This cottage was a winner! Luckily we had good weather on our side. Lots of fans and light. Felt like going back in time to a slower pace. So peaceful. Loved the sunsets/rises from the porch! Beach access was terrific.

A wonderful, original old home right on the water. We all really enjoyed the great screened porch and location. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and we all loved the colorful fiesta dishes! Unfortunately the week we visited was pretty hot so it got quite warm in the upstairs but the fans cooled it off somewhat at night. In addition to the beach down the road we spent a lot of time in the yard and swimming off the rocks. We had a nice relaxing week!

We had such a relaxing time sitting on the porch watching the water and taking an occasional paddle around the sound. Nearby Jacob's Beach was fun with the kids and Red Barn and the Place. Great place to unwind and slow down.

Summer Getaway
We had a great stay at this cottage. Escaping from NYC with a couple of friends and their teen daughter, the screened in porch and view were highlights of this property. We had numerous bar-b-ques, enjoyed relaxing on the porch and going to the nearby local beach to swim and kayak (a local service rented us kayaks and delivered them). The beach that is nearest does not have a sandy bottom, so if you aren't used to lake swimming I would definitely recommend water shoes. (This California girl still isn't used to the rocky and sometimes slimy floor in LI Sound). But there are also other beaches within a short drive.
Just before our arrival there was a power outage in CT from a strong storm, our host was extremely accommodating, keeping us up to date on the status so that we could arrive once the power was back on.
We did arrive during a heatwave, and it was quite hot without the AC, but there were plenty of fans and once the weather broke a little it was absolutely lovely with the breeze coming through.
I would highly recommend for a relaxing vacation and spending fun time with family or friends.

Fabulous old timey beach house
This is a beautiful old beach house, with a rocky shore which the healthy and buff can swim off. It is not small child safe. It has a great screen porch, where we spent most of our time and was wonderful for watching a mega thunderstorm.
Kitchen is new and modern, bathrooms are idiosyncratic, but work (there is a septic system) The shower is under the deck and you have to go outside to get to it, but it is lavish and modern.
Wifi was fast and broad. No A/C.
The beaches are muddy bottomed, and the best one is private and not included with this house.
Fabulous sunrises from the screen porch!

Unplugged on the CT Shoreline
We wanted to get away and relax with family and friends. This cottage was the perfect setting for reconnecting - and unplugging! We had more than enough room for 7 adult guests. There were plenty of bed linens . The kitchen was well appointed. And various design elements (fiesta dishwater, for example) gave the sense of being transported back in time. The setting is perfect for anyone who loves the shoreline. It is rocky. And that brought back happy childhood memories- we used to scamper from rock to rock. We were more deliberate in choosing our steps now. There is a sandy beach very close by. The owner went above and beyond - very welcoming and helpful. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

We had a family reunion and had to change dates a few times and Christina was super flexible and helpful. The house itself was the perfect amounts of peaceful, rustic, and accessible. We watched the fireworks from Madison and Guilford for the 4th of July and completely enjoyed watching our 3, 5, and 6 year olds enjoy the shoreline summer experience. Christina’s instructions and directions were super clear and the house was as advertised. Do note that getting to the shower is a 10 step walk around the outside of house but is perfectly modern and private. Also, upstairs during a hot, muggy day gets somewhat uncomfortable. But neither of those issues turned out to bother us at all as we enjoyed being outside on nice days and loved the fresh air off the Long Island Sound at night. Will for sure come again! Thanks!

A lovely spot with a beautiful view but...
This house is beautifully situated but the house itself is poorly equipped and the bathrooms and shower are not adequate. When there was wind and rain, despite closing the windows the upstairs beds got wet. When the weather was hot the upstairs bedrooms were extremely uncomfortable. The beds were not satisfactory. The screened-in porch is lovely (despite getting soaked during the rainy episode) but the next-door- neighbor's air-conditioning was on all day and night and was terribly noisy.

Great place to Relax and Unwind!
Traveled with my parents who are older and they absolutely LOVED the huge screened in porch with an awesome view of the sound. We sat out there every morning then swam off of the rocks during the day. The community beach is a couple of houses down the street. Guilford is great that it is quiet and peaceful but just minutes from everything that you need/attactions. Homeowners were great. It is a rustic cottage but comfortable. There is no AC though, but for the most part, the fans were sufficient in the evening.

Perfect house to enjoy family and get away from it all.
Beautiful house that has kept the original integrity of the house while giving you some modern conveniences,
I have nothing negative to say and in fact look forward to staying again sometime in the near future !

Beautiful Sea View
We loved the porch and sea views!! Vintage beach cotrage with lovely furnishings and full kitchen. We had a summer heat wave and upstairs got very hot but main floor was nice with sea breeze and fans. Upstairs cooled off at night and after heat wave. Great retreat for my family!!

Tranquil spot with a beautiful view
Just back from my fourth stay at this charming cottage. It is my idea of what a beach cottage should be: rustic, comfortable, cozy and inviting. As soon as I walk in the door I can feel myself relax. Evening dinners on the screened porch enjoying the beautiful water view are special. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked with all the dishes and implements you will need to entertain family and friends.

Great family vacation on the CT shoreline
We booked this in July 2014 and enjoyed a week at 'Little White Top', named after the rocky reef area that surrounds the point. Everyone in the family loved it ... quiet, quaint, a genuine old school gem of a seasonal home with a fantastic protected waterfront location. I kayaked daily, including a couple of longer trips up the nearby river and across the open water to the Falkner Island lighthouse which is now a bird sanctuary. It's a 3 mile crossing so not for the casual kayaker or rough windy days. But there are many great places to kayak to for all skill levels. The coastline here is great to explore with 2 beautiful parks in the area one just a 10 min paddle (or bike ride), beaches, and you can also paddle as far as the Thimble Islands on a nice day. The house was perfect for us with plenty of bedrooms, and the two half baths plus nice shower accessed from the backyard. No TV was great, and nicely balanced by the rock solid WiFi connection. Kitchen had everything we needed and was a pleasure to cook in. Nice to have the 5 gallon drinking water supplies available. We swam both off the rocks and off the little beach just 4 doors down, where you could also keep kayaks if you prefer to launch from a beach. If you swim off the rocks it helps to use water shoes, as it's slippery. The screened porch is fantastic and we spent many a family night there having dinner and playing board games. The view across the bay is great, particularly around July 4th when lots of fireworks are viewable. Just loved it, and the owners were great too, very friendly and easy to work with. Highly recommended, we hope to come back!

Lovely Waterfront Home in Guilford
We rented this lovely cottage in Guilford for two weeks in 2013 and are returning for 2014. One of the best features of the property is its waterfront location on Long Island Sound. You can launch a kayak right from the property or from a beach 3 minutes away. There’s plenty of room inside, with five bedrooms, an eat-in kitchen, a living room, and a screened-in porch; no TV, but there is internet access enabling you to use Netflix or other online providers (essential for our kids, and it worked out great last year). It’s also much more accessible than other summer vacation spots we’ve visited, lacking the traffic hassles of places like Cape Cod.

True New England Cottage
This is a true New England cottage. We come back every year because we love the house, the view, the porch, the neighborhood, the rocks to swim off of out back, and the beach down down the street, among many other assets. It's perfectly located--just far enough from town to feel isolated, but a quick (5 minute) trip into one of Connecticut's most beautiful greens and vibrant town centers.
