Lovely old place and great location : watched the swans go by from our bed.
Fairly easy access to the centre/cathedral and pubs/restaurants.
Bar never seemed to be open after 10 pm.

It has an amazing location for exploring the city, you park your car and the city is right there. The riverside location is lovely with a view of the cathedral spire above and through the trees. The booking was easy and the hotel responded efficiently to my questions and queries. The staff were wonderfully kind and helpful on site. Our executive room had a river view which was perfect. It was a very comfy room with a good sized tv and simple handset control. Breakfast was excellent, cooked items and continental. Delicious coffee from the machine.
The pillows in our room were far too flimsy. We could have asked for more but what we really needed were a couple of more supportive pillows rather than more of the same. The bed was quite lumpy too. The shower was powerful which was great but the shower curtain was a bit old hat. Perhaps a walk in shower cubicle would do the trick instead. A shaving/make up mirror on the bathroom wall or even a loose one was required as the mirror on the bathroom wall was some way away. We weren’t any way near late for breakfast but there were no sausages and bacon left. It took time (obviously) to cook up more. An eye could have been kept on the number of guests to cook for.

Wonderful location and building. We arrived at about 8.30’im the evening and got a fantastic greeting from the young receptionist that was on duty, she was lovely and a real credit to the hotel!!!
Unfortunately, we can’t afford to stay too often as it’s not the cheapest but, that’s what saving up is for isn’t it?!? Lol
Actually, there was a wedding on at the hotel when we stayed and it was quite noisy in bed (only with music and laughter) but sleep was a tad elusive!!

The location was brilliant. A short walk to the cathedral and a lovely view of the river from our room.
The hotel badly needs redecorating. It is a bit shabby and the decor of lots of brown looks like it was chosen in the 1980s
