Great stay in the centre of Downtown Nassau. Easy access to local facilities, but still very much a tourist area, so watch out for pricey shops. Hotel recently refurbished and looks great. Room was a little boxy/cosy considering it was an upgraded one. Had an issue on the first day that no servicing was done even though I'd specifically requested it by reception when no-one had turned up by 12 noon. But, it got sorted in the end. I would stay again.

The renovation has made this into a great hotel. Great beach also - not to be overlooked

Hotel was clean. Staff was wonderful. The food was the only thing that fell short. 75 dollars for a filet, you could still see where the jockey whipped the horse.

Incredibly elegant!! The interior designers, the architect, and the owners of the hotel made a magnificent job bringing this amazing hotel back to life, a full transformation from the time it was run by Hilton. I have been in Nassau multiple times, but all of them for business. I will definitely return but on vacation to show this beautiful hotel to my wife.

Beautiful hotel with great service and friendly staff. The food was very good as well. The only down side was how loud the group of women that partied in the room across from us screaming being drunk almost every night until like 3 or 4 in the morning.

Hotel is recently updated. It is beautiful. Our room was smallish for 4 people. Water never got hot but luke warm. Breakfast very good. Location is central to everything. Would recommend.

I liked the stay until check out. Every time you charge to your room they add 5% to the bill without telling you that. Also, the prices did not match what was charged all the time. I took pictures of the receipts every time I charged to the room and it was often entered incorrectly. I recommend using your credit card for every purchase instead of charging to your room. They also promote charging to the room to make it easier for you. Other than that the people were friendly, the room was clean, and the facility was nice.

Fabulous hotel with amazing ocean views, staff is friendly and efficient! Close to shopping and restaurants.

The staff are amazing, warm, friendly, helpful. The hotel new and clean. We had a hiccup upon checking in as we had paid for an ocean view but were put in a garden view room - when we went back to the front desk, they quickly moved us. The room had a very slightly fishy smell but we were able to ignore it. The pool was warm and nice. The area around the hotel is lively all day. The bar was beautiful & drinks were tasty - food not so much and it was the only place to eat on the property (other restaurants are apparently not open yet).
Everything, including the store on the main floor, is extremely high priced and also taxed 10% with another 15% gratuity making everything very, very expensive. This is true everywhere in Nassau.
The disappointment of downtown (this applies to all downtown hotels) is that after 6pm when the cruise ships leave each day, literally everything outside closes down. You only have Oku across the street, a “Gourmet seafood” boil around the corner, or a $$$$ steakhouse with terrible service in the Margaritaville complex to eat, and absolutely nothing else to do other than sit at the bar or watch tv in the room.
Do not make the mistake of walking to the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay at night as we did - it is poorly lit, with no sidewalk in places, and motorcycles racing through the streets. Nothing happened to us but it was scary. Stay close to the hotel after dark.
Overall we had a lovely stay. The staff are what make this property desirable.

This is a beautiful refurbished hotel. You have your own private beach behind the hotel. There are 2 nice size pools. The pool that was suppose to be heat, was very cold. The jacuzzi was warm.but the jets didnt work.
The hotel is cashless which is great. The food was okay but very pricey.
We stayed on the 5th floor and the floor and rooms smelled like a hospital or nursing home. I went and broight clraning solution and still couldnt get rid of the smell.
Hospitality was above excellence.
We did have a problem with the hotel cherging 423 nightly when we had already paid.on arrival. Desk clerk advised it was an system issue and they would correct. Overall, would stay again but on a different floor.

The location was perfect ... easy access to everything, plus a beautiful beach area.
The entire Staff were ourstanding ... very friendly and always smiling, and helpful.
We especially liked Shantiqua and Pukacia (sp?) at the front desk, the doormen, the bar staff, and also Daniel (the Manager) who helped us with a small issue.
The beds were very very comfortable ... and the shower made us feel right at home ...

No hot water for 2.5 days. Only lukewarm. Breakfast good. Bed hard as concrete.

Beautiful renovations and very clean. Our room was next to elevator which made it hard to sleep, otherwise it would have been all 10s!

Beautiful hotel and a well needed rest from seaside tacky hotels nearby. Great view of vessels moving in and out!
Restaurant choices very limited however.

The recent renovations of this resort dating back to 1901 are wonderful in appearance. Water pressure/volume in bathroom is low, hot water temperature is low, hallways, some public areas are too cold. Rooms lack an option for warmth- only cooler or off available. Staff is wonderful except for some front-desk staff who failed to provide correct information, and failed to give wake-up call. The bar/restaurant were great, and their staff excellent.

