We stumbled upon the Watauga River Cabins in a last minute search over Christmas. The description fit reality! This place is very rustic but also spotless and well appointed. They even had a Christmas tree, which was a very nice and welcomed touch. We kept saying it would be a wonderful place to go as a large group. Hats off to this heavenly location! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

Wonderful location and great cabins. Had a great time with all the family and the Christmas trees were absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait to come back in the different seasons. Had family come from GA, SC, OH, and PA so it was a great spot for all of us. Thank you so much.

Quick get away to meet my son for some guy time. Beautiful location, weather was perfect and caught a few Trout. Pleasant evenings for this time of year we’re enjoyed in rocking chairs overlooking the River, perfect.

This property was amazing. We were in town for my mom's 80th birthday celebration. My only complaint was that we didn't get to spend a lot of time at the Cabin. But we will be back to enjoy all it has to offer.

This space was perfect for our motorcycle group. The property has an awesome fire pit for reflecting on your day or just catching up. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the beds were comfy. The living room seating was extremely comfy as well. It was great to have a washer and dryer too! If you’re on motorcycles the roads to the property are all paved and the driveway is short and gravel but very manageable.

The location is perfect, out a country road, looking over the river; rocking chairs to sit and watch the river run. The fishing is great, catch and release only. there is a grill, a gas grittle, and a fire pit with plenty of wood. The cabin units have plenty of space, and all the necessities. The kitchen has stove/oven, microwave, coffee makers (both keurig and drip), pots/pans/dishes/silverware. Roku tv and fast internet as well. The owners are really nice and helpful. They are on premises about half the time and they have a property manager that lives close as well.

The cabins are great and the location was even better…
We went fishing, swimming, sat by the fire and that was all on the property.
It was 40 minutes from the Rodeo in the Valley, and 25 minutes from horse back riding in the mountains at Warrior Stables.
It was an adventure that will last a lifetime!

This was a great cabin. The cabin was very comfortable. The outdoor sitting areas were comfortable and provided great views. Many hours were spent relaxing by the river. The location was secluded and peaceful, however it was convenient to both Johnson City and Elizabethton. Plan to return next year.

This is our umpteenth visit. We wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else, relaxing, comfortable, with plenty of outdoor activities available. Just far enough away from town to feel that you’re away from town! But close enough to run in and grab a cuppa coffee if you need some.

We absolutely loved this property. The river is right in the back yard. There is an amazing swimming hole just a short float down stream. My husband and friends went fly fishing right down the steps to the water. The place is cozy and has all the modern amenities with the perfect antique cabin feel. The doors are all reclaimed old doors, the farm house sink is truly a farm house sink. We rented all three units and the set up was perfect. We dined Al Fresco every night. The river cooled the back yard under the trees- even in 100 degree weather it was comfortable. And no bugs! Best of all, our dog was in heaven. The owners really though of everything and just the right amount of nothing. I came home from this vacation not feeling like I needed a vacation. The pictures can do it justice, so just imagine perfection.

Very nice, quite stay in a very nice location away from all the city hustle and bustle but only about a 5-10 min drive to downtown Johnson City or Elizabethton. Great scenery with the river and the wild turkeys across the road. Would very much recommend for a quite get away.

We love coming here with our family friends. This was our 3rd visit and will continue to have more in the future. We adore the outdoor space and utilize it completely. We call it our home away from home together.

Absolutely perfect vacation spot! Patty & Gary were not only gracious hosts, but helpful in all communications and planning assistance! We stayed in the Hemlock, and REALLY enjoyed our stay! The fire pit was WELL stocked with logs, and the location directly on the Wautauga River was not only convenient for fishing but beautiful to look at! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (And we WILL be back again!)

Photos and description of property are very misleading. It’s more like a community center, not a private setting.

We enjoyed the property--very homey. Loved the outdoor seating opportunities by the firepit (lots of firewood available!) and for looking over the river. It was very romantic and relaxing. Perfect for 2 history nuts to have access to Elizabethton, Jonesborough, and Rocky Mount Historic site in Piney Flatts. Our only glitches were that 1) we did not understand that we needed to select "select" before putting in the key code when we arrived. Also 2) it turned cold and we did not know how to turn on the heat. However, calls to the manager next door resulted in amazingly fast help within minutes.

We absolutely loved this slice of peace on the river. The property was all well taken care of; everything needed was provided; the views breathtaking. We enjoyed talking with the other guests & the property managers. Peace & tranquility plus quaint towns nearby. We enjoyed all this plus attended the Bristol weekend races. Very pleased with visit & so was my sister & brother-in-law who camped on the property as well. We plan on coming back.

We have been coming to these cabins for years. We have stayed in every cabin, and they are all just amazing. The sound of the river flowing is so peaceful. There is plenty of outdoor seating for all the guests to be outside and yet not feel like we are in the same space.
If there ever is an issue, Phil is quick to resolve it.

My wife and I stayed on this beautiful property with gorgeous views. I’m a pastor and anytime I can get away to refresh my soul I do it. This was the perfect place for me to do it and we will return soon.

It was great to come back to Hemlock Cabin! Our home away from home while returning to NE Tenn. for our annual family reunion. (Our 5th. stay) The cabin is well appointed, clean and has a great location. The hosts have thought of all our needs and are always very welcoming! The extra bonus is that they are pet friendly! This year our dogs stayed home with a friend, but they have stayed with us at Watauga in the past and were welcomed as well.

We loved the location w the River in the back yard, but the cabin needs a really deep cleaning, floors were awful, shower floor was grey, lots of cobwebs and doors don’t fit closed inside. The pretty antique cabinet in master is just not practical to put anything in. Twin bed room had been updated but granddaughter found bugs in shower and wouldn’t stay in or even use the bathroom there. Wouldn’t stay again.

What a fabulous cabin with gorgeous views all around. I would highly recommend staying at the Watauga River Cabins. Played cornhole, grilled out and enjoyed a nice outdoor fire with the family.
