Southern Cross of the Abacos on Elbow Cay is one of the Finest Oceanfront Rental Properties on the Island. We are centrally located just 200 yards North of White Sound on the Island and minutes away from both Abaco Inn and Firefly! Southern Cross is ideally designed for families and groups of Couples- or BOTH! We have a 30 Kw John Deere Generator on Property that gets serviced monthly. We will have added a New Deck on the South Side of the Property adjacent to the Kitchen that will be great for Cocktails and Grilling and catch the Sunset over the Sea of Abaco to the South and West. This being built in Jan 2024. All New Deck Furniture around the Pool area. This OCEAN Front House has 6 KING Beds and 6 Private Bathrooms and the Living Space sits on the top Floor with 360 Views of the Ocean and views of White Sound and Marsh Harbor to the South and West. We are one of the few Vacation Rental homes on the Island to have 6 King Bedrooms and 6 private baths! ( Isn't it nice to go on vacation with a few couples and have your own private bathroom? ) Fully outfitted Kitchen upstairs and Spacious Living Room with Oceanfront Deck, a large 12 person Dining Area and 2 adjacent upstairs Master Bedrooms. Large Ocean Front 35 foot Pool and Decks with steps right down to the Beach! There is even a separate Ocean front deck and gazebo area with views up and down the White Sound Beach. We have a Large Lawn and Volley ball Court in our Backyard. Southern Cross was designed specifically for your Vacation Rental Enjoyment. 3,000+ square feet of OCEANFRONT beach living at its finest with 35 ft beachside in-ground Pool and expansive decking. Southern Cross offers direct beach access - Walk just steps to our beach. White sand beaches and plush dunes surround the home. We are just a little ways down from the 'surf' hot spot of the island...The islands famous Tahiti Beach is just a short golf cart ride away past the New Sea Spray Marina to the South. Family Board Games and beach toys are at the house as well.... Lots of Recreational and Fitness options offered, We also have Large Jenga Block Game. Of course we also offer central Air conditioning . 30 KW John Deere Diesel Generator. We do allow our tenants to access our Laundry room - washer and dryer are included for your usage. Wifi, Satellite, Microwave, Water Filtration System , Dish Washer, gas stove, Side by Side refrigerator with water/ice dispenser...no details are left undone. We also have a propane BBQ for your grilling needs. All of the walls in our home have white washed wood paneling, and tiled floors throughout. Two out of 6 bathrooms have full tubs with showers, and the other 4 have showers. We take pride in our home and want to share our knowledge and experience of the island’s amenities with you . Please ask us any questions, we want to make your experience enjoyable and memorable. We do offer as part of our rental pick up/drop off of guests and their luggage at the Hopetown Ferry Boat dock . Golf Carts are available for rent from local companies as are Boats. The ABACO Inn is 1/2 Mile to the South, and the Firefly is 1/2 mile to the West. Mackeys Restaurant take out for breakfast, lunch and dinner is across the street- and their FOOD is great! Across the Street from the Ocean but has Elevated and Unobstructed views of the South End of the Island. Current US passports are always required for entry into the Bahamas. No covid test required to enter island at this time. Please check www.travel.gov.bs for continued updates. We HIGHLY recommend Travel Insurance for ANY Trip outside the US...Just in case.... We will reimburse for travel INSURANCE if Booked during Hurricane Season. Only for the months of August 19 thru September and October. Must be a good plan with coverage for Hurricanes, storms and flight issues and not VRBO insurance, as they do not have good coverage for hurricane events..

Our large group enjoyed our time in Elbow Cay at Southern Cross. The caretaker and property owner/assistant were beyond helpful in ensuring our stay was enjoyable. The property was in a great location for all of our needs. The oven had some issues, but the owner assured us he was working to correct them. During our stay, we discovered a shower leak. The caretaker immediately addressed the issue, but sadly it couldn’t be fixed during our stay. Thankfully, the property has ample bedrooms and showers, so we were just fine. Southern Cross is a great property for families or groups of friends!

