My partner and I had the most amazing, and relaxing time staying in the most beautiful, romantic and cosiest little cottage we have ever experienced. The open log fire is superb, and supplied with an abundance of perfectly seasoned firewood. The fire was even on upon arrival and the cottage was warm and cosy. The gardens are also beautiful and the location of the property is close to Martinborough and Cape Palliser. This made it a great base to explore from. Jacqueline and Alastair were perfect hosts and are incredibly lovely people. If you want a romantic weekend away with your partner this is definitely the place you want to be. We will be back and I couldn’t recommend it more. A very special place.

This is a comfortable little cottage set in extensive and mature gardens, separate from the owners house, and very private. It's quiet and peaceful, except for the birdsong.
When we arrived it was a cold and windy day, but we soon had a roaring log fire going, and it was very cosy. Everything we needed was provided, including tea, coffee and cake, and the makings of breakfast.
The cottage is well situated for exploring along the coast towards Cape Palliser, and Lake Ferry is close by, with the Lake Ferry Hotel if you want to eat out.
An ideal hideaway for a couple, and we would definitely go back.

We had a lovely time at Whangaimoana. The coach house was delightful, and full of home comforts. We were impressed with the generous breakfast provisions, including eggs from the resident chooks and tomatoes from the garden, and the thoughtful touches, especially the bathroom supplies if needed. It was a relaxing few days, with as much or as little to do as we wanted. Lake Ferry and The Land Girl at Pirinoa (great coffee and local gifts) were only a short drive away, and we were well looked after by the personable Barry. We would not hesitate to recommend Whangaimoana as somewhere to stay that is definitely a bit special.
