Some helpful information about the area: Montana de Oro State Park is a local favorite with beaches, sand dunes, hikes, trails, horse camps and some amazing sights and views. There are also local whale watching and day and overnight fishing boat tours. The nearest airport is in San Luis Obispo (SLO), a 30 min. drive by car. Some of the local attractions include California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. Hearst Castle, built by William Randolph Hearst is about a 40 min. drive north on Highway 1. There are numerous wineries in the Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo areas. The Big Sur coastline is about a two hour drive North. Don’t miss the elephant seals that populate the area in San Simeon along with all our other wildlife. There are great hiking trails north along Highway 1 or at Montana de Oro State Park in Los Osos.
