freshly cooked breakfast felt like home. I appreciate the special coconut bread was a treat. the staff very helpful arranged our tour and taxi for when we didn't have a rental. Having a rental made it easy to move not only in the city but out of town where we were able to tour the maya temples. Amazing host!

The property has a Lovely terrace with stunning views of the sunrise. It is in a quiet location but just ten minutes from the city when there is no traffic. Yvette is an excellent host, ready to make you feel comfortable and at home. She can accommodate a Nice breakfast in the terrace and is ready to provide advice. I have stayed in at least five spots in Belize city and this is by far my favorite now!
If you do not have a car it can be a bit of a challenge getting to food stores

My visit Belize was in April of 2026
I arrived at the city of Belize and the beautiful airport the taxi ride to Alexander was a matter of $30. My advice to anyone visiting is to bring a few hundred US dollars in 1 5 10 and 20 and 50 bills, as the ATMs are not always working and no taxis accept credit cards.
The Alexander is a three-story guest house with open views of the Caribbean and river estuary. The host was on site to welcome me and help me and my luggage up three fights to my apartment. The host can prepare breakfast and was helpful arranging transportation or food delivery.
If you want to see more of the city, you can rent a car. Otherwise you can ride the city busses which are $2. no taxis accept credit cards, I heard there is a ride app coming to Belize called MiDriva.
There are 20 or 30 steep steps to climb so mobility is a consideration. It is at cul de sac called Driftwood, well away from the main road. There is no restaurant or fitness area; the closest restaurant is at the Grand Resort and Casino, a mile walk down the road and along the main highway.

The room was not quite clean, dishes still drying on the kitchen counter. Spider web in the shower.
