We loved our stay in Kansas City . Other reviews had mentioned the sound transfer across the levels in the home . It was noticeable but we quickly adapted to it. It also created some funny moments .
We cooked 80% of our meals . The open concept kitchen dinning room worked well for us . Our family definitely loved the new bedding , espresso maker and tv’s. Its location couldn’t have been better . It was only 10-15 minutes away from everything we wanted to do in the area
We like meeting Mike our host who quickly fixed some minor issues . We enjoyed hearing the history of the reclaimed wood floors as well as his journey building the “ Castle “. It was perfect for our family Christmas celebration.

"The Castle in the City" was all it was promised to be. 5 of us stayed for 8-14 days, in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of KC, a wonderfully rejuvenated neighborhood near Children's Mercy Hospital.
Pro's: Awesome kitchen, well supplied. Massive master suite with Jacuzzi. Great new beds all around. Very responsive owner (he built the house!) who delivered all our requests quickly, including (unsolicited) a new espresso machine and new pots & pans. Full apartment suite downstairs. Easy to get anywhere in the city from there, especially Crossroads and downtown Power & Light district.
Cons. Only real con is the way noise travels inside the house. There is no sound insulation between 1st and 2nd floors, so every sound travels both ways and is unavoidable.
All in all a great stay, in a part of KC we were unfamiliar with (and we lived downtown for 10+ years). Highly recommended.

We have already said to each other, “We wil stay here again.
Spider webs in downstairs bathroom.
The washing machine and microwave are old, rusted

The house is spacious with bathrooms available for all bedrooms. The location is close to Kansas City downtown attractions. The owner welcomes suggestions for improvements. The one thing I was disappointed in was that I was not aware before I booked that the owner required a copy of the driver’s license of each member staying there.

This property is exactly what the listing photos and description say it is. The location is fantastic. The property was clean and the response by the property manager was great. We were 7 friends who came to town for the P!NK concert and some KC shopping and we had a fantastic time.

This was the perfect place for our group. Great indoor and outdoor space for our group of six. Plenty of beds and bathrooms. Nice location , plenty of off street parking. I would recommend and stay again.

Loved our stay here for a full weekend of baseball, breweries and wineries!

The house and location were fantastic. The property is not super well maintained and the AC doesn’t work fabulously but overall the house was great.

The house was ideal for our party of 6. The layout is unique and there are plenty of places to gather or quietly get away, from the finished basement to the large backyard.
The location is perfect for seeing any corner of Kansas City, most everything is less than 20 minutes away.
The host was very helpful, everything was clean and our trip was amazing, the KC castle was a big contributor to the success of our vacation.
Can’t recommend it enough.

I and 5 High School buddies follow our St.Louis Cardinals on the road every year and this year it was KC. My friends loved this space. Great kitchen area, nice bedrooms, big table for conversations and nice outdoor area for whiffle ball! Close to WWI and NLB museums (both great!) and not far from the ballpark. Our host is a big Royals fan so he gets our passion without mentioning our rivalry. One of the best of our 5 stays over the years.

The kitchen is just as it is pictured in the photo.
The décor is simple and elegant.
very spacious. not everyone in our group was able to make it so it was a large house for two people, but 8-10 people would be very comfortable in the castle.
It was warm during our visit, but there were beautiful areas outside to sit.
It was very easy to get to Arrowhead Stadium and the zoo. I highly recommend if you are visiting Kansas City.

Interesting house, good functionality, several minor landscape flaws and some lights that did not work as well as a couple of cabinet doors that did not close completely, but the property manager was prompt and responsive to our requests. We had a very pleasant 3-day stay there.

We stayed at this property while working an event at the convention center. Everyone had their own space throughout the house which was very nice. The gated property really made us feel secure. The property is also in an ideal location. Host is very responsive, I would definitely stay again!

This is a very unique property. It is in a lovely neighborhood and was close to everything we wanted to do. There was plenty of space for us to spread out and our kids 5 and under loved seeing what they could find in the toy chest in the basement. They also thought the loft was very cool. The host was fantastically responsive to all of our questions. We were well aware of the sound issues before we booked so we were prepared for that. But it is very true that sound from the first floor comes directly up to the second floor and up to the loft. It was not a big issue for us but something everyone should be very aware of. There were a few minor maintenance issues that we thought could have made the home even more impressive but they did not keep us from having a good time on our trip.

We held our annual Christmas in June family get together at the KC Castle. It had great space, both indoors and outdoors, for our entire family. We were able to eat a big breakfast together. After sightseeing for the day, we were able to watch the kids play on the playground equipment, while we relaxed on the deck.

Great location within walking distance to some amazing restaurant like The Antler Room and fantastic breakfast at Succotash. The dining room table is great for games and the beds were very comfortable. Remember to bring shampoo and conditioner but there is a Walgreens /CVS nearby to pickup supplies. The fire place also was nice to use when it was chilly and was easy to operate with just a switch.

This was an amazing stay, it truly felt like we were in a mini-castle. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for a get away.

