This hotel could have potential because of the location. Playa Maroma is very nice compared to other beaches. well… depending on when you go there is some algues around the beach but that’s pretty clean and water is beautiful.
sincerely the food is not worth it. Most of the time when you go to the buffet, everything is empty. there is lack of choice and most of things have any taste. If you think you’re going to find better in the restaurants well… know that first you have to reserve each restaurant 2 days before because there is only a few tables and every day is full. Then food is not good except from the Japanese where you can find some good sushi’s made in front of you.
I don’t know if that’s this hotel but don’t reserve the excursions there because that’s expensive and absolutely not worth it you can find way better in internet. plus, the girl lied about a lot of details.
rooms are not well cleaned, and most of time things were missing like shampoo or towels. they make you believe that you are kind of privileged because you booked a premium luxe but that’s the same rooms than the others we met that they were regular.
the hotel have lack of ambiance. friends told me they had shows and lot of animation at their hotels and this one is dead. I saw some people put their own music because there was any at the pool.
we asked if we could have the room two hours at the check out because we had a late flight and a kid. we wanted to enjoy a little more the pool. they told us okay in the morning and at 12:00 they told us that wasn’t possible. we waited 3h at the lobby without doing anything.
there is preference to people who give tips at the bar or at the pool. they forgive you if you don’t give them.
finally Manager has lack of experience I mean when you’re dealing with issues you try to find solutions. she didn’t know anything she seemed lost.
there is some staff who could let their job to other persons who want to work because really they are not smiling. when you ask them something they seemed bored or they answered like you disturbed them. But I want to thank people from the Japanese, Giovanny, guys wearing green t-shirts because they were great.

Ambiente, piscina, praia, comodidades do hotel.
Alguns restaurantes temáticos podiam ter mais qualidade.

Relaxing environment. Beautiful beach and wild life. Right activities from the entertainments. Tasty buffet restaurant. Staff always available.
The restaurants:The Japanese is not a Japanese selection. Ketchup and peppers used everywhere can’t be Japanese. The steakhouse selection is poor and quantities are small sized. I finished my meal and I was still very hangry. Moreover the air conditioning is freezing inside these restaurants if you’re on the wall. Because of all these it’s better going to the Buffett. You got all the restaurants selections and more with all the plates you want there.

100% why I came is Playa Maroma
Food at Grill, Coffee bar and breakfast at the Buffet were above expectations. The reservation system to book a restaurant is difficult to get a reservation for specific restaurants on any given night. People who worked the resort work really hard to make your stay good. Front desk people were the worse we interacted with on the resort.

Nice beach resort and good value for money
10€ more and the room was 100€ nicer. No chance to rebook though and reception staff could be friendlier.
Food was so so but I guess you cannot expect too much for that money we paid.

the rdacilities were nice an clean, the staff was super nice
We got served uncooked chicken one night and another night my wife ordered fettuccine Alfredo the brought out her plate and pasta was under cook, they offered the replaced her plate the second time the brought out spaghetti pasta with Alfredo sauce again the pasta was under cook so she gave up and ended up ordering a simple salad, not what she originally wanted

The room was overall clean and with plenty of space. The staff was extremely welcoming, i would give them a 10/10. The food was OK and we had breakfast, lunch and dinner several times at the buffet. There is plenty of wildlife around and a not overwhelming amount of seaweed in the water (note that facilities close by were submerged with seaweed). They organize nice activities throughout the week, which is nice given that the location is not close to the city and nights could get boring without some sort of entertainment. Overall a nice experience that I would do again as the price was competitive. Also, they have vegan (wife is vegan) options available at the buffet (less options at the different restaurants where you need to get a reservation), it was nice to see that it was not just salad and vegetables, but also edamame, tofu, soy-based proteins. Also, be grateful to the staff as they work in extremely humid and hot conditions but always put a smile on the face and say hi whenever you are around.
For the price and the overall experience there is not much I can complain about as I enjoyed my stay there. If I were to highlight one aspect that didn't sit well with me was pool water temperature. It was hot, like bath tube hot. You expect to get into the pool to find relief from the hot weather, but you enter a warn pool which is kind of weird to me.