The staff at the resort were the friendliest people I’ve ever met and I’ve travelled a lot in the Caribbean. They made our stay so much better. The property is so clean. Rooms are spacious and clean as well. Breakfast was amazing everything from making your omelette station to pastries and potatoes, bacon, sausage, assorted fruits was included in the breakfast. The price of the hotel was great compared to other resorts near by. The only thing I wish was different was that the property was on cable beach because the private beach of the resort is small still beautiful but small.

This property was really good and we will definitely be back. I must say though, the pictures on the site gives off a different vibe like “run down” but we were really impressed with everything. Everyone was friendly. Our room didn’t have the best view and that was our only problem. We will book again with a different view. Love it there!

It started very badly, but thanks to the incredible work of Jen.
The hotel is fantastic and we had a great week

Lovely place and so clean and new. Only a couple minor issues…the rooms smell a bit like conch (fish) and the thermostats in the rooms are motion activated, so you have to get up in the night and walk by the thermostat to get the AC to click on. Otherwise it’s too warm to sleep.

Extensively renovated grand old hotel centered in heart of Nassau. Effectively, a brand new hotel in an antique shell. While seemingly fully open for business, this facility and its staff are still in their painfully awkward cold-open phase of operability. The site is beautiful & well appointed but lack of staff experience, oversight, competent & comprehensive management hobbled our enjoyment of this hotel. After a 5 hour check in delay, we were checked to a room with, we discovered, catastrophic bathroom design/installation failures which necessitated a room change but then staff could not deploy said change for another 14 hours. Navigating this challenge was further hampered by poor communication skills & follow-through. We were too exhausted to raise more of a fuss but any other equally rated hotel would've been falling over themselves to voluntarily compensate for these unforced errors. This hotel has obvious potential to be an exceptional destination, but for a while at least in the near future will need to put forth quite some effort improving core service competencies, managerial oversight, and facilities maintenance.

Overall a good property with great location. The morning breakfast staff are amazing. But there are some area still needing to be sorted out. Front desk to maintenance and housekeeping issues.

We watch caucasian customers get serviced hands and foot while we were walked by! After begging for room service we didn’t get the room cleaned until the day before check out 3 days after day. I will give huge kudos to the kitchen staff! They had amazing energy and hospitality. Also the fire pit in the back is too die for!

I know the hotel just reopened after being purchased by the Chinese Government, along with Margaritaville and One Particular Harbour. It shows that there is still lots to iron out. The #1 problem is the horrific smell in all rooms (mine was changed with no difference) which seems to emanate from the curtains. Other issues are that many advertised features and and facilities are still not opened. Maybe in 6bmonths or a year this will be a top hotel, but for now it's just acceptable.

Booked a last minute stay for an overnight in Nassau and had a wonderful stay. Given the prices in Nassau, the British Colonial was brilliant value, high quality service, setting and food all delivered with a smile and great energy. The new refurbishment is very tastefully done (except, perhaps for the TVs showing sports in the main bar), with a modern take on the hotel's historic past.
Food was great throughout, although their main restaurant wasn't yet open. Special shout out to a wonderful buffet breakfast and one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had. Brilliant range of drinks and cocktails as well.
Pool and private beach are well manicured and attended by staff making sure you're looked after. Given that it is right in the centre of Nassau, the pool and beach feel very secluded and private. The cruise ships coming and going make for impressive viewing.
All in all, could not recommend enough. I can't believe the prices will stay at their current level for long so get in whilst you can!

The hotel was recently remodeled, beautiful, and very clean.
The only issue I have is housekeeping was horrible.
One day they showed up at 730pm.
2 days in a row they left their cleaning towels in our room on top of our clean towels.
We were left 2 days without toilet paper. Thank goodness I travel with Cottonelle wipes so we were ok.
On our last day we were left one bath towel, one hand towel, and 4 wash clothes for 2 guests.
I never seen anyone from housekeeping but the carts were on the floor all day and night like they were really cleaning rooms.
One other issue was the smell of fish in the room. It took several days for me to figure out where the smell was coming from.
When I undid the small curtain to one window I realized that was where the smell was coming from. We had to leave the window open the majority of the day to air out the room.

So the hotel has just been renovated and reopened. So condition is stunning and you get great views of the harbour by the cruise ships. However, many of the rooms smell because of the chemicals. Friendly staff, great breakfast

One of the most frustrating hotel stays I have had. Checkin process was delayed, the tv in the room was not working, did not receive maid services, I was unable to order room service because the hotel app was not working and the service at the hotel bar when ordering food was extremely slow.
The staff were very friendly and responsive, doing their best to help. The hotel has also been beautifully renovated.
