We arrived and the power had been out for sometime. The host was aware and did not inform us. Our first evening we had to go out to eat and my groceries that I ordered all spoiled. The unit is dated and small. Many issues with things being sort of taped together. The ac is a wall unit that they do not want you to run while you’re not in the room. Which is unfortunate to return to a hot room and then it makes the main room very cold and the actual bedroom very warm. Parking at the property is very expensive. This is not what I would consider a kid friendly unit. The tables are all glass and my two small children barely fit on the pull out couch, which is smaller than a futon. Because of the outage at the building there were no other units available in the area for us to rebook. This was very disappointing. The power did return late our first evening.

The location was great and the place was as listed. The fold out couch was more like a super single. Laundry was close and easy... Could even use a credit card.

Great place to stay. It is an older Hotel they have made some updates.
It was a beautiful time of year to come to Hawaii with it being so close to Christmas.
Lots of things to do. They have a nice restaurant in the hotel called cinnamon We had a great breakfast there the French toast was fabulous.
On Friday night, we enjoyed sitting out on the boardwalk and enjoying the firework show from the hotel next-door. Then after that, we went back into the hotel and enjoyed some music.
Lots of shopping in both directions from the hotel.
Lots of great places to eat. Next -door to the hotel down the boardwalk you’re right onto the beach we enjoyed going out and sitting out there we saw a few turtles while sitting on the beach.
Definitely would come back here.

Please review building parking policy. It’s quite confusing and parking staff is unfriendly. Do not park in the building prior review and understand the policy.

The location was great, the building staff was nice. Having the valet parking was great, kinda pricey but was worth it. The apartment was good size. We spent most of our time out of the apartment so the size was never an issue. It was my husband, myself and my two teenage daughters.

loved the city view. Very clean and spacious. in the city center, we loved walking around the nearby area. We found some great public parking near the place. comfortable bed and sofa bed. enjoyed using the beach chairs and umbrella, so helpful to have that.

BR closet sliding doors were off the track and on the floor, iron handle was cracked, and my spouse was shocked while ironing, the couch was hard and you felt the springs when sitting on it so we had to use the couch pillows to sit on to be comfortable and the couch legs were held together with a bungee cord and my spouse had back pains most of the week because the bed was also hard and uncomfortable. To top it off, the host send me a message saying that she was going to charge me from my deposit because the bed comforters was soiled.

This place worked out perfectly for us. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We mostly ate out, but the unit had cookware and basic spices to make it easy to prepare meals when eating in.
Great view from balcony with plenty of seating. The unit has been renovated recently and was in great shape. To be facing the street, traffic noise was surprisingly unobtrusive.
We had friends staying in three other units in the building, and this one as by far the best. Shockingly, no one else had beach chairs or an umbrella included in their unit like we did! Highly recommended.

Property as pictured. Easy check in procedure. Great city view. Would stay again.

Exactly as described, 2nd floor pool great for sunbathing - quick walk to Ala Moana mall, Lewers Ave/Kalākaua Ave .. all amenities were great !

Perfect place if you want to be in the middle of everything. My husband and I loved our week stay, the apt was clean, quiet and we liked the neighbourhood a lot. The Ilikai also has a great restaurant on the top floor that we recommend, we had lunch and an incredible view! Its also very closed to the Hilton lagoon and the beach. Very walkable to many places. We dined in often and the kitchen had the basic tools. As for the couch in the living room, it is not comfortable so we added a lot of pillows when using it to watch tv. All and all, we would love to go back!

Great apartment with sunny morning view and shade in the afternoon. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of beach gear. Clean with a comfortable bed for two - didn’t try the sleeper couch. Nice property - well kept common areas and lots of visible security.

This place is exactly as listed…great location, very clean, nice accommodations. It was perfect for me and my young adult daughter. From the other reviews, I was skeptical about the a/c unit water pan, but this was no big deal at all! We ran it all night and it didn’t overflow. Each morning I would use a small plastic container to scoop out the water into a large kitchen pan, then dump that. It took maybe 10 minutes to empty the a/c pan completely this way; not a hassle at all!

We enjoyed the convenience and affordability of this rental. The apartment was clean and well stocked with towels and extra bedding (including a nice blow-up mattress). The beach gear was an added bonus and the air conditioning was great for us Alaskans as we adapted to the tropical weather.

