great for birds going on the boat trips

The hotel is tastefully set in beautiful natural surroundings. The staff team were very helpful is organising our trips & arranging breakfast to go for a very early start. Food was wonderful.

Taste breakfast. Great location! Helpful staff. The hotel arranged my 2 guided boat rides. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. I had a swim in the clean, clear, cool pool. It was very refreshing. I will stay there again when I return to Caño Negro.

The setting of the lodge was just beautiful so many wonderful birds, trees and flowers. Joseph at the Lodge was a perfect host, very knowledgeable about the surroundings and wildlife. Fabulous guy who looked after us for two days. The pool area with the swim up bar was superb. Both afternoons we had the company of a family of monkeys passing through 🐒🐵 was unreal, just perfect.

The road into Cano Negro was alittle challenging but well worth the drive when we arrived. Breathtaking

staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Joseph knocked himself out to help us find every bird and to make sure that we had a wonderful stay. Ramon at the restaurant and bar was very friendly and attentive. Rooms were spotlessly clean.

Excellent location, cleanliness of the room, friendliness of the staff, birdwatching opportunity in the garden very close to the lagoon, opportunity for boat ride on the lagoon with excellent explanation of the surrounding wildlife

That the guide from the hotel, Joseph (also working as check-in manager), shot photos from us during the boat trip w/o asking and did wether share them with us nor deleting them after several requests.

It is a very remote location near the Nicaraguan border so facilities should be judged in that light. It is run by a charming and hard-working family and staff. They work hard on preserving the ecology and attracting birds and monkeys and producing artisanal chocolate and planting cocoa trees and guests are invited to plant a tree for these purposes. They produce excellent guides for bird and animal watching on the Rio Frio. An excellent stay

The grounds were beautiful , with birds all around and even a screech owl that comes at night by our hotel deck. Very well lit and nice layout at the pool area with chaise lounges.
