Center City Historic
About this condo rental
Nestled in Lancaster, this charming condo for R 2,458 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Just two blocks from central market, and the convention center. Also within two blocks we have literally dozens of places to eat and drink, as well as shop and play. If you want to be in the middle of the mix, you can't get much closer than this. Our 1871 merchant's townhouse is loaded with character, and flooded with natural light and it's located directly above our own little boutique retail store. The kitchen is well stocked with the tools to make a great meal from the ingredients you picked up at central market. Locally roasted coffee is kept on hand. We also keep some basic tea supplies on hand. We have free off street parking around the back of the building, a rare amenity in the city. Please note that parking in that spot will require walking about one block around the buildings, as we do not have access to the lot from the back of the building. We believe that the original building dates to 1850, with a vertical expansion in 1871 and a floor plan/facade remodel in 1913. The 1871 expansion was for the Frey family, who ran a tobacco company from the store front, complete with a cigar "factory". The 1913 renovations were completed for the Beittle family, who ran a type of general store known as a "racket" store. Our renovations have made the space appropriate for modern use, but with an eye to preserving the historic character of the building. ***Some things to note!**** I do not take long term guests. The max stay is 10 days, no exceptions. VRBO took away our ability to make this a setting, so please don't make me decline you. Also, I'd prefer not take reservations more than 3 months out so that I can manage the renovation plans. Again, VRBO removed my ability to edit that. This is a second floor walk up. Our stairs and banisters are historic, but they are not steep, they actually pass modern code. That being said, if mobility is an issue for you, this might not be the best choice. Our banisters/hand rails were installed when U.S. Grant was president; they do their job, but please don't swing or slide on them. The third and fourth floors of this property are still under renovations. Evan does light renovation work up there on Sun-Tues, and is cautions to avoid making obnoxious noise when guests are present. The hallway and stair tower gets a little dusty sometimes, but not in a way that you would track dust inside the apartment. Lancaster is a charming and thriving small city, but it is still a city, and comes with all the benefits and trappings associated with that. We do have some traffic noise, but it's relatively mild most of the time. Our city does have some homeless people with drug addiction problems. We do have ethnic and cultural diversity that we love and embrace. Lancaster City does not have a particularly high crime rate, and our block is not dangerous by any means. We walk to work every day, but some people may perceive it in a way that makes them uncomfortable. We do ask that our guests are kind and gracious to our less fortunate city residents, but please do not give out money to anyone who might approach you (at least on our block).

The beautifully restored, lovingly decorated, and very well-appointed Beittle House apartment was the perfect location for our first-ever visit to Lancaster. Galleries, shops, restaurants, historical sites, and the famous Central Market were all a short walk from its location on King Street. A slightly longer, very pleasant walk brought us to the Franklin & Marshall campus and surrounding neighborhood. Evan was extremely easy to contact and responded quickly to any questions/concerns we had. We look forward to visting again before too long!

We enjoyed our stay at this beautifully remodeled apartment. It had a very homey feel to it. We loved the look of the historic district (except for McDonald's across the road).

big open layout room. Tasetfully furnished. best part-Parking spot. Much nicer than I could actually afford to live in, in that part of town. Great for an extended stay. And the ice in the freezer was a godsend in July.

This was an amazing place to stay in downtown Lancaster. We were able to walk to everything. Bars, restaurants and the central market were all just a few blocks away. The unit was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the historic feel of the building. Evan was very friendly and gave us tons of info before our arrival. Do yourself a favor and choose this place for a great time. Make sure to visit Evan's store "Larkstone" just below the rental space. We will be back!

A full floor of a beautifully restored mid-19th century building in downtown Lancaster, this apartment is clean and has every detail taken care of, everything you could need in the kitchen. The charm and comfort of the rental, plus easy walking distance to so many great coffee shops, restaurants, galleries, and Central Market make up for the urban street noise that comes with the setting. I hope we can stay here every time we have reason to be in Lancaster!

Beautiful and Cozy Stay
We absolutely loved staying here. The property is beautiful and relaxing. It has an open airy feel that made even our rainy day feel bright. I love that the lights are on dimmers, so we could adjust to our mood. Beautiful large dining table was great for meals and playing games. Perfectly located within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and cultural sites. Definitely want to visit again!
