No frills, authentic, exceptional value accommodation. Accommodation run by the family that (re)discovered the caves in 1923. Great base (25mins drive) to the Forever resort where you start the superb walking trails overlooking the gorge and the three rondevels. Added unexpected bonus was the tour of the Echo Caves - the guide Ivans (sp?) was excellent and the caves impressive.
Nothing but note that at least at this time of year no evening meal or breakfast was available. we didn’t need either - We had coffee from the room for breakfast and some fruit we brought with us on the picnic tables outside the caves. We had a buffet at the forever resort the evening before.

Echo Caves exceeded my expectations by far. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful stay. We had breakfast at the restaurant in the morning and it was very delicious. Definitely take time to take a tour through the caves as it's an amazing experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would go back any day.
There was nothing about my stay I didn't enjoy. The staff went above and beyond what I would except for my stay here, the room was perfect and had everything I needed. There was a big fridge in the room, which was very convenient as well.

it was a very interesting place, located down a rough track into the bowls of the earth by the look of it. Room was good, could of done with more of a kitchen area and tables. The shower was very basic. The vervet monkeys where a delight getting to feed the cheeky chaps a few times a day. The owner was good, bringing fruit and biccies a few times.
had a couple of trouble making africaans for a day but soon quitened them down, the only food in the cafe was burgers so had 3 days of burgers once my chicken was finished

the hostess was very kind and helpful!
the setting in the middle of nature is awesome : only sounds of birds surrounded us. convenient that in times of loadshedding there is a generator.

the staff is very friendly and the food is quick to prepare.
the beds need to be changed. like a double bed in 2022? when you lift your hand to scratch yourself the bed would squeek. the linens are old, no, they are ancient. the blankets …. I’ll stop here…

The whole atmosphere of the place resounds a magical sense of age, peace and tranquility.... one can see the owners personal hand on the way the whole place looks...nothing out of place and beautiful! The best surprise was the winter sheets as I climbed into bed that night!
Also, the most amazing and healthy 'broodbome' that I have ever seen.
Caves were also out of this world, was very tempted to stay longer.

We received a warm welcome and it is a beautiful place, nice gardens and quiet environment. Ideal for a weekend breakaway when you want peace and quiet. Rooms were serviced and everything was clean.
The shower in the main bedroom was tricky to use. The stream of water was not strong also.

The location
No TV in room, also no swiming facilities considering the humid conditions.
Consider insect treatment in rooms.

Location is great. The view was perfect. The cave guides are good, but I think the tour inside is not value for money.
They have old people only servicing the room.The rooms were not properly cleaned. They did not clean when we were out on our second day. They did not even know how many people they were expecting.We had to run around asking for more beds until we were given a other room. Less eating utensils were provided. Very disappointing.

The location was excellent and we really like it. It was in a quite area and the environment was nice for a quite holiday
The house keeping service was very poor, we have to ask them to come clean our rooms and it was cleaned after 4pm since morning.
