We love the hotel. Stayed there a couple of times. Fantastic location , lovely staff , great breakfast,. room amenities quite limited , housekeeping very delayed though .

Hotel location is perfect to explore the traditional side of the city. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

The hotel location is one of the best,in front of the Barcelona Cathedral in the gothic quarter. Rooftop is chic and has amazing views. The problem is that the hotel has been in renovation works for more than 3 years. We have stay the last 3 years , always sam dates and the problem is the same: work starts as early as 9 am, when steps from the workmen is heard around the floors. At 10 am, the heavy, loud equiptment start and you have to leave the hotel. Its ok if you wake up early but if you desaire some morning rest is almost impossible and annoying. Even when you are warned at the check in, you never imagine the extend of this inconvenience.

Pros: - Good, central location - Nicely renovated Cons: - No hot water - Thin walls and constant thumping noises - Poor checkin experience (reservation said 2 pm, the front desk told me it was "2 to 4") - Queen bed was 2 singles pushed together without a mattress topper, leaving an uncomfortable gap between the beds Would not stay again.

Excellent overall experience at this property. Their rooms are all beautiful and have amazing views, particularly the terrace views. Staff was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this hotel.

THIS HOTEL IS A BUILDING SITE. 2 FLOORS UNDER RENOVATION. WORK WILL GO ON THROUGH 2024 with this and other renovations in the basement. LOTS OF SERIOUS NOISE, SOUNDS LIKE PNEUMATIC DRILLING FOR MANY HOURS. OUR WALLS WERE VIBRATING. -- NO WARNING PRIOR TO BOOKING OR ON ARRIVAL ABOUT THE BUILDING WORK. -- HOTELS.COM contacted the hotel and the hotel replied that they would sort it. NOTHING WAS DONE. MANAGER CONSISTANTLY NOT AVAILABLE DESPITE MULTIPLE REQUESTS. To add to the misery only one tiny lift is working and as we were on the 5th floor, a long wait time. This is exacerbated as they open the roof top bar to the general public in the evenings. The second lift will not be back in use for months we were advised. On our first day there was no water to our room. If this hotel were honest about what is going on, it would be empty. This manager has placed his good staff in an impossible position handling the many complaints.

Hotel was absolutely beautiful! Location was perfect. Right across from the cathedral with stunning views. We walked around the entire area to get to almost every restaurant and shop we wanted to go to! Taxi station right next to the entrance was very convenient. Room was surprisingly spacious however, on our first night the air conditioning stopped working and the heat kicked on. We went to call the front desk and our phone wasn’t working. Not the biggest deal, we walked down and they said they would send a technician up to fix it. We went out for the day and when we got back I don’t think it was fixed but we only had one more night so we slept with the balcony door cracked. Wasn’t the worst thing in the world and everything else about this beautiful hotel made that small inconvenience even smaller. We would absolutely return.

Location was perfect for getting around to all the different sites. Breakfast was amazing. However, they do have construction going on and it is noisy. They start at 8am! They reluctantly gave us another room but since the floors are tile, it is pretty much noisy all over. But beautiful decor and loved the square right outside the front doo!

We enjoyed our stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely refer friends to stay here if they visit Barcelona

Can't beat love cation in the Gothic quarter. The cathedral is a huge attraction that draws in crowds of tourists . Food choices abound , shopping , walking The hotel itself is under some renovations .

Our only criticism was not being notified of the construction on the third floor and elevator, which woke us up every morning. It would have been nice to be notified so we were prepared.

Amazing place! Highly recommend!

This was a beautiful property, and the location couldn’t be beat, right in the heart of the gothic quarter. The staff were kind and friendly, and the restaurant was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Too much noise and bad noise isolation in the hotel

My friend and I stayed at this hotel over New Year’s Eve. One of the elevators was broken, and there was a huge line to use the other tiny elevator all day every day. The temperature in the hotel was set to 25 Celsius, and it was too loud outside to open windows. The front desk staff was unhelpful and unkind. The rooms were bland and beige. Overall, I was highly disappointed with the cost of this hotel. Also, the bathroom has a half glass partition in the shower. It leaked water everywhere in the bathroom. My room also had water damage and signs of mold in the bathroom and there was a weird access panel to an open shaft in the shower. The hotel is located across the street from the cathedral, and the doormen are like bouncers. I was constantly asked whether I was staying at the hotel.

There was construction going on directly above us. Was unable to rest and relax during the day. I called the front desk and went to the front desk to complain, but they did nothing like suggesting to move me to a different room away from all of the construction noise. Also, while sleeping one night, another guest used their keycard and opened my room. Startled me and woke me from a deep sleep. Obviously that should NOT be allowed to happen.

Hotel Colon was well located: walking distance to La Rambla, Barconleta. Christmas market just out front door of hotel.

It is an excellent hotel, the location, the building in the best place in Barcelona, in front of the cathedral and above all the room we selected looking at the cathedral, very beautiful, the view and the room very clean and comfortable. coffee, robes, slippers, everything a good hotel should have. The only thing was that at night there was a lot of noise on the upper floor, as if they were dragging furniture for hours. maybe a noisy guest, we never knew. Everything else excellent. I would definitely return there

Hotel Colon staff were so welcoming when we arrived at 1:00 am. Room was clean, comfortable and warm atmosphere. Love the decor!

This is a stunning property with views directly on the cathedral. I loved everything about it.

The staff is top notch. I had only to ask, and they were there in minutes; especially when I couldn't open my suitcase! It was lovely to be met by a smiling face every time we returned to the Hotel. Our room overlooked the Christmas Market and Cathedral Barcelona.

This room has NO AC and hot in the room. Problem with electrical outlet. I felt like it was my fault when they said someone is plugging a wrong one . We were in the dark 3 times. A fan was provided. This is the fact of an upgraded room. Place is front of the Cathedral location wise is great. So sorry did not meet my expectation so I had to transfer.

Came during Fira de Santa Lucia and despite all the hustle the staff was accommodating at every turn. The staff went above and beyond making us feel welcomed and gave us all the best tips to be safe and confident in a new place! Would go back many times because of that alone but the friendly staff throughout morning meals and the cleaning lady offering towels was just great!

All in all, it was a very pleasurable experience. The location was GREAT. I could not be more pleased with the location and its ambience. The only negative was that, due to the time of year, the hotel had shut off the air conditioning for the building. It was not unbearably warm but I did request a fan. Unfortunately, it did not arrive the first night that I had made the request. I once again requested a fan the next day and it was provided so the night was quite comfortable as a result. But, again, all in all it was a very positive experience.
