Location is good - very central. Breakfast also good.
No Wi-Fi in the rooms? Seriously? It's 2024! I have been following the comments from other guests, and the management/owners have been promising to install Wi-Fi in the rooms since 2017. Still no WiFi - only in the common area in the lobby. Very poor.
Also, not even a glass in my room. I had to rinse my mouth with the mug from the coffee set.
Room was tiny. Single bed. Shower was clean but there was no rhyme or reason as to how to control the shower - I just kept turning the knobs until I got the right temperature for 30 seconds, before it got too hot or too cold again.
My room was very run down.
It's fine for a drink in the bar, or perhaps to eat there (although last orders are at 7:30pm!) but I was VERY disappointed with my stay there. Rooms need attention and overall, it just feels run down; dated.

Location
Hotel defo needs some money spent on it. Cracking walls and ceilings, deteriorating decor in lots of places. I have now stayed 3 times in different rooms and all bed mattresses needed replaced, lying on beds you can feel the base through the mattresses ! My bathroom had a sink right Infront of the loo ! I am 5ft 2" and my knees touched the sink unit so anyone taller would have had a problem fitting on the loo ! Not ideal !
Roof Lighting in the tiny lift doesn't work. 2 tiny lights fitted but very dark in lift.
Breakfast was okay but nothing to 'write home about' bit bland.
Car park surface terrible and parking was in short supply.
We attended the MacFleet Tribute band the other night and the seating wasn't put out (we were told band wanted it non seating so not hotel fault) but then people starting pulling in seats from where they could find them and it soon became apparent staff were forced to bring through seating but many of the staff you could tell were just not happy at all. A bit of a disaster. We didn't manage to get a seat so ended up going to bed early and missing the last 2.5hr of the band.

Location was great very central to Stirling city. The hotel was built 1789 and the history was very interesting. The facilities, bar and restaurant were good and the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The staff were very helpful, friendly and approachable. Room was okay for my needs and budget
Obviously there were a few issues as the hotel is so old but I feel they have done well to keep it modernised. The room was okay but cleanliness wasn’t great you could see dust where they had just wiped the surfaces in the bathroom and the window seal was broken so you couldn’t close the window tightly. Obvious wear and tear on things such as carpets in communal areas

The location was good. It was quiet, clean, had kettle and coffee in the room. Beds were comfortable. Staff was nice.
There was no wifi in the rooms, only in public spaces. The bathroom tub was long and narrow and there weren't any safety bars to hold on to - good water pressure and clean though. There was a heated towel rack, but I didn't know how to turn it on. Some light bulbs were quite dim or out. Be aware that entering from the front, there are several stairs to climb with your luggage if you have mobility limitations.

Great location & value
Cooked buffet breakfast was a little dry

Comfy and great location
Bit noisy as the walls are thin but nothing out of the ordinary for a hotel.

Central location in Stirling and nice hotel in the public areas.
No wifi in the rooms! The elevator didn't work half the time we were there, and when it did, it was excruciatingly slow, and just one to serve the whole hotel, not nearly enough. The lady at the reception wasn't particularly friendly. The bathtub was falling apart, the paneling on the side was coming off. I think this is the first hotel ever without a fridge/minibar. This was a big minus for us as we had some drinks and food we needed to refrigerate. We stayed on the 4th floor, in a tiny room with low ceilings, and it must be because the heat comes up, it got super warm.

The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. We were in an unusual situation which included lost luggage with important medicine in it. So in the middle of the night the receptionist not only helped us out tracking the luggage but also to find emergency places and did phone calls for us (because for foreigners to understand Scottish on the phone is not easy). She was great!! Unfortunately I forgot her name, but `Thank you so much!`

ideal location for what I needed
heated towel rail didn’t work and the extractor fan made such a shrieking squeal when on.
told that restaurant wasn’t open on 1st night due to a ball that was happening at the hotel, no prior notice given.

Location couldn't be better as it is very very central. Exterior is also very eye-catching.
Staff were very helplful and friendly.
1. No wifii in rooms.
2. Blinds in bathroom were constantly going back up so we could not have a decent shower without being seen by the people who live on the opposite side of the window...

Breakfast is reasonable for the price paid.
The hotel building is old and in good condition. However, I think the room we had needed a wee bit of t.l.c. It had 2 windows, one with a torn net hanging from it, better to have none if they couldn't replace it.
There was a large function in the ballroom 2 floors below. Noise carried from announcements being made late.

Excellent stay for the price paid. Hotel was clean and services were very good. Superb location.
Should have been notified that the restaurant was not opening on the first night due ro a function.

the location is very good, there is parking at the back. doesn’t look very safe but didn’t have any issues while there
went into the room and found an half empty bottle of pop. There was quite a heavy layer of dust on top of the lamp shades near the bed. The hair dryer in the room was broken and very unsafe. The plastic casing where the wire goes into the dryer was broken off. There were no backing on the tv remote so the batteries were easily lost/unsafe. We struggled to close the window, the window handle was holding on for its life. one screw to secure it which left it hanging off. I complained about the room in the morning and got told I would receive a phone call. I rung them after not hearing from them, still haven’t had a call back. I did get an offer in the morning of check out to stop in the new rooms on the top floor at a price. We were so shocked that we didn’t except

The location is great. And if you want to experience a traditional hotel, it's a perfect place!
It's an old hotel: no wifi in the rooms, my room was dark, had to wait for a while for hot water in the shower.

I went for breakfast about 9:30 am and food / cups etc was running a bit low. I had to ask twice for fresh cups, but otherwise it was a good choice.
I like to have toast and tea brought to my table, and then am quite happy to self serve from buffet. Missed opportunity to get excellent service, rather than just good!

Room was warm , clean and had superb view .
location of the hotel in the centre of town is ideal with parking available.
Cronies bar was well stocked and staff very welcoming.
On arrival we were allocated a room on floor 2 which had 2 single beds, having requested a double and was in need of upgrading.
We were then allocated a room on floor 3 which was a family room and not suited to a couple.the outlook was on to a sloping roof from both windows.
Our 3rd and last attempt at being allocated a suitable room , was on floor 5 with which we were very happy.
Breakfast was buffet style.the food was not hot enough.disappointed not to see haggis or porridge available.
The toast machine needs upgraded as it toasts only one side of the bread.
The bath had no hand grip which made it difficult to get in and out of safely.
