Comfortable peaceful stay in the city

Very comfortable bed and the place was nice and quiet. The staff were very friendly and informative Quick easy check-in Lots of information in the room about places to go and things to see

The only thing we didn't like was the temptation of the stocked mini bar fridge!

The location of this hotel is fab, the rooms and atmosphere of the place is great, have stayed here quite a few times. However I did feel this time that there was not enough staff, our room was not ready when we checked in at 3pm (although another room was found for us). It just felt very much that the hotel was in total chaos rather than a relaxed atmosphere

Perfect

The staff were fantastic and provided our boxer dog with a cute little dog box with a blanket, bowl and lots of her favourite treats. The food in the co-located restaurant were delicious. The rooms were beautiful and just perfect for a short stay with amazing air conditioning

The only thing to report was a really strange beeping noise that was intermittent in room 17 through the night

good location and facilities

I had bought a new shirt for a wedding we were going to. Unbeknown to me the iron in the room had plastic on the heated plate and when I went to iron my shirt the plastic seared and burnt my new shirt so I had to go out and buy a new one. At the time I did go down to mention it to reception who said sorry, but I just want to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else as it cost me a decent amount of money and a lot of stress on the morning of the wedding!

we had a short stay but it was great value for the money and a very comfortable bed. had two good nights sleep

convenient location, restaurant on site.

some might find the proximity to the intersection to be noisy.

City Break

Great sized rooms with decent inclusive amenities. Kettle, tea bags, coffee machine and a brownie with a small bottle of port for two to share (or not) on arrival. Very well stocked mini bar in the room with varying brands of spirits (paid for on departure). Good sized bed and comfortable bedding.

Lovely accommodation, atmosphere, location and staff. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The feel and atmosphere at City Gate is so welcoming. The rooms we styed in was beautifully designed and very comfortable and relaxing. The furnishing and colour scheme was very modern the bathroom very quirky and cool. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely rebook the property again.

We found the heating / air con system quite confusing to use and did not locate any instructions to aid us with that.

Superb

Decorated nicely ,beds were comfortable, and nice touches left in your room Flapjack and port. Would stay here again. Breakfast was very enjoyable..

The only downside was the stairs going up to the room when carrying all our bags.

Excellent staff and beautiful comfortable bedrooms.

The assistant manager Danny was amazing - I arrived after midnight and he stayed on to let me in which was very kind of him. The room was perfect and had everything you need. The extra touches make this hotel a real gem.

Great value hotel, friendly with nice extra touches. Central for university and city centre.

Friendly welcome. Some lovely touches to the room with a complimentary drink and brownie. Shower was great and bed really comfortable. Best breakfast I have had in a while. Bar nice to have a drink in at night.

Room meant we heard people passing by in the night. Hard to avoid that one!

Friendly staff and comfortable stay, would highly recommend.

The staff was very friendly and it had a very family atmosphere feel to it. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and we would definitely recommend and we will be coming back again.

There was nothing I didn’t like I thought the whole experience was great.

Would definitely stay there again !

Well appointed rooms in a great location 5 min walking to the Cathedral and shopping. LOVED the attached and popular pub/ restaurant and the food was quite good and a varied menu. Very helpful but short- handed staff overall Fid not affect the experience!

It was relatively noisy at odd hours of the night.