The unit is nice and the location is great. Nice little balcony to sit on. Dumping the water pan for the AC unit is odd. Fortunately, my husband had no problems with it.

It was clean. Not really as depicted in photo. You had to take a pail and empty the water off the balcony from under the air conditioner twice daily. You could not run air while you were out hence always returning to hot room, took awhile to cool each time. Every cupboard and drawer was full some with useful items but alot looked like items guests may have left behind. Cluttered. Left our clothes in suitcases. Sofa worn out you sat down on wood frame. I have stayed at Ilikai hotel and would next time, could not recommend . The location is the best thing about it.

This was a great place to stay with a young family. We had a week to see it all and our manager was responsive to every question from where is the snorkel gear to how do we find the utensils. We were very thankful to have her cell number on the welcome message which was picked up every time we called. Will definitely be booking again with her. Bus stops and cab were convenient and gave us easy access to hiking, the beach Hanauma Bay, surf lessons North Shore car rental for a day and Pearl Harbour.

We loved our stay at this property!
Very cute, clean and had everything we needed
We did not use any of the beach stuff, but there is a bunch if you choose to use it.
Nice size patio for people watching, with comfy chairs!
Good location close to beach

Superb location; close to the beach and restaurants. The apartment was well-layed out and convenient. Some of the doors were difficult to use, but we managed. Communication was good with the owner.

Overall great experience. Property was clean and fairly well maintained. Two suggestions…First, WD-40 the right patio door. It was challenging to open. Second, there was no parking pass left and the instructions in the information indicated the keys, pool passes and parking pass were on the fridge. They were not

This property was great for our family of 4. We used the air mattress and couch for our two children. Plenty of linens, access to everything you would need. Would love to stay here again :)

I'm not even sure how to start my review. This room is in the Ilikai hotel (Built in the 60's opened in 1964). The place is almost 60 years old and shows it. The photos showing the place are very deceiving. The mirrors on the wall make it look so much bigger, but it's not. After getting over the moldy smell and looking around, I messaged the owner. I got this message from the owner once I'd checked in - that she has a plumber coming in the next day to fix the toilet. To leave a key for him. Why is this getting fixed when I'm there and not before my stay. I told her there is no bowls in the place to eat out of. This is what I told her word for word. My wife is very disappointed with the condition of this place She is afraid to put anything in medicine cabinet, because the shelves are bowed to the falling out point and it's so yucky looking inside. The air mattress my handicapped son had to sleep on wouldn't hold air. She did replace it on our last night. The list goes on. The countertop has a big crack in it with food and who knows what stuck in it. Photos don't show that. Chains on the blinds were broken off with mold on them. The sliding doors has crud and mold all over them. The plumbing was all working good for us. Well, the shower knob kept falling off. Anyway. I told her to have the person come in after we are gone. My wife was working while on vacation and due to HIPPAA rules no one can see what she's working on.
Speaking of doors. It's a studio apartment that someone put a wall down the middle of. When the door is shut the bedroom has no A/C unit or a fan in it. So much for the privacy claim. You have to leave the doors open to get in air in the bedroom. And the doors are sliding doors that come off the track each time you try to open or close them. Same with the bathroom door.
My son left his swimming trunks on the balcony one day. She used this for an excuse to come into the apartment to address some of the things I told her about when we were gone. Whomever she sent into our apartment tried to fix things. Left bowls and took the shelves out of the medicine cabinet. Some of our personal belongings were missing. I asked the Hotel Security about this and was told you have 24 hours to remove the item from the balcony (bathing suit) They also stated if you told the owner not to come in and it wasn't an emergency. she has no right coming into the apartment when you are renting it. I did then call the Honolulu Police to make a police report.

