Einfach aber sehr sauber, freundlich, ruhige Lage

Sehr freundliche Damen, die das kleine Hotel führen. Sehr sauber, mit Balkon und einem Blick auf den Hafen. Gute Klimaanlage, bequemes Bett. Die Lage war günstig weil fußläufig stadtnah genug aber ruhig am Ende einer Wohnstraße. Gleich um die Ecke ist eine sehr gute Taverne mit Meer-/Hafenblick. Falls man zufällig seinen Mietwagen bei einem namhaften internationalen Autoverleih mit "E" mietet - er befindet sich an der nächsten Straßenecke, auch in der Hinsicht war die Lage sehr günstig.

Das Bad ist klein. Wenn man etwas größer oder breiter ist, könnte es eng werden.

Very good

Quiet hotel, 24hr reception and the couple were very helpfull in arranging a morning taxi to the airport for me and other assistance. Very good English spoken. Isn't far down the road to the main road where there are minimarts and Kantinas etc.

Some mosquitos entering either via the bathroom or air conditioner ducts. Got several shoulder bites during the night. Just a heads up that you may encounter that, so prepare accordingly.

Superb

Only 10 mins away from the ferry port, which is great if you need to catch one early in the morning. Yes you can hear the planes but it didn't bother me, as the last one I heard was at about 11pm? Room was big and clean, bathroom is decent, balcony is a plus ! The staff is very kind and there is also a luggage storage service which is great to drop luggage before check in. Huge bonus : there is an elevator ! I found in Greece there aren't many hotels with elevators but this one does and it makes it so much better specialy if you don't travel light, like me.

Bear in mind the hotel is up a hill, so if you come from bus station with heavy luggages, you'll be experiencing quite a workout. Do not use the stairs shortcut proposed by google maps and follow the road instead.

Poor

The staff at the Poseidon were amazing. Super kinda friendly and helpful -- especially helping connect me to a taxi driver when I lost my phone in his cab. Also apologetic for the mosquitos. I can't speak highly enough of them!!

Awful night. We got absolutely zero sleep. The hotel said the city has a mosquito problem when we checked in but when we checked out we were told that the hotel has tried disinfection. Anyway, we kept the doors closed and lights off as directed. However, there were new mosquitos coming in all night. We could hear them in the heater/ac unit so perhaps there was standing water there? It seemed like a problem with our room. My parents in the next room had no problem and we had no problem while out and about in the city. Our baby got soooo bitten :( If it weren't for this problem, the hotel would be a great budget option for people catching the ferry in Herakleion. But it was not worth it for no sleep.

Budget accommodation with TOP NOTCH 5 star service!

Great little hotel with a neat retro vibe, and most wonderful welcome! I had wanted a cheap, super convenient location as I was only going to be in the room for a few hours to rest up before my 1 am ferry to Santorini, so my needs and expectations were minimal. However, I was most pleasantly surprised. While this may be a bare bones/budget accommodation, Ms. Irene and staff (I apologize I do not not recall the gentleman's nor other woman's name and also apologies as I believe I may have neglected to leave a housekeeping gratuity ), were most accommodating, kind, welcoming, and warm. While my room had only bare necessities, it didn't feel cold or like an after thought for some reason (maybe the warmth of Ms. Irene and staff or the character of the building resonated with me into the room...??), but it was very comfortable and welcoming and had everything I needed (sans a coffee machine/kettle). The bed was comfortable for me (considering what I had experience in other typical "Greek/European inexpensive/mid-range rooms - even in pricer ones at that). Had a mini fridge, TV, wifi, and super hot good pressure shower. Although, as typical, a rather small shower and bathroom. I can see it being somewhat difficult for more than one person to stay for any extended length of time; but for me, I didn't mind, and actually found it to be part of my "Greek experience" :). Again, I can't say enough about the warm, kind, and accommodating welcome I received from everyone there. I has mistakenly opted to walk from the bus station, which wouldn't have been an issue at all since it IS very close; however with two suitcases, one rather large, and picking a route that took me uphill, it was a struggle. I was greeted with kindness and assistance; able to store my luggage and "put myself together", before venturing out to explore Knossos.

