Such a sweet spot! The owners have done a fantastic job with the landscaping and room decor. We LOVED the saltwater pool and the option of morning yoga. Easy walk to the beach and a couple enjoyable restaurants. Stay here, you will love it!

The staff, the food, the salt waterpool and the rooms are amazing. I loved the hanging chair in front of the room to rest. There are macaws and howlermonkeys in the trees next to the rooms. I had a very lovely stay and actually returned to stay there again.

SoulShine is among the top boutique hotels in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, that we have ever visited, and we have a lot of experience (I've lived in the region since 2008). Our family loves going on vacations to unique BNBs - this weekend my boys and I were lucky enough to try out SoulShine and we will be back as soon as we can go. Here are some of the top reasons we will be back to SoulShine. For the quality of stay and overall energy we felt, the price is spectacular. Based on my experience staying in all kinds of family-run hotels in Guanacaste, I could not have been happier with what we received for an extremely reasonable rate. Even though the hotel is located close to the beach in Playa Avellanas, and you have easy access to most of the best surf breaks in Guanacaste, the layout of the hotel provides 100% privacy, peace and tranquility. We stayed in a bungalow with a big bed that the boys shared and a smaller one for me. We were comfortable, relaxed, happy and felt we completely enjoy ourselves as a family. I cannot stand any noise at night and I slept extremely well because of the layout. I also love hotels that make you feel comfortable to lounge both at your bungalow and at a common area. Each of the rooms at SoulShine has a cute little patio with comfortable chairs; the gardens surrounding you make you feel at home and it's easy to drink coffee or send a few emails while sitting on the porch. The pool itself is an awesome oasis - tons of room to lounge; it's a safe and friendly place for kids to play, and they keep it in spectacular condition. You feel very happy to be there, with the palm trees swaying in the breeze. And finally - the SoulShine restaurant is an utterly spectacular addition to the experience. Their food is indescribably good in a region where we have few options for places that put true love into a menu. Their shakshooka is my absolute favorite breakfast or brunch; everything there has an extremely diverse flavor profile.

Having to leave! My boys were sad at the end of our stay and we are looking forward to returning. The family who runs this business is special; they've created a special hotel and it is a wonderful, welcoming place to visit.

SoulShine was a wonderful experience. The grounds are pretty and very well kept. Breakfast/lunch is delicious and the location is near to everything in Avellanas. The owner is helpful and knowledgeable.

We arrived in Liberia only to find out that Hertz didn't actually have a car for us even though I reserved one. We ended up getting a taxi to SoulShine for $120 USD all in which ended up being a great experience. When we arrived, the staff greeted us and made us feel very at home as we waited for our room. The breakfast was incredible and full of great options. Great value, too. The location was great for the area...very chill and a stone's throw from the beach. It was a great walk to the beach, too. Yael, the proprietress, was incredible and pulled out all the stops. She even hooked us up with a rental car that we used for the rest of our trip.

I don't really know. I guess the bar could have been kept open a little longer but frankly it didn't really matter. There's a little market around the corner so we just had drinks in our cabin and it was fantastic.

It took a bit for the staff to warm up to us, but once they did they were amazing. Not everyone will work for that. But they are all so lovely. Owners are warm and inviting. And the space is great. The shared spaces are beautiful and well maintained. Coffee all day and night!! I'm an early bird so, nice to make coffee at 5am.

beautiful grounds and pool area is just beautiful and relaxing. family friendly shallow side in the pool. absolutely fantastic breakfasts at the restaurant. We shared the shakshuka and bread one day and delicious Avocado toast with an egg and fantastic French toast the next day. their food presentation is lovely. coffee is delicious! Drinks were great too! the owner is very kind and friendly. rooms were simple but clean.

further from beach and walkable but a hike on dry dusty road but they do try to keep the dust down in front of the hotel. I knew that it would be easier to drive to beach. just a heads up to others. they are firm queen beds. I think plush king beds are harder to find here in Costa Rica.

The cabins, the pool, the staff, and the food were all spectacular. The owners have created such a special little place in Avellanas. This was one of the best places I've ever stayed in Costa Rica.

Our family of 4 stayed 7 nights at Soul Shine, a boutique hotel and restaurant. It was perfect for the experience we were looking for! Clean, comfortable, trendy, but still authentic. Great location close to Playa Avellana, an up and coming but quaint surf town. The owners live on the property with their small boys which added to the charm. They’re gracious hosts and a helpful local resource. We had our own bungalow with a queen and a double bed. The pool was big enough for us to play but small enough to keep an eye on our young children. They have a nice boutique with natural fiber clothing and beach accessories. And don’t even get me started on the cafe. We had the yummiest brunches! The French toast was a favorite of the boys and my husband and I loved the Sha-shoo-ka and surprise salad. We will definitely be back! Playa Avellana favorites: Surf Hub for gelato and board rental (next door to Soul Shine). Cactus for breakfast. Kontiki for dinner, the atmosphere is great and the wood fire pizza is delicious! Pura Vida Barre for killer barre workout! We spent many of our days just playing in the ocean- surfing and boogie boarding. We’ll definitely be back!

Construction around the property.

The room was just lovely (think that the bathroom was recently renovated - looked great). The breakfast was - although a bit on the expensive side - by far the best we had on our entire trip (prob one of the best of many of our travels). The hotel itself is located on walking distance from the beach.

Very subjective but all in all a bit too noisy for us. There were construction works going on onsite (Dec '22), would have been nice if this was mentioned before our arrival. In addition, our room (n1) was located right next to the parking lot/street/restaurant/...

its not the host or property fault however people drive WAY too fast on the road out front. we started to walk to the beach and cars were blazing by us so fast on the dirt road that my daughter had to jump into the ditch . we turned back and got our car. although the walk was very close to the beach, we feared for our safety.

Beautiful property with amazing owners, excellent breakfast. Lots of attention to details. Excellent stay for families with children as they even have a trampoline. You feel catered for, they put a lot of attention to details. Oh, and the coffee is amazing. Enjoy a really good capuccino once you arrive.

The room could have darker curtains or blackouts. There were no towels when we got our room (minor inconvenience just because I was in the shower when I noticed). Besides that it was a lovely stay.

Nice comfortable cabina with great air conditioning. Their food is amazing and the people are so caring and sweet.