So as a family we travel numerous times a year to many different destinations.
A clean/ comfortable stay is always our top Priority.
We booked this property many months ago as a birthday trip for myself.
Booking was Easy/ Price was reasonable.
Communication with property owner I didn’t find amazing. I asked back in September about Parking, she said she had a parking pass and it would be giving out the end of the month before stay. So the end of the month before stay I reached out, 4 days later she replied to say no another guest has it, but I taught it was only giving out now!! Anyway Valet parking at this hotel is $35 but the parking garage across the street above red lobster is $28 overnight. Little walk but we parked here.
Entering the apartment as a family of 4 we realised the ‘sofa bed’ was tiny. This would not hold 2 people to sleep on it, it’s not a proper sofa bed more just the back of it dropped down. My 8 year old slept on it alone and said it was very hard and uncomfortable.
My 12 year old had to go on a blow up bed as was not enough room for them to share.
Than we went to unpack our clothes, There is literelly no space whatsoever, the closet is full of beach stuff, yes this is great to have all the chairs/towels etc. but storage could be better
The drawer unit is completely full with towels/blankets etc- yes great you get extra towels but how do we put our clothes away??
Lastly the wardrobe, yes 1 wardrobe between 4 people, there was space to hang up our clothes but the shelves above again filled with extra blankets etc so couldn’t use this
Lastly we done a small food shop but the kitchen cabinets are so full of food that we had to just leave ours sitting on the counter.
Who wants to use old food left behind??
It was quite a disappointing stay as it was for a milestone birthday and my husband knew I was upset with our choice, it honestly did feel like we were guests in someone else’s house.

We love love love Waikiki and have been there many times. This time around, we decided to stay likai Hotel and rented this so claimed 1 bedroom suite sleeps 4. The unit is a bachelor suite which has a wall put up to turn it on to a bedroom. As a result, there is no ventilation / AC / FAN in this room which made warm nights. The couch (shown in the picture) is not what was there. There was another couch there which could only sleep my 10yr old - single bed. We had a choice of folding the couch flat to turn into bed to sleep one OR have the kids sleep on the floor. For the entire stay, my kids slept on the floor despite us having to pay for a unit that sleeps 4. I sent a message to the owner on VRBO app and for the entire stay, she did not respond. We've been back for 2 weeks now and have still not heard from here.
Outside of the false ad for number of people who can sleep here, the unit was not very clean (dust on furniture, on ground etc), the kitchen sink was clogged so water would take very long to drain (very disgusting). The toilet in the bathroom was also broken as it never stopped running so we could hear it running all day / night which added to the frustrating while sleeping in the "so called" bedroom.
The balcony was a mess with 1/4 of the balcony piled up with junk including dead plants/plots, vacuum etc.
I have pictures & videos of this disgusting and would advise anyone thinking who wants to stay here to save their money and go someplace else.
I am not one for leaving negative reviews but our experience was so bad that I thought it would be very important to share what our family went experienced while staying at this place. Hope this helps you with your holidays and decision!

Excellent location and wonderful accommodations. If you are considering this place, just do it already!

The condo was as seen in pictures. It was the perfect place for us and the great value for money spent. Everything we needed for beach time was supplied and we used it. Other family members stayed at Ilikai and didn’t have near as much supplied to them. The view was amazing and at night with all the city lights breath taking. I highly recommend this unit.

This property was a good value for the money. We loved the location.

My main complaint was having to empty the pan under the air conditioner. That should not be the responsibility of a paying customer. Also, towels were an issue. We had to wash on more than one occasions towels.

This was a very good experience for us staying at the Ilikai. The room is very comfortable although the sliding doors are all very sticky. We enjoyed walking to the beach and to the stores in Waikiki. Wee got everything we needed in the kitchen too. And the parking deal was also perfect.

Well-stocked unit, responsive property manager
Love the location of the Ilikai and have rented multiple units here in the past. This unit was better stocked than the others we've stayed in, especially their beach equipment. City view was beautiful at night. Depsite being high up, you hear plenty of street noise but it didn't bother us. The sound machine at night helped. Cleanliness was just average for a rental. Property manager was responsive to our issues/questions. The parking permit was a good deal. Close to elevators and laundry room, which was great. The layout (1 bedrooom, small futon, and inflatable mattress) was perfect for our family of 4, which included 2 kids.

Great location, nice space.
The location was great, plenty of space, and a nicely appointed kitchen. Only issue was we needed to use the second bed and the host assumed that the two guests would be sharing the main bed so a second set of sheets were not supplied. However, when we brought this up, we got a prompt response and the host drove from the other side of the island to bring us another set of sheets.

College Visits
We took our 17 year old to visit Chaminade and University of Hawaii. The place was perfect for the three of us. It is within a short walking distance to Waikiki Beach and the man-made lagoon. We opted for the beach multiple times a day. There is also a fireworks show every Friday night. You are also within walking distance to great shopping. The condo was clean and had everything we needed.

We honeymooned in Hawaii and this was the perfect place. It was nice to have our own place. Nice kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful views, we even had dinner on the porch with the city view. Not too far of a walk from Waikiki.
