My family and I used to stay at this hotel many years ago for family weekend stays. We always had fond memories of going there; the swimming pools, beautiful atrium, and the happy hour snacks and drinks offered in said atrium.
We decided to get a room here for a quick overnighter, and take a walk down memory lane. It’s still a large and beautiful hotel… but the area has become sketchy because of the homeless population and the messes they leave. The hotel offers a secured, underground parking lot, but the clearance on said parking lot was way too low for our Yukon to enter. We had to park at the Burger King next door.
The room was very spacious, and the beds were comfortable enough, though they are still painted/decorated in a dated, almost late 70’s era. The atrium, although still there and beautiful, is not used - no snacks/drinks. The outdoor pool’s access door was locked, and the indoor pool’s floor looked a tad dirty. The hot tub water was cold and did not offer a dial to offer a timed warm-up/jacuzzi bubbles. Most of the people coming/going out of there looked as if they lived there, but were 1 step up from living in the streets.
It was fine for a quick night, but we would not do it again, unless they fixed/cleaned things up a bit more.

Went there for a pow wow. Th ehotel was 15 min from the airport and 5 min from the Tingley Coliseum where the fair took place. The hotel is a little old but have great potential.
The people were friendly and the breakfast was good.
Our room was big, more like a suite with a small living area and kitchen.
If looking for dinner or entertainment around, a car is needed, not much at walking distance beside a Burger King.

We honestly ended up not even staying at that hotel because the front desk lady was doing and exchange of pills for money

The front desk was nice, computers where down took half an hour to get checked in. Retraunt was shut down no bar. Pool and hot tub was broken. Property looked to be realy nice back in its day. But has been let go. Floors in the toom when not level. Beds where clean but hard pillows where not desierable. And the esthetics of the room clashed. The tvs where tube tvs way outdated. The curtens where dengy and room smelt like smoke as well as age. Bathroom was okay size. Shower head was cloged and laking pressure.

This place smells. It is in a terrible of town. Almost impossible to find as the sign outside only partially lights up. The parking is in a creepy underground garage that has a broken down bike of some sort covered with tarp and a pink child sock under it with a bicycle cart next to it. The property is like going on a toureof an old abandoned property.

This place is beautiful, and there were many unique things about it. I would stay there again.

It was difficult to get into the hotel. There is a $200 deposit. The actual room had water collected on the bathroom floor, black stuff around the sink drain, the heater in the room /thermostat did not warm and ran all night long, the bedroom had outside lights showing around the closed blinds-no black out curtains, and a cabinet on the dresser was screwed shut.

Disgusting place.

The staff were great. The room had nearly only blinds against a brightly lit car dealership. Shower handles need upgrades.

When the front desk person tells you where to park in the garage so your auto is on camera for safety reasons then you know this is not a good choice. I’ve paid much less for a room and felt much safer. The ceiling is falling down in places in the parking garage. There were numerous very questionable individuals IN the hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. On the upside…the front desk person was friendly and helpful as well as the woman who cooked our breakfast. I could go on and on about the negative but surely my point has been made with this review.

Although the pricing was very good, considering it was during the 2023 Balloon Fiesta, the property itself was run down and could use some TLC..with that said, the staff was very nice, and breakfast was made to order by Olga who was very sweet, as was Laurie at the front desk. But the property itself was less than acceptable, sorry to say.

We had another motel in Albuquerque and it was not safe, or clean. We last minute booked with Barcelona Suites. They were very helpful. Very clean. Min need of a few repairs, but they are in the process of repairing. Would highly recommend it. We will use them again when in Albuquerque

I have grown to love staying here.

This was a terrible place to stay, there were less than desirable people all over the property, it appears to be a long term rental place for low income people. I walked to my room sat there for 5 minutes, after opening my window to 3 homeless people sitting outside, got up and walked straight back out to my car and went to a different hotel. I did not fell safe here nor was the hotel in good repair.

It wasn’t not like the picture and I had to give them $100.00 bucks for a deposit at one time it was probably a great place and the neighborhood not so safe the lady up front was nice .