The facilities in general, the room distribution, loved the Arome coffee shop
The attitude of the personnel in some areas like waiters at the buffet restaurant, restaurant reservations and mini market cashiers.

We really enjoyed Catalonia Playa Maroma. Hobbie Cats(catamarans) are included without additional cost and we enjoyed that daily! They also have kayaks. The food we really enjoyed, but you need to make reservations, except for the main buffet. The desserts were better than most other all-inclusive resorts. Monkeys and other wildlife are seen throughout the nature preserve in the property. Natural ‘made to order’ smoothies made our stay super enjoyable and excellent cappuccinos, were a plus. The mango margaritas tasted like Bellinis. They also offer crepes, which are not normally offered at other resorts. The room was tastefully decorated, Bathroom very nice, bed was comfortable and AC worked well. Palapas, plenty of beach chairs; Hammocks; Service was great. Beach was great even though seaweed was there half the stay (all based on currents), but that’s the case all over this area regardless of the resort. Secrets Resort is nextdoor, it’s 3 times as expensive and it has just as much seaweed on days where the current was bad. Both resorts have machines to rake it off. Even considering this, the views from beach chairs to the ocean horizon with nice breeze is priceless. Overall I give this resort 5 stars. I hope we can come back to enjoy more in the future.
Something I ate one night affected my stomach.

Food is outstanding. Super clean rooms. Privileged upgrade is a must.
It can be very noisy, specially if you're close to the pool.

the hotel is nice! but it’s not for young ppl. if you looking to party this is not the place. if you looking to relax and chill this the spot. also I notice the 4days we was there not to many color ppl stays at this hotel and oh trust & believe “they” will stare at you as if you’re in the wrong place lol but overall the hotel is beautiful and the staff was the best!!!
the loved the beach

the courtyards were so pretty. loved the colours of the buildings and the fountains. nice beach
-lunch places were too slow so hardly ever got lunch
- too many coatis
- book exchange closet wasn’t taken care of
- beach chairs were awful! in the privilege section they came and changed out the older lounge chairs which had knee support and were comfortable for the back. The new lounge chairs that were left in place were very uncomfortable so we moved!! We are beach people and comfort is important!!!

We loved the entire stay! Everyone was very friendly and would do whatever necessary to make our stay the best! The dinning was spectacular, as a result of exceptional customer service and great meals. Although they can be a pest for some people, the Coti were cute and a joy to observe.
While dinning in most of the specialty restaurants provided us with the best cuisine, the acoustics created a very loud atmosphere. The only other negative statement I could possibly make is that they were not very prompt at clearing the sea grass from the beach.

We really enjoyed the all-inclusive formula and the quality of food. The personnel was exceptionally nice everywhere in the hotel, polite, smiling, kind. The rooms were very comfortable.
For information: the "deluxe premium" room is not really better than the "premium", the only difference is newer furniture and decoration, but same size, same features.

MAJOR overall LIKE
Staff - genuinely friendly, good teamwork table service in all restaurants, appreciative, really made our stay enjoyable. So appreciated the lovely farewell "treat" from Lina (Food & bev. Mgr. on our last night)
Food of excellent selection & quality.
Liked the extensive amount of shade trees at beach & chairs with knee adjustment when we could get them.
MINOR overall
-Lack of small denomination peso's on hand to break down our lg. For tip $. Had to return to front desk multiple times to get what I could in small batches.
-Not enough of the beach chairs had the adjustment feature to raise knees, a nice feature for those of us with back issues.
- suggest Verbal notification to guests at check in re: no smoking on property AND no feeding animals as many ignored the infrequent signage.
-DESIGNATE the first eve. seating time in alacartes as when families with young children can book & no later. Admittance. That way those of us who do not want to experience tired children can avoid.
-suggest food trucks have someone to check on their supply needs & deliver more frequently so customers don't have to wait 20 mins for a burger bun to arrive.
- did not like the layout of pool bar being so close to shallow area of pool where small children were exposed to drunk behavior/language. Should be at opposite end.
MAJOR - boo to some fellow tourists who after 3 years of Covid don't have a clue about buffett hygiene...ie use tongs not fingers, NO used plates get taken back for refill AND DO NOT eat from your plate until return to seat.

