I have been staying at the Hotel On Rivington for 20 years since they opened. I'm not sure if it's under knew ownership but our most recent stay was awful. We will not be staying there again. The lobby was under construction and we were given no heads up, the staff was completely uncommunicative and not helpful about the many inconveniences that popped up during our stay. Very unfortunate.

This hotel is under a lot of construction at the moment so there is no lobby or ambiance of any sort. The hotel rooms are very dated (hardly any outlets no USBs, phone doesn’t work) but spacious which is rarity in nyc. Service a little bit or miss as the phones didn’t work in the room, housekeeping still rap on the door when it says do not disturb, and they don’t let delivery folks up to drop off things at your room or bring them up themselves. The wifi is problematically slow to the point where I couldn’t do meetings from my computer. The staff at the front desk was very nice though.

Friendly staff, but otherwise not recommended. Very desirable location on the LES, which is likely why they feel like they can charge these rates. But the interior was thrown together as cheaply as possible in an attempt to look trendy. Exposed drywall in the room; walls with cheap paint that's covered in spots, marks, and handprints; dirt and dust in the hallways and elevator; cheaply made light switches that don't work; outlets in weird locations and missing in convenient ones. Construction may be sound but appearance is slapdash, doesn't feel clean, and reflects no pride of ownership. Will not stay ever again.

Our heat was broken and we slept in rooms that were 62 degrees. The staff tried to fix it (though this request took several hours) and the hotel was fully booked so they could not offer us another room. They gave us a discount on our room the next day which was appreciated.
Overall the hotel felt like it is in need of many repairs. The rooftop lounge has an amazing view but is not really staffed most of the day. Also if you get a room called "city view" you may be facing airshafts if you are on the 7th floor or below. But it it definitely checks the box for trendy LES boutique hotel.

The staff at Hotel on Rivington were gracious with all my requests. Though the hotel was under renovation, there were minor kerfluffles. I’d have liked a coffee maker in the room, but there was coffee in a comfortable lounge with a great view, so it worked out! Will consider staying again!

We had a really wonderful stay at the hotel in Riverton from the moment we checked in with Derek at the front desk even though it was a very late arrival in New York City. He was charming funny and informative.
We got to our room and we were so impressed with the incredible sweeping views of New York City. Hotel on Rivington is one of the few tall buildings in the lower east side so the views are pretty spectacular. We had a quarter room and I was impressed with how spacious it was for a New York hotel room.
The LES has some incredible bars, restaurants clubs, etc. and especially on the weekend, the sounds of revelry can be noisy for those not used to living in an urban city. If you need absolute quiet, i would recommend picking up earplugs.
There’s even a 20th floor event space, lounge space that is available to all guests where they serve coffee in the morning and wine in the evening.
Overall, great stay, great views, great time in NYC.

This hotel was a mixed bag; some lovely aspects, some evidence of quick, incomplete renovation. Be aware that you can see into the shower from the LIVING ROOM (photo below). Hotels.com lists the amenities correctly (no bfast, for instance); believe this site rather than comments on the hotel’s actual website.
Staff was courteous and helpful. Super nice and fixed a window issue immediately.
In all, I think the hotel was priced fairly for NYC, except for the ridiculous “resort fee,” which I know is standard many times now but here really just means coffee on the top floor (no coffee in room) and a gym.

The Lower East Side is a great corner of NYC to visit and the Hotel in Rivington is an ideal place to base yourself. Although the hotel’s facilities are pretty basic, the room was huge for a city hotel and very comfortable. The wine happy hour is a nice touch, especially up on the 20th floor even if the space is barren of atmosphere. The amazing thing is how good of a deal the hotel is. Stay here and you’ll have a lot more money to enjoy a great restaurant.

This is my go-to hotel in New York. It’s good value for money, great location and the beds are very comfortable. The only disappointment this time was that the hotel was under construction so the lobby and restaurant were closed. The bathroom this time was also poorly lit and there was no mirror in the sleeping area. Despite this I would still stay there.

Big Rooms. Great View! Nice bathrooms. Quality of the interior construction is not great for the room I was in.

I had a wonderful experience at the Hotel on Rivington with my partner. There was initially an issue with our room and the manager, Mark, took care of it immediately and got us into the perfect room on the property. Would recommend!

I was impressed by customer service and room spaciousness. It’s a hidden gem in NYC. City view from my room is amazing.

Great location, excellent for a quick overnight stay. The hotel is undergoing a long due renovation. Depending on what floor your room is located on the room may be tired and in poor shape. We had to complain about the first room they put us in on the 4th floor. The staff quickly upgraded us to a room on the 16th floor with a spectacular 180 degree view of the city.

We always enjoy staying here. Lovely and welcoming staff, clean comfortable rooms and in our favorite part of the city.

The hotel was very outdated . The room was not like they have in the pictures . Room was dirty , broken furnitures . The walls were cracked , paint peeling . Noise coming heater , and other mechanics kept me awake all night . Plus the walls are very thin can hear everything the other rooms . I have never been so disappointed in a booking .

Hotel needs all the work it can get because as they fail to mention anywhere, they are UNDER CONSTRUCTION. The exterior of the hotel is completely under scaffolding and covered, so there’s a small sign near the “entrance” that says the name of the hotel which is the only reason I knew it was there.
In the sheets had stains, cracks in the walls and outlets, bathroom vents full of dirt & dust.
Lastly, I booked the room 2 days before checking in and noticed they lowered the price on all the channels. Since they wouldn’t let me leave without charging me after discovering the terrible condition of the room, I asked to at least honor the rate ($200 lower) they were charging for the day…of course they refused that as well.
There are plenty of better options in the area, don’t waste your money with this place until they renovate.