First of all, there was no light on the back porch when we tried to get in after dark. No step up to the high porch either so not easy for me with bad knees.
The place served our purpose while going to a wedding on Saturday - it was close to all activities. The Christmas tree was great.
The upstairs floor squeaked all over in every room. When we were upstairs, we could hear the conversations downstairs . We had no idea it would be that way.
We would not rent this place again.

Had a great weekend at the KC Castle. Our group of 8 adults were in town for the NCVF Tournament. Location to the KC Convention Center was excellent! Some of our group walked over for the matches. Well equipped home, everything from Keurig coffee makers to umbrella for the patio table is there. Comfy beds, great basement playroom
If you have little ones, it’s all here. And best of all there was enough room for all!

We stayed over a weekend looking to enjoy and explore Kansas City. KC Castle was ideally located to do this and we were even close enough to walk to some of the popular areas such as Crossroads and the Power and Light district. The house was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. Mike was quick to provide replies to any questions I had. Thank you!

We traveled from St. Louis to KC for New Year’s weekend to celebrate the holiday and catch the Chief’s game. The castle house was perfect for our group of 8 twenty-somethings. The main floor kitchen and gathering area was beautiful and great for hanging out together. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. Michael was an excellent host and got back to me quickly with a few questions I had. The neighborhood was safe and we had plenty of space to park in the driveway. The location was super convenient to the entertainment venues, restaurants, and most importantly, the football stadium! Will definitely stay here again next time!

The large open living, dining, and kitchen space is perfect for groups. The owner was very responsive and accommodating for our extended family gathering. This is our second stay at this KC property!

Awesome central KC spot. We were able to easily frequent downtown and get to destinations in Kansas and Lees summit with less than 30 min drive time. The loft and fenced in yard were awesome. Our kids really enjoyed staying at the “Castle House”

Our family of 8 adults and 4 kids (ages 2-9) stayed 3 nights, while in KC for a family wedding. Loved this house! Plenty of room to spread out. The playroom in the basement was a big hit with the little ones. And a hit with the adults since the “new” toys kept the kids entertained. The house has 5 bedrooms and had plenty of hang out space for our family of 12.
The negatives were not a big deal to us. Yes, there are a lot of stairs/steps. ( basement, second floor, spiral staircase to 3rd floor, and the dining / living rooms are 2 steps down from kitchen). But they did not present any problems for our grandkids. It’s a large home, so stairs should be expected. The rooms have these lovely old wood floors and they do allow light and noise through to other rooms. I had noted that from other reviews and we brought sound/white noise machines for each bedroom, so there were no issues. We all slept great and the kids took long naps too.
It was really a fun weekend in a lovely house. Would definitely stay at this place again!

Fantastic Place
Kansas City Castle... Very very nice place, very roomy, lots of living space. Great open kitchen / dining / living area. We went with a group of friends to see The Stadium Concert at Kaufman Stadium and wanted to stay some place other than a hotel. There were 10 of us there total and everyone absolutely loved it. There were only two things the KC Kastle did not have, and they have PLENTY of ROOM to add these items are a hot tub and swimming pool. Hey, take the KC Kastle and make it a PALACE!!!! F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!!

Spacious, Very Clean, Unique Home in a nice area
Family enjoyed our stay in the KC Castle. Plenty of room to get together, or to spread out. Huge and stylish master suite. Unique third floor cupola. None of our party slept in the cupola, but it was a great place to go for some solitude, to see the city lights, or to watch a summer storm. Even though we stayed during some hot summer days, the cupola was amazingly cool and comfortable.
The huge yard was a bonus for outdoor games and such. Location is very close to popular tourist attractions (WWI museum, Union Station, Crown Center & Legoland).
Host/owner (Mike A) was communicative and responsive. He actually ordered a muffin tin from Amazon and had it delivered to the house when I asked if there was one among the kitchen gear! He was equally responsive to any other questions we had.
Husband was delighted with the gas grill and wants me to add: "House had the best gas grill of our last 10 summer rentals."

Great House!
This house was very big for our family of 5 that likes to spread out, could easily house 10 or more comfortably. Great location, great amenities. Property manager was easy to communicate with. Overall a terrific experience in a beautiful home!

Spacious Home in Great Location, BUT....
This home is in a great location and makes getting to most of the preferred things to do in KC super easy. It's spacious, well-equipped and clean. The back yard is a wonderful place to hang out, and the playroom in the basement is a nice bonus. We did have a one-year old with us, and since the stairs can't be closed off, we had to watch her very carefully. I'd suggest not booking the home if you have a toddler. Our biggest issue with the house was the lack of soundproofing. Since it's built in a loft style, when you're on the main floor looking up, you're looking directly at the 2nd story floorboards and all the pipes, and in some cases, you can see light in between the floorboards. This makes it way too easy to hear everything that is going on. I slept in the third floor loft, and when I was up there, I could hear any conversation being had on the main floor. Also for that bedroom, the only bathroom access, other than through someone else's bedroom, is the half bath on the main floor, which isn't very convenient in the middle of the night. If being able to hear every step and word said by others in the house isn't a problem for you, than this is probably a perfect house.
