All staffs were very friendly. We had special meal requests that made a menu especially for us without any extra charge. Food were exceptional! The hotel can operate a half of the year as it is located in high altitude. So I thought the price is quite reasonable. The hotel offered lots of activities for guests for free. We enjoyed every minutes of it!
I thought the bathroom is bit out of dated. But totally understandable how hard to maintain it for the location.

Staff provided us with boots to go walking in the snow

Room is rather basic although beds were comfortable but room was.not warm. Japanese dinner was quite good. Breakfast was just ok.
No quilt blankets were provided. Some kind of woolen heavy blankets were left on the cabinets and not laid out on the bed.

The price we paid included snow wall walk and star gazing as well as a fabulous traditional dinner. Good value for money. Centrally located for snow wall and other walks around the pond.
The room is showing signs of age.

The location of the hotel is one of a kind. But even though it is remote, there is clearly enough transportation to and from the location to accommodate a renovation, that is sorely needed.
The hotel is brilliantly located to accommodate skiers, but they refuse to update the property to bring it to the level of what they charge. The property is run down, smelly, and outdated. With bathrooms that look like they belong in an RV. Furthermore, they use the remoteness as an opportunity to price gouge their guests for everything from soda in the vending machines to simple toiletries (which would be included at any other hotel in surrounding areas at this price point)

Dinner and breakfast were great. We can have a quiet snow-wall walk at 5. Gorgeous!
Room a bit old, without USB charger.

Location was fine -- it was the only game in town if you want to stay overnight on the mountain rather than travel up and down the same day. The buses come right into the terminal below the hotel. You can get out to the hiking trails very easily from the hotel.
The hotel was quite expensive given the condition of the facilities. Seems like they haven't invested a penny in the physical space since the 1970s. The food at the restaurant was not good -- it was a traditional Japanese multi-course meal but many of the items served ranged from tasteless to awful. (I can say that because we had many other fine Japanese meals elsewhere during our travels.) They made us make a reservation at the "bar" later that evening, but no one else was there, and yet they still charged a cover for that privilege. As for our room, it was run down, beds were soft and lumpy. Bathroom was very cramped. When we first arrived, we told them our room was quite cold (which it was) -- their solve was to give us a space heater to take back to the room. (The room temperature did get better after a few hours without the need for the space heater.) Worst thing of all was the fact that the hotel is very close to some frequent volcanic activity, with sulfur gasses being emitted periodically. On the day we were there, the gas levels were actually quite high. We could certainly smell the gasses while outside on the trail. But the gasses actually seeped through the gaps in the very old windows of the room, so that we spent the night smelling sulfur and getting a headache from the gasses. Actually it was a bit scary because I wondered if it was dangerous to our health. I think this hotel doesn't invest in new windows, or new carpets or drapes, or new beds, and serves bad foot -- because it is the only hotel up there. And yet they charge plenty of money -- sort of a monopoly.
