A wonderful vacation from start to finish. This house was perfect for our family of six. From relaxing by the pool to playing tennis, this property was a great place for our first family vacation since the start of the pandemic. This house was situated on a beautiful plot of land within Kohala Ranch with a great ocean view. With restaurants, shops and resorts a short drive away, this property was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the resorts, while still being very convenient to our go-to spots. Hapuna Beach, one of Hawaii’s best beaches, is a short 10-minute drive away and this house came fully equipped with all of the beach chairs and accessories you could ask for. The grounds were lush and well-maintained and great for enjoying fantastic sunsets and stargazing. Debbie and Tally were welcoming and incredibly responsive. The indoor and outdoor kitchens were both well equipped and we enjoyed many family meals at the property. The central A/C kept the 5,500 square feet of living space incredibly comfortable as well. We would definitely stay again.

My fiance and I came to the Big Island to get married. Lani Pa'a provided a great space for our two families to connect and celebrate. There was more than enough space for everyone and we made great used of common areas. We especially loved the kitchen, dining room, and back yard as it provided an opportunity to gather together and enjoy the delicious offerings of the Big Island. Kohala Ranch is amazing! We went for morning runs and got epic views of the ocean. Sunsets from the backyard left us wanting to stay on the Big Island forever. Debbie was great to work with, she got back to us quickly and was very helpful.
Only two points of disappointment: 1) A couple (not all) of the individuals at the security gate weren't very nice. There were a few instances when they did not make us and our guests feel welcome, even when we had card keys to get into the property; and 2) The showers/bath tubs drained very slowly and a few times ran out of hot water. Not a big deal overall but when you have guests, you want to make the stay as perfect as possible.

I had the pleasure of taking my entire family along for a trip to the Big Island, and while the island is of course nice, I would say that the highlight of our trip was in fact this house.
The property was immaculately clean, incredibly comfortable, and stocked with everything you need and plenty you probably don't. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. You can venture around and look at all the flowers or head down the property to the (private!) tennis court to play tennis or basketball.
The views of the ocean are incredible, and the sunsets will ensure you're back home in time to enjoy. There's plenty of seating both indoors and out, and breakfasts on the back patio are a particularly nice treat.
This property was great not only for my middle-aged self, but was quite a hit with my parents and even my toddler. It is a bit out of the way, but I view that as a good thing, and provided a perfectly-private retreat for our family during our stay. The one thing we kept repeating was that we didn't want to leave, and that this trip was just about perfect.
One thing that made us hesitate about booking the property was the proximity to a beach (or relative lack thereof). This wasn't a problem at all though, in practice. There are several nice beaches within easy driving distance and the garage at this house is stocked with umbrellas, beach chairs, coolers, beach coolers, beach wagons, snorkel sets, boogie boards, etc. Really anything and everything you could want for a daytime excursion, and then of course, the perfect place to come back, relax, and take a dip in the pool (or jacuzzi!).
Debbie and Tally were very responsive and very easy to work with. This was, by far, our best vacation home experience and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

This property is gorgeous - exactly as pictured, from the lovely spacious rooms to the amazing ocean views! We had 10 adults and 4 kids (ages 9-13). Comfy beds and plenty of towels. Everyone had their own space and never felt crowded. In fact, there were many secluded lounging areas in the common spaces inside and outside. Loved the surfing themed art-work that was classy rather than silly. We used the well-stocked kitchen extensively, including both fridges and pantry areas (costco). Everyone used the pool and tennis court daily. My husband and I went on frequent walks throughout the ranch, where wide shouldered (hilly) roads offered lovely views. It is a bit of a drive to grocery, etc. but didn't stop us from excursions. Kohala Zipline and Hapuna Beach were each ~20 min drive. Shave ice and other small eateries close by. Owners were very responsive and courteous in communications.

The Lani Pa’a home in Kohala Ranch is a beautiful, private home in one of the most stunning areas of the Big Island. It sits within a gated community, on grass covered volcanic hills that gently slope all the way to the edge of the ocean. The views are breathtaking, especially in the evening as the sun is going down, and the clouds over the ocean turn shades of red and orange. The property managers do an amazing job of communicating, and do everything they can to make your stay perfect! They even referred a shopping service that bought all of our groceries and stocked the kitchen before we arrived, saving us from that headache after flying all day. The house was exceptionally clean, and well appointed, including tennis gear, beach chairs and pool toys. It was the perfect size for our large family– my wife and I, 4 children and their spouses and 5 grandchildren. I would highly recommend staying here!

Lani Pa'a offered our family a most wonderful home for our family to celebrate our daughter's 10 years cancer free from a very serious cancer diagnosis. The home was the perfect setting, and offered everything we needed for a relaxing, fun time. There were 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 grandchildren ranging in ages from 4 1/2 - 14. We all had our own personal space and wonderful areas to congregate as a family. I highly recommend Lani Pa'a as a wonderful family home for multiple families. It is beautiful, well equipped, and the managers are very helpful. Aloha!

I rarely do a 5-star review because I've arrived at so many rentals where others rated them highly, only to find them barely average. This property is an exception.
The home: Beautifully located, exactly as pictured, overlooking the setting sun on the Pacific. This lovely, spacious home was remodeled and fully kitted out with everything gourmet chefs would need. In over 20 years of staying in vacation rentals, I've never encountered such a complete kitchen. Literally nothing was missing. The interior common rooms were large, and convivial with comfortable and tasteful furnishings and dimmer switches in the evenings. The beds were large and comfortable, with soft sheets, good pillows and plush towels, all tastefully and thoughtfully chosen. The pool and hottub were perfectly sized, scenic and warm. The outdoor kitchen had the most beautiful BBQ we'd ever seen. We were cautious to keep the powerful bluetooth speaker provided low to ensure the neighbours were not disturbed. The home is located on ranch farmland and, like all homes at the Kohala Ranch, there are critters about. However, the pest control in this home was highly effective (no roaches or centipedes like in other homes). Highly recommend the house.
The management: We arrived to a spotless, gleaming home that made us feel like we were the first ones ever to stay there (we weren't). The attention to details was remarkable from fanned towels hung in all the bathrooms to a couple of whimsical pool floaties nearby. Debbie and Tally were highly responsive, incredibly helpful and warm and welcoming. They clearly infuse their practice with true "aloha" and it makes you never want to leave. We have rented as tenants and landlords and the level of professionalism and care of this management team is very rare.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this property and management. It is exactly as pictured and advertised and your expectations will only be surpassed. Mahalo!
