Location was ideal for my work

Disco Saturday night very loud

very clean, very quiet also considering it was on a main road. breakfast was OK with a good range of choices including cooked breakfast and continental options

not much to not like. all good for my stay apart from the main lighting in the room was a little dark for my tastes. car park entry is easily missed if you aren't aware of the location. sign posting could be better.

Proximity to our required location.

Not easy to adjust the temperature in the room. While the ambient light was nice and restful there was no opportunity to have full light in the room for when needed. Noisy guests in the early hours (understandably difficult to control but nonetheless annoying and difficult for other guests).

Really like the hotel. Location, facilities, cleanliness and staff were great.

Other guests in the hotel were noisy until the small hours. We think this was because of a function held in the hotel. We could hear doors slamming, chat and banging until around 3 am.

It’s was beautiful! And such good value for money! Staff were so kind to me! And it was just a lovely hotel!

As a relatively new hotel, everything is still looking good and new. The rooms are clean, well equipped, and the beds are very comfy.

Unfortunately there isn't a plug by the tea tray for the kettle, meaning you have to move the entire tray as the kettle base is built into the tray. Maybe a lack of foresight when planning the sockets in the rooms.

Didnt book breakfast. Location excellent as bus stop outside and 7 minute ride to where bars and restaurants are.

It was clean and tidy. Beautifully decorated. The room was comfortable and had plenty of room and nice products. The staff were very friendly and helpful

The allergy information was not great. What was online was not what was told to us in the restaurant. This was a down side for us.

Modern, spotlessly-clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast, plus two eateries annexes to the hotel. 24-hour service and literally nothing was too much trouble (a special mention here for Richard - outstanding!). In a nutshell, quality stay at a reasonable price.

Television in reception was blasting out an action film on arrival, which was off-putting. The shower dispensers didn't work very well.

Smart decor, well maintained, plenty of parking. Comfy beds, lovely toiletries and a fab breakfast with friendly staff.

No plug within reach of a mirror for hair drying purposes.

Clean, great rooms with comfy beds, lovely bathroom. Everything still looks brand new and spotless. Breakfast was excellent. Great value for money.

Arriving in the dark the entrance to the car park is a bit hard to navigate.

Room was a little dark due to not having a main light and relying on lamps also as this was a twin room I was disapointed that it only had one chair

The hotel was fantastic start to finish, the staff couldn’t be any nicer! Absolutely fantastic…..food was amazing too :)

Easy parking. Decent food options so did not need to leave hotel. Lively bar / restaurant which attracts many locals a real bonus.

Very friendly staff. Excellent location, with bus to the Cente right outside the hotel. Plenty of free parking at the hotel, which you don't usually find in the City Centre

Great Hotel, superb location, with the City Centre a 15 minute bus ride away, stops right outside the Hotel. Very nice clean and comfortable rooms. Plenty of parking. Great helpful and friendly staff. Superb value for money. Highly recommended.

Nothing, all was fantastic

Very modern, finished well and clean. Well located and easily in reach of transport links, motorway and shops.

Space not utilised in the rooms, a small breakfast table would be well used in such a large space. Requested cleaners to not clean my room as I was staying 2 nights. Came back to them having been in the room, I know people may not see the problem with this but I had requested no one went in. For breakfast I ordered a melon bowl selection and got a doorstep wedge which was definitely not what I was expecting. Not overly keen on the kitchen staff attitudes in the bar when requesting certain food not put on the plate which I know the bar staff added it was ignored, also food was massively over seasoned.

The hotel is clean and comfortable, the value for money was excellent, and it felt like a 5-star hotel. The breakfast was exceptional, lots to choose from, and well worth the money.

The bar/restaurant adjoined to the hotel stopped doing food on a Sunday evening before 7pm.would have liked to try the meals but was too late.

Another great stay at Great North Hotel.

A couple of very minor issues - the shower leaked a bit which meant the bath mat was consistently wet. We also couldn't work out where to plug in the kettle as it seemed to be attached to the tea and coffee tray. Compared to other stays this room felt a lot smaller, but it was still comfortable.

Convenient location. Good value with booking discount. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable bed and room with everything we needed. Overall clean and well presented.

Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. Could hear water draining from neighbouring rooms when they ran a shower.

Second visit to the Great North Hotel - we love it for its location and easy parking. The hotel staff are always welcoming and friendly - from receptionists to bar staff and housekeepers. The rooms are large and well appointed. Although the hotel is always busy we never hear noise outside our room. Three Mile is a good restaurant attached to the hotel - it serves excellent food at reasonable prices. Good range of beers, wine and spirits.

It was all great.

I would like to thank for the staff who checked us in on the night of Dec 17th, 2024 (around 11pm - 12 am). He offered us very quick and high-quality check-in service even it was very late already and answered all of our questions patiently. Overall Great North Hotel brought me very good experience in our 3 days' stays. Below are things jt can still improve to make it even better: 1. Would be great if the room can have a big light on the ceiling instead of only bedlight, table light and the light near the wardrobe. It is indeed quite dark without a big ceiling light. Toilet actually looks very good compared to the bedroom.. 2. There are some edges and corners near the window wall side which bumped my head couple of times.. perhaps can put the bed a bit far feom the window to avoid this or renovate the room a bit. 3. Table in the bedroom is quite small, which cannot accommodate enough stuff and the space is foo squeezed. 4. When we checked out, the staff said we had an outstanding bill for some food. While we did not order any. We explained and the staff did say sorry and fortunately did not charge us anything. Might be more careful for the staff to do the billings correctly in the right room in the future to avoid such things for happening again. 5. The rug can be a bit more clean. 6. The window of the shower room can be extended so that the water won't be spit out to wet the toilet floor.

Good location. Really helpful staff, especially a young blonde lady on reception who could not have done more to help us with arranging taxis (local firms let us down 2 nights running)

Minor issue but the room had no drawers for clothes so everything was just on shelves

Staff were fantastic and the hotel was lovely. Very modern and clean and the little touches like receiving a call from reception after we’d checked in to check everything was ok was really nice

When we arrived the room was absolutely freezing

Clean and very comfortable. The staff is phenomenal and very attentive to their guests needs.
