Loved the old style and how friendly everyone was We will be back and would stay there again

The only thing I can say is ths restaurant staff lacking in knowledge EG: all having to talk and try to sort out what a 12 ounce glass was and having to be told

Rustic & clean.

staff … at the Resturant were rude. The Counter staff were unhelpful and even though they had vacant sitting at the Window, gave us a corner seating which was a bit unkind. Didn’t have a smile or welcoming attitude or rather was a bit rude & said take it or leave it … leaving us no option but to walk away.

it is right in the middle of town

very noisy at night. Grumpy staff. Overpriced food. Poor internet connection.

The room was clean and the facilities were adequate. There are sufficient bathrooms, but I think in peak season there may be a bit of a problem. The shared coffee station could do with a fridge for the milk and more of it - there was never quite enough. It was a pleasant enough stay

We were there in the quite season and we felt very much like we were intruding. The bar seemed to just be island friends and the front desk operatior seemed to be in a hurry to get back to his friends rather than seeing his guests settled in. Everything closed early so we missed booking a night trip to Ulva Island

Ideal place to stay - location and facilities

love Stewart Island and try to go once or twice a year. the south seas is a friendly and safe place to stay esp when traveling alone. So many walks to take and spots to visit within walking distance. The food at the hotel is amazing!!!

The beds and rooms were very comfortable, and the hotel is at a very convenient location. Being above the bar and restaurant was handy too as there were plenty of options for very tasty food. Being right across the road from the foursquare was also great!

The bathrooms weren't as clean as I would have liked, and the showers weren't very private. Each shower was connected to a shared bathroom area, so you could hear people coming and going while you shower. The doors in the bathrooms also don't lock very well.