The property was not in a good condition.There is a major safety issue with a 3rd story porch and staircase with no pickets under the handrail.The power on the island went out once or twice a day.The house advertises a generator but it didn’t work. We had multiple suppers that we had to change plans because the power was out and the generator wouldn’t run.This caused us a lot of issues with meals and showers as the water is all through a pump, so no power-no water. The pool and deck doesn’t look like the pictures.While we were there, we ran out of propane, so we had to find a tank to swap to be able to cook dinner. In the kitchen, there was a cabinet door falling off the hinges. The built in showers are so narrow, you can barely turn around in them. The water pump could barely support a shower or two at a time. We had to take turns showering to have enough water to get the soap off. Most of the beds were uncomfortable. To sum it up, the house looks like it has had no maintenance done to it in years. I contacted the owner on the 3rd day to explain the difficulty we were having and he only made excuses for how bad the Bahamian people are to do work. I asked for a rate concession based on all the issues, instead they charged our deposit for a broken fixture that was broken when we got there. The house is not worth the price they charge.

Yes. This place has a backup generator. The generator works. The automated cutover to generator did not. So long time with no lights, A/C, or water when commercial power fails. The guy eventually showed up to manually cutover.

We were very impressed by owners quick response to questions and making sure we were all set for a great stay! We appreciated the team meeting us and transporting our luggage for us.

We had a fantastic week staying at Southern Cross! This beach front house is the perfect location. It is steps from Mackey’s an all around great spot with fresh baked bread and bakery items, gourmet coffee, as well as lunch and dinner take away items- and can’t forget ice cream! Walk or take the golf cart to Abaco Inn and Seaspray for drinks or lunch/dinner. Very short golf cart ride to Firefly or On Da Beach for drinks or meal. The kitchen is well stocked with all cooking essentials and it was nice to have a good supply of spices for your use. The beds were super comfy and it was terrific that each bedroom has its own bath. The home has 2 sets of washers and dryers, and 2 refrigerators which was great. Caroline, the house manager, was very responsive to every need or question. Fabulous stay- would highly recommend!

Wonderful location on this small island. Docked our boat at Sunset Marina and had access to everything on our agenda. Property management was easy to reach. Just a wonderful experience for such an adventurous area. Plenty of restaurants on this island too.

This was our families first visit to Hope Town and Southern across was the perfect home for the week! There was ample space for our group and there’s nothing like waking up to the ocean in your backyard! The team was very attentive and ensured that our trip was an A+. I highly recommend staying at Southern Cross on your trip to Hope Town!

We had the absolute best time staying in Southern Cross house! The kitchen had everything you could ever need and more, having a private bathroom for each bedroom is such a luxury , an extra fridge downstairs in so helpful and the location is perfect!!

Southern Cross was perfect
The house was suited perfectly for our 4 couples with room to spare. Had a great time celebrating our birthdays. Everything you need in a great location. View is perfect. Pool is very refreshing house was in good shape. Hilary (caretaker) was very helpfully. Hope to return.

Good house... not so great management
The house is in a great location but was a little disheveled. Cleaning supplies and tools were left out upon our arrival and the furniture was askew with cushions out of place on the sectional. There was sand that had been tracked by wet feet on the entry porch and steps.
The internet did not work and after we contacted the property manager the second time, her response was "it's out of my hands." We had a different house booked the second week of our stay which was just a few houses down the road and the internet worked perfectly there. Internet service shouldn't interfere with a beautiful vacation but, unfortunately, we did have some guests with us who needed it for work.
The sinks in several of the bathrooms did not drain.
The listing indicated that there was a "pack and play" for a child to sleep in and it wasn't there. We texted the property manager but she didn't respond to us.

Spectacular Getaway!
Southern Cross is an amazing property. One of the best vacations our family has been on. We had six adults, two teenagers and three kids. The house was perfect. Great kitchen if you want to cook. Convenient location in the middle of the island. Beautiful place to watch a sunrise or moonrise. Friendly, helpful staff and owner. Five Stars!

Can I come back already?
This is our second year staying at Southern Cross on Elbow Cay. It is absolutely perfect for a large group (12). The location, the amenities and THE VIEW. We can’t get enough. We survived a “not so perfect” crossing back to Florida and rebooked that night for June 2020.
