great location, helpful staff, and quality accommodation. The gold lounge was excellent as was Taylor’s service.

I really enjoyed the selection of foods at breakfast. Bacon delicious; eggs and hash browns of course tended to be past their best unless you got to them early but still very tasty. Pastries wonderful. The 'hors d'oeuvres' served 5-7 were delicious too.

Reception and departure were quite chaotic, possibly because of computer problems. Not sure. What I do know is that it took us about half an hour to be admitted and close to that to be checked out. Our reservation was cancelled by someone late Friday evening (we were booked through 23-26 December), so we received no turn down service or housekeeping service after Friday at 6 p.m. Only the lady who stocked the minibar came every day. Needless to say this was very annoying and not what one expects from a good hotel. I didn't try to find out what was happening because I was afraid it might be a Christmas staffing issue. As it turned out these problems and our difficulty getting access to WiFi or using the phone for outgoing calls were all related to our inadvertent cancellation.

We arrived in Ottawa, there was a big thunderstorm, and when we arrived at the hotel, at 6:00 PM, the power was off everywhere in Ottawa. There was a generator at the hotel, and we were able to go up by escalator to the 4th floor to register and have our room ready.

We were not able to order anything to eat from the hotel for dinner.

Very central location in Ottawa with facilities exceeding my expextations. The staff were willing and ready to go an extra mile to to make my stay confortable.