Nice one-night-stay @ Poseidon Hotel

We booked the Hotel because we needed to take the ferry the following day & it was a really good decision. The hotel is right next to the port - just a 5-10 minute walk. You don’t have to walk the stairs, there is an extra road to get to the port too. The hotel crew is really lovely & the room was clean & not too small. The romantic sound of the airplanes, wasn’t too bad for one night. ;-) Thank you Poseidon Hotel!!!

lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff - but hard mattresses

The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating, both before and during our stay. It was also very helpful that at least some of them spoke very good English. The location is ideal for the airport. The aircon in the room works beautifully.

The bed, sadly, was uncomfortably hard.

Place to stay for a night near the harbour

- Location close to the harbour so good for late arrival/early departure. Edge of the city so parking more easily available than in the center so also could be used before/after flight as airport is also near by

Close to tyhe port, if you need to take a boat in the morning. In walking distance.

Even the windows keep the noise , all the flights start just above the hotel...so it is even a bit hard to speak. but nighttime they have a break art the airport.

It was cheap but as not as cheap considering some of its drawbacks.

Extremely small bathroom, the room flooded. Quite far from the city centre and down the hill,meaning it is a steep climb to reach the centre.

We had a very good stay. The personal is really friendly and the hotel cozy, old fashion as you can’t find it that often anymore. You here the plans, but you here them everywhere in the town. It was very clean and we had an really nice view to the port

Spacious room close to the city with views to the port

The hotel is very close to Heraklion airport. The staff was lovely and very helpful and the room spacious. It came with a balcony with ample views to the port.

It could use a bit more comfortable bathroom and beds.

Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, and a fantastic location. The view is incredible - right in front of the harbour, so you can watch the ships come and go. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We would have loved to stay longer!

Great before a ferry ride

Clean basic room, 10 min walk from the ferry, very polite staff.

Shower is a bit odd but doable, tiny bathroom, on the path of the airplanes, so quite noisy.

Close to port, outdated and not comfortable

We got room oriented toward the port, as we required. We asked when booked, and this could only be resolved on check-in. Receptionist was polite. The only reason we booked this hotel was the distance from the port, and we got that. Room is unwelcoming and not comfortable at all. It is a bit further, but city center is accessible by foot. Stay here only if you are desperate to be close to the port in the morning.

We got room with twin, not with double bed, as we booked. Fridge was turned off when we got into the room, so completely unusable. Room was decorated and furnished last time when the hotel was built, and that was long time ago. Everything is old, pictures are kids drawings. The design of the terrace is also strange, our terrace had window from other room oriented at it??? We were lucky that we haven't seen the neighbours. When you shower, you may think that there is no hot water, but if you wait long enough, and really patiently, hot water will come. Overpriced for the given quality.

Poseidon Hotel

Stayed here the night before my Santorini ferry. The location is spot on. The woman that runs the hotel is gracious and kind. I happened to arrive on a very important religious holiday and she went out of her way to help me get food delivered. The room was utilitarian, but clean. They offered soaps, which my other hotels did not. There’s a small refrigerator, an elevator. And a great view of the harbor. Although the ferry is very walkable, I grabbed a cab to drop me for 7.20 euros. Easy. Definitely would use the Poseidon again.

Take off flight path is directly above hotel - can be loud.

Disappointing

The view and the WiFi signal. The AC is okay.

Suitable for maximum one night if you didn't find better alternatives. The bed is uncomfortable. We find multiple hairs. bathroom is very tiny and old. The room is in general old. The view is great though.

It was really nice hotel with really helpful staff. We needed to get up earlier than we thought for a ferry and nevertheless we got breakfast although it was before time of serving. The room had an air condition and was cleaned every day.

A loud experience

The staff was very nice and welcoming. The rooms were clean. A place that you stay at is you have to catch an early ferry and don't feel like taking a taxi to the port (walkable distance).

It's really loud due to all the plans taking off from the near airport - not the hotels fault, you can expect that from a place just a stone throw from it. Pretty basic rooms, quite spartan really. The bathroomis extra small.
