Location is right by the sea. Cabins with aircon and warm shower.
Staff very friendly and welcoming. The place feels like a harmonic community.

Very comfortable, spacious, clean and also surprisingly quiet and fresh tents. We slept very well. The staff was excellent. The location is great for diving and snorkeling trips, for organising excursions to the nearby islands and sights and for walking to local beach restaurants and exploring the area. Breakfast was very nice. The diving center had great instructors with respect for and awareness of the natural environment, small groups and beautiful wooden boats taking you to the sites. Great experience both for accommodation and diving.
Some of the diving gear could be newer.

You can book all your activities from there, staff is super friendly
You have to pay the marine park fee for each night your staying which would be perfectly fine if the beach and the surrounding area were clean. But you can see trash everywhere. The snorkeling and diving sights where clean at least.

The staff were friendly and helpful and all of the guides were extremely knowledgeable. We learnt lots about history and culture on the tours in addition to the information about sea life. The location was like paradise, right on the beach in a secluded bay. We had not dived before and did a try dive - our guides were extremely helpful and patient while we were learning, we are definitely keen to do it again now! The food was good with lots of vegetarian options - everything was made fresh for us. Our tent was clean and comfortable. We received a very warm welcome on arrival.
The bathrooms were always clean but could use a little bit of TLC and the WiFi was not the best at times but we were very remote.

I stayed in a tent which was quite comfortable even with light, fan, power outlet and a locker. The location is perfect for diving and on a budget. Nice restaurants to eat nearby at the beach. The manager Simon is always friendly. Loved the lounge area as well and everything was very clean. Would come back here.
It would be nice to have more dinner options at the restaurant (a la carte like the lunch menu which was nice) and also the possibility to have dinner before 19.30. Not a deal-breaker though ;)

The location is perfect, the staff is great.
The diving center is right there and they offer multiple excursions, very comfortable.
The meals provided at lunch and dinner were very good.

I really enjoyed my stay here in the tent zone! Just steps away from the ladies' bathroom which was well-maintained and always clean. The tent is as described and was perfectly comfortable for my stay! I feel that it may be a little small for two, but it was perfect for one. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler!
The restaurant and relaxation area are nice. Staff were lovely, from the restaurant to the diving center. The best part is that there are several places to get a drink or dine nearby if you'd like (I recommend Pamela's on the beach, just two minutes walk away!)
I would definitely consider staying here again, good value for money!
The shower is cold-water only. Not a dealbreaker as Mafia is very, very hot, but if you come after

The tent is functional, with light, plug-in to charge your devices, there is a fan. The tent are really well located, just next to the dive shop. The breakfast was good. And the staff is really nice ! Honestly, if you want to come to Mafia for diving and are on a budget, this is the best option !! And the dive shop is great. Totally recommend !

Big ups Muri and Ash and the other staff at the hotel. Friendly and great atmosphere. The hotel was really cozy and the location was great! I will definitely recommend Big Blu!

A great location, specifically great for family vacation. Friendly people, ready to help always. Nice food. Good facilities to enjoy the marine park.

Facility
The hotel is very expensive and didn't give a discount for people staying at the hotel to do diving or other facilities. Everything will be charged and they dont offer free drinking water! Only Hotwater for tea. Our room was clean but there was a lot of cockroaches, spiders, ants and even lizard.

Great spot to base yourself for diving off Mafia. The beach is FAR nicer than on the other side of the island (from which you do snorkelling with whale sharks) so it is a much nicer spot to stay and relax. But the beaches still aren't as nice as Zanzibar. We really enjoyed our stay at Big Blue - really friendly helpful staff, great dive centre, nice bar / restaurant area with good food.
Longer term stays are expensive due to having to pay the daily park fees.
Wifi wasn't great.