The resort was always clean and be organized, and the ambiance of it was vibrant with decorations. Everything wasn’t far from each other. There’s plenty of options for food on this resort, and cuisines. Unlimited drinks and entertainment. The staff asked checking to make sure you were having a good time. Overall it was an good start, this resort is mainly built to suit families and older couples.
So during our stay there were two outages. There’s wildlife around the guests that seemed to be everywhere. You don’t know what the resort offers event and activity gwise until you get there. The staff seemed as though their English was very limited when asked detailed questions. There were reps at almost every location trying to get guest to sign up for either pictures or exclusive timeshares. So this made it a little harder to fully relax. The music didn’t send to be diverse enough. Lastly, everything closes around 10:30-11:00, so there isn’t any late night ventures except for one club that opens until 2am.

Great staff. Good selection of restaurants and the food was good. They did really well accommodating food allergies. Rooms were clean and comfy beds. I understand we were in one of the renovated rooms. Very tropical and lots of wildlife (Coati, monkeys ,Iguanas, and birds
Beach had palm trees for shade.
Beach had lots of seaweed and garbage mixed in on windy days. Not really hotels fault they did try and cleanup but mother nature took over.
Couldn't get a late checkout, room service had a very limited menu not good for early excursions or gluten allergies.

Beach: We did not know before arrival that the beach Maroma where the hotel is, is one of the best rated. We can confirm that the beach is indeed really beatiful.
Dinner: All the meals we took at the restaurant of the hotel were really good (especially the mexican dinner, the asiatic dinner "Ayami" and the breakfast at "Bloved"). The staff there is also excelent.
Room: The rooms was spacious and the bed really confy.
Animation: The animation crew and the activities around the pool were realy nice.
We even took reservation for our Diving lesson (in the pool and then in the coral recife near) directly in the pool area.
Noisy: The first room we were in was a twin room with only a two thin wooden door to separate us from noisy neighbourg... The hotel was kind enough to switch us to another location. But my advice would be to ask at the reservation to avoid the trouble.
Pushy: As with most All-Inclusive hotels in Mexico, there is this program that "YOU NEED TO LEARN ABOUT NOW" ; If you can avoid it, do it.
They show you the accomodation of the hotel and the best plan to come back as much as you want. The tour is supposed to be 1h long and took for us half a day in total (on our 4 days in the hotel, it seemed way too much). At the end you're given a small discount for purchased in boutique (restrictions applies, obviously) and in the SPA (only 1 massage... even though we are a couple, and both of us lost a lot of time...).

This was my first all-inclusive resort experience, and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it! All the staff was so incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The pool was large with several different depths and a swim-up bar, the drinks were never-ending, and the beach was GORGEOUS!
My room was very large and the bed was SO comfortable it was like falling asleep in a cloud every night. I liked that there were little food trucks by the pool / beach area so that you could get snacks at will! The food in the restaurants was overall very good; lots of variety and was easy to make reservations. Perhaps it wasn't Michelin-quality, but I wasn't expecting that for an all-inclusive!
Overall, it was a very relaxing, rejuvenating stay and I'm very glad I chose Catalonia Playa Maroma!
My room did smell a bit of mold, probably due to the humidity. This is not the fault of the housekeeping staff, however; Linda was great - and even made me cute little towel animals! I would also say that I wasn't blown away by the quality of the food in the restaurants, but I think that's to be expected!