First off the lady with salt an pepper who worked at 8pm day of 08/26/2023. She was very rude . All I asked was for a tv. She said she couldn’t do nothing about it. She was just covering for somebody. I had to wait for another lady at 7am. There was no tv in my room. Just very terrible service . Would not Recommend going back

Absolutely HORRIBLE hotel, HORRIBLE customer service, Dirty, Non working TVs and telephones, pools were filthy. I would NOT recommend this place nor will I EVER stay there again.

The property is a hotel on one end the other as a place to stay weekly monthly ect.
So some of the guest who were staying not a daily basis had questionable behavior.
The room had an odor and between the rooms was a small room with broken toilets and sinks. So needless to say we did not stay the night.

The advertised made to order breakfast is non existent on Sundays and Mondays because it’s the “cooks days off.” The Barcelona used to be one of the premier places to stay. But nothing lasts forever. You used to get a complimentary beverage in the evening in the beautiful courtyard. The courtyard fountain wasn’t running, which was part of the ambiance. I didn’t feel unsafe, but it’s sad that tile work leading int some rooms is crumbling and the beautiful curtains in the rooms are no longer there, just the cheap blinds. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean. Staff was really friendly. But we would have truly loved to have the “included” breakfast instead of finding a restaurant nearby and spending the extra $$.

Seedy looking people all around.

The Barcelona is indeed unique. A grand and spacious lobby and a striking two-story courtyard with balconies, skylights and towering tropical plants create an ambience of old-Spain elegance. Our spacious suite, accessed along a tiled, enclosed, open-sky pathway, did not disappoint: clean, comfortably furnished and very quiet. Security was impressive, if a bit daunting at first. But the best thing about the place is the people. Everyone was so pleasant and kind to a couple of old folks. (We were in Albuquerque for a medical appointment ). The eclectic collection of guests seemed to echo that spirit of congeniality. I loved it and would happily return!

We got to the hotel around 10 at night probably the worst time to get there, Nothing but junkies at the door, not welcoming at all. Everything was locked ( which was a good thing)The receptionist was nice. The hotel lighting was dim and looked like we were walking straight in to a horror movie. The parking lot was scary and walking to our room was dark and scary. We didnt feel safe there . The TV didnt work, drawers were missing from the dresser. Pictures at hotels.com are mis informing, definitely not worth the price.

I did not enjoy my stay because it was not comfortable. There were a lot of unfit people hanging around. The garage space needs cleaning, wasnt safe to park my car in there. The smoke detectors were going off. I had to change the battery in one and the other I pushed the "hush" button to I couldnt hear the beeping noise. I felt not safe with my stay.

This property is pretty old and needs to be update. Homeless around the area😞

Homeless, drugs, ambulance, fire, police, complacent attitude from staff, high prices and deposits for hard working decent people and allowing crap low life to have access to hotel and no conditions to them. I had to pay $100 deposit for a room at check-in and at checkout to get it refunded the staff needed to personally perform a room check!

It has a nice pool but the environment it allows to be on-site is very uncomfortable for people with families.
We watched a drug transaction right after checking in.
Seems like the local users have made this their hangout spot or they are living there

Complimentary breakfast was not available. I asked the front desk staff and was told that they do not offer it on Sunday.
The front desk attendant when I checked in said there would be breakfast as did the reservation.
The area is quite sketchy. There were many people on drugs coming in and out of the building while I checked in. One had nunchucks on him.
Clearly a high crime area and not a clean or well maintained building. I would not recommend.

I can usually trust Expedia but not this time. The property photos online are outdated and inaccurate. There were roaches and bugs in the room and the linens didn't appear to be clean. The neighborhood was also sketchy and run down. I was so disgusted I asked for a refund but didn't get one. Please reverse the charge on my credit card.

Sketchy area. Had the air from my tire taken out minutes from getting there in the underground parking. One maintenance worker was sooper helpful in getting air in my tire. It was evident it was done purposely. Im hoping to get my refund in a few days as promised.

This is a very poorly maintained property! Very misleading in regards to how they present themselves. Better off to find a $50 or less motel in a not so safe area, you’ll have the same experience! None or partial curtains on east facing room, broken blinds and broken controls for the blinds, door locks not working, broken and run down furniture, stains on sheets, no breakfast as advertised, water was shut off with no communication, transients sleeping on the bench in the supposed secure/gated parking garage as well as transients walking through the main door and lobby being yelled at by management! Extremely disappointing!
