dog. It was everything we needed in a vacation rental. I will say the lot provides much needed greenery that isn’t possible with all the condos in this neighborhood though could use a bit of attention.
