Everything was great. The Frontdesk staff is exceptional. They were helpful over and beyond.
I wanted to extend my stay for two more nights. I was told all sold out. Then when I was checking out I learnt half the hotel is empty. This doesn't make sense. If a Customer is willing to pay for your empty already used room you take it.

Great 3rd-time Stay at Skye.
The view from my room was the best part for me. I stayed here 3 times during the 2021-2022 ski season. Amazing view overlooking the ski hill. I didn’t want the Mt Yotei view side because I’ve paid for that view in other properties and if it’s snowing (hopefully) you will never see Mt Yotei. The night skiing was cool to watch too. Especially whilst taking a shower! (in a non-flasher sort of way) The private onsens were easy to book during this season because it wasn’t too busy due to covid and the state of emergency in March 2022. Rooms were always spotless and the bathrooms too. Heated floors were a plus once we figured out how to turn the heat down so we could stop burning our feet like running thru a parking lot on a hot & sunny day at the beach without any shoes on. The ski shop staff from Australia were always helpful and friendly and personable. It was a pleasure every day to be greeted by them. On my last night, I met a woman in a bar who was an acquaintance of my friends and she asked where we were staying and she was overly excited about us being at Skye. She worked there in the back of the kitchen washing dishes but acted as if the hotel was owned by her own family. She was beaming with pride and full of useful, positive info that the front line people seemed to lack. I think her name was Noni because it reminded me of what I used to call my Italian grandmother. She was being wasted in the back of the kitchen. Someone with her experience and enthusiasm should be at your front desk or greeting people in the restaurant because although the desk was professional, they lacked a bit of warmth or seemed to be a little fake. The restaurant greeters sometimes seemed a bit cold too. Niseko has a huge foreigner customer base and that was very obvious to me these past 2 ski seasons when foreigners living in Japan were all around town.
Ok, this is a little nitpicking of me but here goes… It’s meant to be a ski-in/ski-out hotel and that really depends on how much of the mountain is open. I was soaked in sweat a few times “skiing” to the first lift or gondola ride of the day. More like walking and carrying skis and then skating on flats to get to an incline. Snowboarding friend had it worse on those days. The week before Xmas wasn’t exactly ski-in/out until it finally dumped a lot so then it was better. And then in March, to get to the Ace Lift, you would have to climb up/down a snowbank which would collapse into running water beneath you. I watched many people fall through the snow and then their equipment went flying into the street. It’s somewhat dangerous and scary. I stayed down the hill at other properties with ski van valets that dropped us off right in front of the lifts and it was much easier. The “hot” food at breakfast sits under not-so-hot heat lamps so the food isn’t ever truly hot. It seemed like food at the business class lounge in Frankfurt Germany to me or one in London Heathrow. The cold food on the salad bar was much much better. Not the greatest pastries either. Overall, the Skye breakfast is much better than the other hotel near the gondola with better ski-in access but kind of gross breakfast. I could fill up on veggies rather than watery scrambled eggs that were almost cold. I felt that the staff didn’t know much about what restaurants or bars were actually open during the state of emergency and they couldn’t really help with that information. The town was really dead in March 2022 and they could have made a list of places that were open so then guests would know their options beyond walking around and looking for places. Skye is meant to be 5-star service so it’s not expecting too much.

Dream holiday at a ski resort
Frankly everything was perfect, the apartment was huge and stylish with amazing view of the slopes, the food was really excellent, the location at the bottom of the ski slopes was perfect, the staff were particularly friendly.
only thing is the temperature of the room which was just too hot.
