Property is clean and well cared for. Fall decor gave a nice seasonal touch. Beautiful location, enjoyed being right on the river. Great outdoor options - especially enjoyed the back porch, fire pit area, and dock.

The Home Place on the River was perfect for our group. The setting was wonderful and just want we needed. We really enjoyed the covered back deck for visiting and watching the boats on the river. The home is very comfortable! We had such a great time we hope to come back next year!

We had a great stay. Loved to watch the fog rolling off the mountains when it rained. Great covered porch for sitting and dock access. Definitely would come again!

Very clean property. Plenty of towels, dishes, paper products. Beautiful, better than the pictures. Will definitely be back.

Such a beautiful view from this quaint older home. Everything about the stay was nice, the only thing I could say that needed attention were the beds. Comfortable queen beds would be a nice upgrade.

Rest and relaxing, just what we wanted. Toddler enjoyed the screened in porch, as did Mom, for safety reasons. Great weekend!!

Stayed 4 nights in October for the annual Swim the Suck race. It was a perfect place to be for the event. The cool TN autumn weather was just what I needed. Convenient to the river and to downtown Chattanooga.

This little house is perfect for fishing and relaxing on the river. It is rural, but not secluded because there are neighbors. But still a quiet community. The dock is great for fishing and just watching the water. We had a great time!

We had a nice time relaxing and our sons enjoyed fishing the river from the small boat we brought along. It was nice to be able to launch the boat from the property.

The Good: quiet location good for fishing off the dock. Well stocked kitchen with washer & dryer. Towel cleaning service. Good Wi-Fi. House appeared clean & master bed was comfortable. Good water pressure in main shower. Landline available for local calls.
The Bad: Was not told about towel cleaning service. Sign by the door stated do not wash towels. I had 6 people so I had to wash. 2nd day someone came unannounced & said they were there to swap the towels.
The kayaks in the photo are not on site. Kids very disappointed about that.
Phones don’t work until you drive about 7 minutes down the mountain from the house. We were only able to communicate via Snapchat/Instagram with our family/friends in the area.
Low water pressure & tiny shower stall in the en suite bathroom.
The hill from the house to the dock is long & steep. Hard for elderly parents to climb so they only went down once.
The rivers edge is full of mossy grasses & my nephew came out of the water bleeding from something biting him.
Here’s the worst part…Bugs! We saw a total of 7 roaches during our 7 days here. First night none, second night 3. One was huge, the other 2 medium size. I messaged the owner and she called me back the next morning. She apologized and said she has seen them and they’re “water bugs” in the roach family. I looked up water bugs vs. roach and the bugs we saw were definitely roaches. We made a plan to leave that afternoon and she had someone come spray for the bugs but while he was there, he noticed my son’s electric cigarette charging so she came by after the bug man to unplug it because she thinks it can start a fire. She then proceeded to tell me not to smoke or do drugs anywhere on the property. I didn’t respond to her but I was extremely offended. First of all, I’m proud my son’s quitting smoking and using a vape temporarily to stop the habit. It has to be charged but it wasn’t going to be left on the charger for more than a few hours so not a fire risk anymore than charging a phone. And to insinuate that drugs were being used is unacceptable. And to tell me I can’t smoke outside anywhere on the property is uncalled for. I haven’t had any communication with owner since the rude messages were sent. All but 2 nights there we saw & killed roaches. I had anxiety every night wondering if bugs were crawling on me or my kids In our sleep. I kept all open food in the fridge to be safe. Still worry we may have tracked home bugs or eggs.

Fantastic scenic property!
Situated on the Tennessee River with mountains in the background. Fantastic place to sit outside with coffee and/or wine. Weather did not cooperate with us but we could still sit out on the porch during a thunderstorm. Very quiet and private. Map makes it look really far from downtown Chattanooga, but is a very easy drive within 20 minutes. We were entertained by the baby birds in birdhouse on deck getting fed by parent birds. The only tricky thing about the property is that it's on the border of central and eastern time. Our phones kept switching back and forth while in the house. So be aware of the time (if you have to). We had a great time and can't imagine how awesome this place must be in the fall!

A home on the river wrapped in blessing
This riverfront property has been carefully maintained by the same family for multiple generations. Their love and care for the place exude welcome. My family and I had a wonderful long weekend swimming in the river, chasing lightning bugs, and enjoying the wide open spaces and fresh air of this magical river canyon property.
The kitchen is well stocked with fundamentals. Check-in and Check-out procedures are clear and easy. The dock and swim area are safe and clean and inviting for swimmers of all ages.
This is easily one of the best VRBO experiences we've enjoyed. Thank you for sharing your family home with us!

Nice enough
I really liked the place. It was clean creaky as all old houses are but good. You could see the neighbors constantly. The pictures make it look as though there aren't neighbors and and there are. It's a very winding road to get there kind of middle of nowhere The restaurant at the base sort of right before you leave the area where things are is top-notch. One of the queen beds might need to be replaced. It was kind of painful but other than that it was a good time

If you enjoy all things water, open outdoor space, and gathering around games with family and/or dear friends, this is the place for you. The views are amazing and the sky and surrounding gorge seemed to be a different canvas every 15 minutes… absolutely beautiful. Even the unexpected rain was welcomed as it was warm and the house had plenty of covered patio space and seating options to enjoy the sights and sounds of water from both the front and back of the house. The dock area as well as the chess/checker table were other family favorites. Our sons face lit up after catching (and releasing) a good size catfish and several bluegill off the dock. Between the bald eagle, osprey nesting across the river, fish jumping, birds diving, various ships and barges as well as a low-flying plane through the canyon, there always seemed to be something fun to see from the house. The moon on the water and the lightning bugs made the evenings breathtaking. Take note that you’ll need to bring things like seasonings, toiletries, aluminum foil, laundry detergent, etc. The location and unexpectedly huge property more than made up for any minor inconveniences.

This place was great. The house had an old lake cabin feel and all the furniture both inside and outside was very comfortable.

Loved the cabin and the property. It was just right for 4 of us. Very clean and easy to find. Did have to drive past some very run down properties to get there, but not too many. Road is very small, do not drive there in a large vehicle. You have to pull over if you meet another car coming the opposite direction, which is hard to do on a mountain. It is easier in a small vehicle. We were in a small SUV and it was okay. Loved the river view!!
