The location is too far and the roads to the properties were narrow and dangerous. That’s the only thing you have to consider when you book this property. You need to book a small car.

If you are looking for a get-away from the city-side, this property is a must. Not gonna lie, the property is located in a very remote area (I drove there, but the property also provide pick-up from Kyoto JR station). But as soon as I arrived at the property, I instantly fell in love with it. It is a traditional Japanese house that stands alone in the middle of the woods. When the 2 of us arrived, we were greeted by the nice and friendly staffs who stood ready to welcome us and show us around the property. Accordingly to the owner, the property has 150 years of history. It was spacious and comfy for the 2 of us and was also clean. After we were settled, the BBQ dinner was served, which the staff grilled the foods for us outdoor. We chose the more expensive menu (you can actually check out the menu option in their official website) and the meat was so good, the steak and pork chop is out of this world! Would definitely recommend, there is no other option anyway as the property is all there is in the area, unless you bring your own food, in that case, they have cooking facility. After the dinner, we took a bath, there is both outdoor and indoor bath. Both with a view of the little Japanese garden. At the time of our stay (April) the weather was still cool, so I took the outdoor hot bath. Transquilising looking at the woods in the dark, glazing the night sky and hearing the river flow by. In the morning, we had the Japanese breakfast, which i prefer over the western one. The food was served delicately and taste good. Afterwards, I went out to look around and see the place in the light. It was located in a valley and the morning air was so fresh. Overall it was a superb and special stay, wish I had more time at the property.

The location is quite remote from the city, around 30 min drive. So it may not be for everybody. It really depends on what you are looking for. The drive up there was a bit of a thrilling experience, esp. in the dark, considering how narrow and bendy the path is. But during the drive up there, we got to see the Kifune-jinja Shrine, which was nice.

Friendly hosts. Home made japanese breakfast was amazing. Cozy and clean property.

This place is a hidden gem in Kyoto, Japan. I was lucky enough to find it and spend couple days there. It's a magical place to spend vacation far from the city in an authentic Japanese style house and living. I will definitely come back to it and stay for more days. It's actually incredible and the fact that it's hidden among trees in high lands made it more beautiful.
