The front desk concierge was kind enough to upgrade our stay free of charge to a higher floor. Really made our stay extra special

Bathroom had no door for privacy. Placed a $200 hold on my credit card without informing me. Refused to acknowledge they price gouged the rooms, as my room was booked 2 weeks before my stay, and day of check in my room was almost $200 cheaper. Refused to compensate with an upgraded room either. Ordered towels and never received them. TV doesn’t connect to airplay as they have tv’s on a completely different and hidden WiFi. Will never stay here ever again. Stay somewhere else.

Reached out to the hotel 1 month in advance stating if they had any upgrades available or proposal packages. Never got a response. Called the hotel thwy weregoing to call back, did not happen.
Not many great things to say. Actually disappointed. Unless you really want to stay here I would advice look somewhere else for the price.
Water from the sink was so dirty you werent able to wash hands. Shower water seemed dirty as well. Downside with no front desk you cant really get help at night.

Stylish room with floor-to-ceiling window. Great lobby areas for work or for people watching.

Top hotel very well located. We just loved it.
Hotel manager Dean has been a great help and support to fix a little issue, which happened during our stay. Very professional and customer oriented. Very quiet hitel for New York.We definitely recommend it for a great stay in Manahattan.

Used their self-service locker system to check luggage (staff won’t securely manage any luggage like other hotels). Came back after a couple hours retrieve my stuff: code had been changed, belongings stolen. Staff was utterly useless, not empathetic, and there are no cameras overseeing the locker area.

Our stay was amazing. I would defiantly stay at public again. Great location.
We had a loft room with a city view and wow! The beds were so comfortable! The only thing I would add would be to have tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. The staff were great and so polite

Really unique hotel and rooms were comfortable. Great location. However, check in is self service (you make your own key and check yourself in which is fine) but if there is an issue you have to hunt down someone who works there to help. We had to go to the bar and ask the bartender for assistance, who called someone and 15-20 minutes later we had our key. Not a great way to be welcomed and start off a trip. The rooms are really small, nice, but small. The trim on the shower door was peeling off and could have been easily fixed but instead was duct taped and the shelf in the shower was falling off (had to put toiletries on the floor). Finally, the gym was very small for the size of this hotel and I was very surprised that there were no wipes to clean machines after usage. Peloton bikes were great to see, but when the guy got off the bike and it was dripping with his sweat and there is nothing there to wipe if off with I left. For almost $500 a night, you would expect more.

Very nice hotel, great location. Rooms are small but very well designed and sharp. Great bars and open area places to seat. Nice roof top bar

This is truly a beautiful hotel but i would advise against staying here if you are on business. The rooms are not quiet and despite asking for as quiet a room as possible i was located directly opposite the ice room so constantly woken up with party guests.
Traffic is also loud and the maids are cleaning from 8am so no chance of a lie in either. Location is good, rooms are ok but my bed was lopsided so it was pretty annoying.
Id stay here again on a weekend as its definitely a fun hotel if you want to party but avoid if you need to work.

We could not open the bathroom door in room 304! You had to push really hard and the glass door scraped on the tile. Ridiculous!

Angelo and Claudia both amazingly helpful! Loved the stay… great facilities, and friendly staff all around. The GM helped me carry food back to my room, if that tells you anything. My only issue is the booking system for the igloos.

We really like this hotel, the room, the neighborhood, even the coffee in the breakfast room, but watch the hidden fees- for example, $35 for all access?!

This was my second stay at this hotel. More than anything, it is a great location. It is a nice hotel and newer building. The rooms are not spacious and include a bluetooth speaker than can get pretty loud, as I experienced from a room nearby. Road noise is audible from the 8th floor. The service and location are the best.

The rooms are small but thoughtful and so comfortable. The mattress is great, I love the auto blackout shades. I slept so well. I do wish there was water in the room. The amenities in the hotel are lively and social, plenty of spots to do some work and grab a juice or latte.

Guests beware! Overall it wasn't a bad stay so I don't want to deter people from staying here, but check your room before you commit to the room for the night.
The hotel is pretty self-reliant, meaning you check in via iPad, everything is online-- QR codes for basically everything- comfort of doing everything from your phone so I personally appreciated this aspect of it.
We got to our room which seemed clean except for some ceiling stickies that still had remnants of balloons stuck to them from the previous guest, right over the bed, not the best visual to go into the stay with but we figured it's not on the bed, it's fine. Wish we had checked the rest of the room before we committed though... more on that below.
The amenities seem really cool-- we only had dinner at Popular which was delicious and the staff were friendly. We had an 8pm reservation for dinner but weren't sat at our table until around 8:20ish. We were directed to the bar and had drinks while waiting so it wasn't terrible, but had we had other plans that required us to be timely, we would've been late.
NOW the concern didn't arise until the next day when we went to take showers and opened the shades when we found hand prints, body part prints, bodily fluids on the curtains in the bathroom and the previous guests INITIALS ON THE GLASS WINDOWS with hands prints indicating some sultry fun was had in that bathroom. We were comped $300 for a $659 room when we brought this to the staff's attention.

Love this property. My room was small but it was strategically designed with everything in mind. I did not feel like I was in a small room at all. Bed was comfy. Loved having the rooftop to have party time, enjoyed the green juice bar each morning of my stay, and the lobby is a coworking space dream. 10/10 do recommend.

Replacing irons with steamers were a great idea until I looked inside & realized that I had been releasing and inhaling mold the entire time I was doing so. The steam smelled funny so I looked inside and seen there was an entire cluster of mold coating the inside of the steamer. I do have video footage to show, this is such a health hazard & could possibly affect my respiratory system.

The aesthetic was cool and the location was good but the rooms don’t have ventilation so unless you keep your window open it smells so musky and mouldy and like toilet water. I️ even found mould on the inside of the film on the glass in the shower. They were kind enough to change rooms but still that was a large inconvenience.

Airplay would not work for TV due to lack of wifi connection. I had requested extra blankets and did not receive them until the next morning. There was no front desk & nobody to communicate with regarding my silver perks through Expedia. Also, we could hear all of the cars driving and honking on the street, barely got any sleep. The hotel was aesthetically pleasing very nice and clean. That’s about it.

Public is a really hip, happening place. Beautiful public spaces, great food in the restaurant, nice/helpful employees, all sorts of options for entertainment or lounging in the building. That said…I’m older and apparently used to more luxury hotel rooms than hip/happening. Ha! So, if privacy (looking at you, glass enclosed tile shower and toilet room for all to “kinda” see) or plush towels or comfy seating are your things like they are apparently mine more than I thought, definitely don’t book a double room with someone you barely know. My arthritic knee struggled crawling in and out of the platform bed on the floor, but the view of the city through the window wall behind it *truly was outstanding*.
No hate to the hotel…I just didn’t know what I was looking at in the online pics. It is a wonderful spot for people without bad joints and no worries about the echo from the bathroom. For me, well, I’m not hip enough for that room.
(I will also say I was truly disappointed by the lack of any recycling options.)

Self service check in with an app that was not working correctly was a pain. Beyond that it was a good experience and I will consider staying here again.
