Hospitality at its best. Such a pleasant experience to be greeted by staff at all levels. Superb quality of service. Keep up the excellent work. Great location and facilities too. Highly recommended!

Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, including complimentary upgrade to a suite room which was very much appreciated. Amazing architecture and presence on the coastline, a must stay when in Colombo.

Over all cleanliness was extremely bad both in the room and restaurant areas . No toiletries in the room and had to be asked every time. Room door lock and water taps were in bad condition. Toilet floor was really dirty

An atmospheric building with lots of history and the perfect setting on Galle Face Green. Large and stylish room with a good shower. Loved the swimming pool. Good food and drink.

Beautiful and historic hotel, with many of the original features, in the best location in the city. Junior suite was well-sized, although the view of the back of the hotel, replete with a/c units, was very disappointing. Staff are truly excellent, welcoming and professional.

The view from our suite was depressing, to say the least, especially as I had requested one of the sea or, ideally, the Galle Face Green. Still, the overall experience was positive.

Friendly staff and great location. The breakfast buffet was large and had a lot to offer. We had a nice suite overlooking the sea. Would certainly stay here again!

The hotel was very opulent, but the gardens and pool area looked weathered and dirty. The outside furniture was old and stained, which would not be expected in a hotel of this class. Rooms were comfortable and well maintained and clean.

The restaurant staff were not very attentative. Would wait some time for drinks after they were ordered. They seemed to be focusing on guests who knew would tip well! At breakfast, we would have to ask several times before we would get a cup off coffee/tea, and they were very slow at taking away dirty plates etc.

the pool bar only stocked really expensive spirits like Grey Goose but the bar in the hotel stocked Smirnoff

I love this hotel and it’s history, there is a small museum around the back. The room was beautiful and clean and the bathroom had recently been renovated. The breakfast buffet is amazing with western and local food and the staff were so friendly and helpful. My favorite part is sitting in the evening at the bar watching the beautiful sunset.

Its always nice to stay somewhere with a bit of history and you really feel it at this hotel. we came 14 years ago and it feels a bit fresher and the pool bar is a great addition. The food was amazing!! The pool cabanas right next to the see are a great touch and the service was great. The room was very clean and the shower was amazing after staying in a few hotels with terrible water pressure. They organised our morning taxi to the airport and ensured we had breakfast bags to go as it was so early which was very thoughtful.

Please remember this is a very old historic hotel so it is a little tired in places and also when we switched the main light off for night it for some reason stopped all the plug points from working in the bedroom so we couldn’t charge anything. it also stopped the ceiling fan working too. I think this was a fault in the electrics as it made no sense.

The building, the staff, the food. Everything is being taken care of. It was the start of the rainy season, but still, it felt great. Who cares, There's no beach...the swimming pool is perfect. And what a historic building! This is how a holiday should feel:-)
