Hotel am Viktualienmarkt

Very expensive for what you get with this hotel. We expected to pay a lot due to going over Oktoberfest. It was conveniently located near a platz and about a 10 minute walk from the main marienplatz train station. Breakfast was modest, room and bathroom were very small.

The location was perfection! We were out one day and it started to rain, we were easily able to go back to the room to change shoes, etc. The space in the quadruple room was great for us (2 people and we prefer more space). They provided us a fan already in the room as it was warmer than usual for the season. We were there during Oktoberfest, so pricing is very challenging, but this fit the bill really well! The bed was comfortable, and the staff helpful and welcoming. There is a small elevator, so that helped with check in and check out with our small rolling bags. The included breakfast did the job.

As is true in many European showers, these are small and tend to leak onto the floor. Our room was on the first floor, and with windows open, the noise from the street and the smoke was an issue. Nothing that kept us from sleeping, thanks to the provided fan, but still annoying annoyance. The property overall wasn’t what I would call “charming,” and wasn’t a place we wanted to relax at in the common spaces when we had a little down time. It was the only property during our nine night stay in Bavaria that I didn’t photograph.
