Filthy condition throughout (eg human hairs in the bed, excrement on the toilet seat, dirty dishes and cutlery in the sink, etc). General condition of property very poor too with ripped sofa, heating not working in one area, generally bad maintenance, etc. Absolutely disgusting. So bad, we contacted VRBO who were unable to resolve and we checked out within 24 hours. We still paid for whole stay despite cutting our vacation short and having to pay extra to change our ferry back to the mainland. Owner called us a couple of weeks later and acknowledged that the place was not cleaned and did not receive any refund or apology just an attitude. Do not waste your money like we did. We are more than $1,000 out of pocket for a stay we never completed.

We had a great two weeks at The Homestead. The property is large and beautiful and the house is as pictured with a historic feel, key updates for comfort, and a relaxed, unfussy vibe. It was great to be a quick drive or walk to Mansion beach (we found driving to be the thing when taking beach chairs and such, but enjoyed morning and evening walks as well). It was also a short walk to Andy's Way and of course an easy drive to town and such. We enjoyed watching deer visit the edge of the property every evening, lounging by the fire pit, reading a bit about the history of the house, and of course relaxing on the covered front deck. If anyone's wondering, the downstairs pull-out sofa is quite comfortable! There's also an outdoor shower (unenclosed but handy), which we'd wondered about before our arrival. We were quite content so had little need to communicate with Chuck and Emily, but they responded quickly when we did. Thanks to both of you for sharing your home!

We had a wonderful visit, the house is very comfortable and we loved making dinner and eating on the front porch after long, lovely days at the beach. We'll definitely be back!

Peaceful vacation
We loved staying at the house and the owners were very accommodating, helping us with some unique needs and were great to work with! Very responsive! It is a perfect property, well maintained and with great charm! We enjoyed staying and hope to be able to book it again in the future! It set the stage for a relaxing and fun vacation for our whole family!

We needed a comfortable spot for ourselves, a friend and our one year old Golden Retriever....perfect. Close to our new house (under renovation) and a short walk to a great beach. House had everything that we needed. Comfortable and warm after a long day outside on the job site.

A Welcoming Change!
With everything that was going on,virus,hurricane,power out for a few days ,right before we arrived, it was a blessing. Beautiful area, close to Mansion beach & Andys Way, which both were enjoyed. Had 11 in our group, and nice to sit outside to see the stars in your own big yard. A nice walk to the beach also.

Clutch location - perfect for our extended family
This is a CLASSIC BI home. Oozing in charm and character and exceptionally well suited for our family. The well-stocked kitchen had all the necessary cookware and utensils for dining in, and ample outdoor seating meant that we enjoyed meals al fresco. The yard is HUGE - perfect for cornhole and Wiffle ball with the kids. Hands down the top selling point of this property is the location. Walking distance to mansion beach for sunrise and a quick hop in the car to the North light for sunset. A mile to Andy's way for clamming or a quick hop into town for shopping and dining out. We all agreed that of the 20 years we have been coming to the island this was our favorite property.

Perfect Location and Accommodations
We celebrated thanksgiving with our family on Block Island and could not have been more pleased with staying here.
There was enough room for us all and it afforded privacy for everyone while keeping us close by. The kitchen was perfectly well stocked including equipment to prepare an entire thanksgiving meal.
We had fast access to the beach and all the shops, the grocery store was only 5 minutes away for the last minute items.
It really was a perfect place and we look forward to renting it in the future as well.

Beautiful house !
My family rented this property for my wedding location and place for our family to stay this October and it was absolutely perfect ! The property is beautiful! The owners were super easy to get in touch with! The grass was long when we arrived and within hours they had someone there to get it taken care of before the wedding! Our pups loved running in the huge field and can’t wait to come back !

This property is exactly as advertised and then some. Super short walk to the beach, very close to town, and beautiful home and guest home sitting on a massive yard. Chuck and Emily were great hosts. Would love to return

Wonderful family getaway
We’ve stayed at many places on Block Island, but as our family has grown with kids’ spouses and children, things had become very cramped.
This location was ideal. We had lots of family time, but also had 3 separate buildings. The little ones could nap in their cottage, while activities continued in the Main house. There were big dining tables both in the main house and on the patio that allowed us to all eat together. And all of this within a short walk to the nicest beach on the island. Our 3 year old had no trouble with it.
The main house is old and rich with history, but has some very nice updates.
We’ll definitely return.

Fantastic Block Island house
Homey historical home with lots of space. Our family of seven (5 kids), grandma and my sister's family enjoyed this home where we walked to Mansion beach and rode our bikes to the North Light house and town. Beautiful, private lot close to the beach!

Absolutely Perfect!
I rented the compound from Emily for both personal and business use. First of all, she is an absolute pleasure to deal with. My mother's day weekend stay at her home with 8 other women in my family was perfect. All three buildings are adorable, clean, and fully stocked with everything you need (we brought only sheets, towels, and food). The beach is a short and pleasant walk away. The drive to the ferry is about 5 minutes. For us the best part was the wide open space, it really felt like we had our own little piece of heaven - close enough to everything you want but with so much privacy and space. We're already talking about a family reunion in this amazing place,

Good place for a big gathering
We all loved the location and the set up of the house. It was perfect for our writing group. I think we were the first group of the season and it seemed as if things weren't quite ready yet. That said, they were insignificant really and the hosts were very accessible and willing to fix whatever needed attention. The location was wonderful with beach access near by and Sachem Pond an easy walk away.

The BEST BI rental!
This the the BEST BI rental! We stayed here with multiple other couples and children the week of July 4th and had the best vacation and summer week. Location is ideal! Walking distance to mansion beach, a 2 minute ride to town, and walking distance to the lighthouse. Plenty of room. HUGE yard, perfect for big families. Quiet location, comfortable large bedrooms. Would recommend bringing a car- although the taxi service is very reliable and can get anywhere on the island for $7-20. Emily and Chuck were very accommodating, beautiful home. We stayed in the “retreat” house which we had a blast in- the bedroom upstairs was large, kitchen roomy, and plenty of places for people to sleep. We were able to bring our dog which you can not find anywhere else on the island. Between the large houses, yard, ideal location, and most importantly FUN experience, we can not recommend this rental enough. We will DEFIANTLY be back this summer!
