About this house rental
Located in Saint Augustine, this lovely house for £183 per night is a great choice for your next break. Come stay in one of Davis Shores’ original ranch style homes that is close to everything! Built in 1952, Cottage Avista has many of the original charms of yesterday still intact and is located on the only circle in North Davis Shores. A very small community with minimal traffic and extra privacy! You will enjoy the sights, sounds, and island breezes as you are so close to the bayfront and downtown! This is the perfect sized home for a family vacation with a large remodeled, well appointed kitchen and two bedrooms (the master with a comfy king size bed and the second bedroom is queen sized). There is also a queen size sleeper sofa in the den. Walk or bike over the bridge of Lions to explore the town. We have several bikes for our guests, however if staying in, enjoy a setting sun on the wrap around front porch. For home entertainment there is a 55” HD TV and strong Wi-Fi throughout the property. Kids can utilize the den, shut the pocket doors and enjoy their own HD TV as well. We allow our guests to use the new washer and dryer located inside the detached garage. Whether going for walks downtown, planning a day at the beach, or just relaxing in St. Augustine the traditional way, Cottage Avista will have something for you! Very pleased with our stay. Home was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Host was fantastic to work with. Enjoyable walks around the neighborhood with our dogs each day and then an easy mile across the bridge into town. Nearby local restaurants and the light house museum. Would recommend if you want to see the local sights but not be in the hectic downtown area.

I can’t say enough about Stephen and his customer service! He was absolutely wonderful and a breeze to communicate with.
Upon booking, he called and text to thank me! He also said to call him around noon the day of check in as we’d probably be able to check in early. Guess what? We could! Who does that? My husband and I stay in a lot of VRBO homes, and that was the first time a host has offered that.
Upon arrival, we were so pleased at the awesome location. The house is in a culdesac, so traffic was minimal and literally two minutes to the bridge of lions!
The house is an older model, but it was so cute with retro decor. We loved the outdoor enclosed patio, and the back yard was absolutely gorgeous! Our two pups had a blast playing in this completely fenced and safe yard.
We were celebrating my birthday that weekend, and some of my in-laws stopped by and surprised me. We had a blast in the garage, which was more like a man cave! Everyone played darts, cornhole and sang karaoke.
All in all, absolutely wonderful stay, and we couldn’t have asked for a better host! Thank you so much for an unforgettable trip!

Steve's house is home away from home and equipped with everything you may need. The best part was to be among locals who are so kind and knowledgeable. Only a ten min. walk to the Bridge of Lions and all St. Augustine has to offer. We and our teens loved this house.

We stayed at the property while waiting for our house to be built. The house is very comfortable and there's a warm feeling that is very appealing.
The host was quick to answer the few questions we had. Overall, we would highly recommend staying here.

We just got back from a one week stay at Cottage Avista. If you are fence about this property…don’t wait. You will miss out on a perfect St. Augustine vacation home in the beautiful North David Shores within minutes of historic downtown. This house has tons of charm and has everything you would need for a wonderful stay. The location can’t be beat…walking distance to historic downtown or take one of the really nice bicycles if you wish! The house was immaculate and that was just a few days after Hurricane Nicole had come through. The owners spent 2 days cleaning up after the storm and other then the backyard being a little soggy - you would never know there was a storm! The beds are comfy, the kitchen is well equipped, the screen room is so fun and the decor is adorable. By the 3rd day - we were calling Cottage Avista our new home away from home. We loved it and hope to make this our yearly place to come in St. Augustine. You will love it if you book here! We sure did :)

This was our first time we loved the home and the location. Fenced in back yard was great for our little dog and a great place to hangout. Could not have asked for anything better.
Our host Steve was extremely nice would recommend renting any of his properties.
Our trip was cut short due to hurricane Ian but did receive a refund for a couple nights. Will definently rent again!

Paradise in a quiet corner of St. Augustine
This is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Honestly, we didn’t want to leave the house to sightsee. It was tidy, comfortable, and the shady, fenced-in yard was perfect for our puppy to romp and explore. The house has a retro feel and is decorated so lovely including an updated, well-equipped kitchen. The king-sized bed was comfy for my husband and me, and my 97-year-old mom even slept comfortably on the new sleeper sofa. There is also a queen bed but it was too high for her. There were plenty of indoor and outdoor games, bicycles, smart TVs. We only had to buy groceries and soap. Everything else we really needed was provided for us. We hated to leave it to come home. We would love to go back as soon as we can.

This was one of the nicest houses I’ve stayed in. Steve was communicative and helpful. My dog totally enjoyed the yard, landscaping beautiful….many condiments, cooking tools, etc. WiFi and Roku great. Neighborhood very safe and quiet…minutes to town.

Wonderful neighborhood
The house is lovely - plenty of space to hang out, including a large enclosed (screen & glass) patio, comfortable beds, good kitchen appliances and tools, nice gas grill, three TVs, huge backyard, dart board in garage (good on rainy days) and corn hole set up for outdoors. There is one full (tub) bath and one half bath. Washer & dryer in garage. Since the house is on a circle there is no through traffic. The neighbors are quiet and friendly. It's an easy walk over the bridge into town. Steve is very responsive to questions and concerns.

Comfortable, Cozy Yet Spacious & Great Location
This cottage is very nice. The information provided on the website is accurate. It is pleasantly furnished & decorated with an eclectic arrangement of antiques, 1960's pieces, beachy & various other themes which all work together wonderfully. The cozy cottage is comfortable and spacious. Sounds like a conflict but there are two bedrooms with a nice sized living room, family/rec room and enclosed porch allowing a family or two couples to be together and/or spread out. The kitchen was nicely supplied with dishware & cookware although we did limited cooking. There is a gas grill which we used. Backyard is fenced in making this the perfect retreat for our travels with our dog. Steve was wonderful to work with & an excellent communicator. And then there's the location which was great for us. It's a little over a mile to cross the bridge into the historic district. We both walked & rode the bikes that were supplied to the downtown area...we never drove there. Had wonderful meals at Catch 27, St Augustine Fish Camp, & Perserved. Also enjoy our visit to the fort & took a enlightening historic tour with Spyglass & Kevin. The neighborhood was quiet & friendly & nice for dog walking. There are also some places to visit on this side of the bridge that we enjoyed (Olde Coast Brewing, Osprey Tacos, Llama, and the lighthouse). I would definitely stay here again if visiting St. Augustine.

It the midst of this pandemic, we were able to enjoy our family Christmas in an amazing historic city hosted by an incredible VRBO host, thanks Stephen. We very much enjoyed the historic home and neighborhood. From bike riding to lounging and dart playing, we had a terrific time. Even saw dolphins each morning... The best accommodations!

This property was just what our family was looking for during our fall break to St. Augustine! We loved the location in a quiet neighborhood that was great for biking or within walking distance to old town and convenient to many excellent nearby restaurants, the beach, lighthouse, and kayaking at Anastasia State Park. Our family made use of all the amenities, including the bicycles, darts, the private fenced yard, the screened in sunroom, multiple seating areas inside with TV’s, the washer/dryer, and the fully equipped kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and the shower pressure was great! We will definitely stay here again when we return to St. Augustine!
