床非常舒适，屋子有一种很安心的木质香气。老板可以英文交流，我们相处的很愉快。在京都的几天让我对旅馆有了归属感。在离开那里去奈良之后，我甚至开始想念这里。哈哈。

Kyoto Ryokan Kokone Machiya This Ryokan is to be avoided at all costs. Online it lists many outright lies and half-truths. We checked in, took one look at what was being offered, and checked out immediately. We were courteous, and asked for a refund or partial refund as soon as we found out the toilet and shower were shared, but the Italian host refused to refund any prepaid money (I'd paid for a four day stay) and ALSO kept the Kyoto Precinct Accommodation Tax (this is highly illegal). BEWARE: (1) the ryokan is a VERY long walk from Yoyogi Castle (2) it is located in an ugly and difficult-to-access neighbourhood; (3) toilets and showers are SHARED; (4) showers are a precarious walk down slippery stairs with no outside handrail (impossibly dangerous for those of us who have disabilities) (5) the room is very small; (6) despite the comments on the website describing the ‘lovely breakfast’, this place does NOT offer breakfast; (7) kitchen amenities are labelled “private” even though it claims you can use them on this Bookings.com site; (8) No WIFI: I could NOT get Wifi after 5 attempts by me and the host to connect both my phone and my computer; (9) very thin walls (no sound proofing); (10) when we said we wanted to leave immediately, the host lied to us that since COVID it was impossible to call taxis (this proved to be not true). (11) when we arrived at 4.00pm instead of “around 3.00pm” because of the far longer walk from the station than was described, the host immediately expressed his irritation. I am extremely concerned that what is advertised on the Booking.com site does not reflect the property at all.

One of the owners was a bit intense. No food or drink in the room, but you can't talk in the common room after 10pm.

For lovers of Japanese architecture, this house is very interesting. It is fascinating how much can fit in a relatively small building. And as a tall person, I magically didn't bump my head once. Toni is a very hospitable host, who has put a lot of care in renovating this beautiful place.

The hosts were lovely and keen to help. The house itself is beautiful and a truly Japanese experience. The breakfast was super authentic and tasty! Very clean!

I had forgotten that the bathroom was shared. But that’s alright, everything was very clean. The place is minimalistic as expected. The beds were quite hard as thin mats, but again, that is the traditional experience we expected.