I’ve stayed here on 3 different trips and really like it. The staff are a big part of that- all friendly, helpful and very accommodating. It’s not a very fancy place and some things are a bit ‘worn’, but the beds are SO comfy, the upper floor room views are amazing, the showers are great and the location is perfect. And did I mention the staff and great. Oh the shower products are also great.
On my last stay (Dec) the heater wasn’t working, I asked to change rooms in the middle of the night and the staff found me another room right away. Thank you!

When I arrived, I was told I had already checked in (yet this was the first time I had walked into the hotel). It turns out they had given someone else my room and the desk's excuse was that the person had my name (which was terrifying because I had recently been hacked). Upon arrival, which took awhile because of this issue, I told them I was in a hurry because I had an event. I got to my room and it was pretty stark. There was no water in the room (they later brought me some), there was no full length mirror (it had been removed from the door), there was no remote to the television...and when I tried to call down to the front desk, no one ever answered. I tried twice before calling the hotel number from my cell phone...and still no answer. I finally gave up and just hoped that my dress/outfit looked okay. A couple of things they DID leave in the room, however, were some balls of hair in the bathroom and some balled up socks in one of the chairs. While the staff WAS very nice, they were pretty much useless and were of zero help when I tried to reach them. Also, the fact that someone with my name checked in ahead of me (I really should have called the police, I guess) and there was no resolution to this, was infuriating.

We absolutely love staying at the hotel on Rivington. The front desk staff of Seki, Kyle, Gina, and Mark along with everyone are so super helpful and friendly. The views of NYC from the rooms and balconies are the best your going to find anywhere. We look forward to the restaurant being reopened and to see some of the other remodeling that is taking place. We really feel like this is our NYC home away from home

Definitely a hidden gem. The floor to ceiling windows are the main attraction-they’re in the shower too! We always take the subway so for us, the accessibility to that was perfect! If you’re a light sleeper, you might not do well, but it didn’t bother us. Parking was recommended at the delancey/Essex municipal garage. We stayed 3 nights/4days and it was $200 total for parking. I think this is our spot to stay for future trips!

The best NYC lower east side hotel ever.
View, high level, bathtub. Made my trip unforgettable. Thank you very much.

The staff was very nice and super accommodating! We had a problem with our shower that was fixed immediately, and every staff member we encountered was helpful! It was a great location for quick and easy subway access. Also had great food within walking distance. Great stay!

This is a strange place but I liked it. Big room, extremely friendly staff, great view from the breakfast room. Some things were definitely in need of repair but not enough to ruin our stay. The area is perfect and close to subway. Good experience overall.

Terrible!!! Currently construction going on outside i guess to remodel but they have the smallest sign on the outside with the hotel name on it that i drove past it twice. As soon as you walk inside it’s cute but more steps inside u see the walls there’s a lot of chipped paint and sheet rock exposed. You step on the elevator it felt like something out of a horror movie they have fake red suede on the walls of the elevator that looks like it’s been clawed at by a trapped person. Once in the room it’s not worth the price, it’s super small and the bed was in the middle of the floor. It’s winter but the heat took 4 hours to kick in when i set the temp to 90 degrees. The pictures online is a scam looks nothing like it in person they did a good job masking the true look. Definitely not worth the money i paid for the executive room.

This was a very nice place and their rooms were so comfy while being posh. It was such a nice decision and they were in a great part of the Lower East Village.

The room was spacious so that was a plus but the shower smelled so bad of mold I had to shower very quickly so I wouldn't gag. The gym is a shoebox size that needs major improvements. The weight dock was almost empty with only a few very large weights left, the weight machine was missing parts making it unusable, there were no mats for stretching and the temp was 80 degrees when I went in there. I went to the front desk and they sent in help to have that fixed so that was good. This used to be a really nice hotel but I hadn't been there in years and I guess they are under new ownership and it's also under construction so hopefully things will be improved when it's all done. I doubt I will stay there again.

See above comments—
Continental breakfast was good—toaster would be better than microwave. Wish they had stevia for sweetener.
Sheets/bedding/linens/towels good.
Size of Studio King fine.
Could not take shower with window in shower that would not close (crank not working) and no curtain on window.
Room not ready for check-in at arrival after 4:15 pm
4th floor location with terrible back of hotel view.

This hotel is in major need of repair. We had stayed here previously about 10 years ago and it was nice. We booked two nights and left after one. It was filthy. The shower floor was literally coming apart. The carpets were stained, the elevator was all banged up and the walls were torn. Not a good experience.

Watch out for this hotel. I booked 4 rooms for my business trip and was charged for seven rooms. Was overcharged for a security deposit as well

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel on Rivington. The location cannot be beat and the views we had from our room were unbelievable! The only view better was the view from the top floor where we enjoyed a modest continental breakfast each morning. (Nice touch with the breakfast. Basic pastries and yogurt plus coffee which was sooo appreciated as we didn’t have to leave the hotel to grab coffee in the am) the hotel is going through a little bit of a renovation, so the lobby is very tiny and really more of a greeting spot than a true lobby. The size didn’t matter though because there was always a friendly person there to greet and help with any questions. The room was nicely sized and designed for NYC and the bed was comfortable. My only complaint with the room was the lighting in the bathroom. It’s a black tiled and decorated bathroom, but the lighting is minimal which made getting ready a little harder when trying to apply makeup. The location is great and the lower eat side area is bustling end is super energized on weekend nights. Lots of great restaurants and bars nearby and it’s a quick walk to SoHo. We will definitely stay here again.
