Padbrook Park Hotel

A good breakfast

Rooms are dated, no air conditioning, no individual toiletries anymore.

This was a last minute booking for us as the place we'd booked in Exeter wasn't suitable and we only found out when we got there. We booked a family room at Padbrook and got there 40 mins after booking. Lovely Sarah at the reception already had us ready to go on the system and we were checked in very quickly. Padbrook is a large estate and from my walking around was once a bustling hotel, restaurant with a sports and massage outbuilding amongst other things. These days, only the hotel is in operation and I felt sad about that. We were so tired when we got there, we couldn't face going out to dinner. Lovely Sarah gave us some brochures and when our takeaway did arrive, she warmed plates for us from the kitchen, brought us cutlery and said we were welcome to sit in the restaurant and have our dinner there. (Side note - we ordered from Royal Spice and it was by far the worst Indian food we've eaten in the UK. Our curries were full of sugar (???) and the naans were so thick, they looked like car tyres) The room we had was a family room with a large king bed and two single beds for the kids. The area of the room itself was huge. The room and bathroom were basic, with old school carpet, but very clean and everything we needed was there. The shower pressure was AWESOME! There is an electric car charger on site. We only stayed a night on our way back to the East of England and it was a comfortable night. The next morning, we had breakfast which was included in the price of the room. Lovely fresh fruit, yoghurts, muffins, local honey and bread for sweet options. Hot tea and coffee and a fully cooked breakfast were available. Again, lovely Sarah was there to look after us (she assured us she had had a sleep between checking us in and breakfast). She was joined by Jane who was equally lovely and attended to the breakfast area. Sarah brought us Oat milk for a non-dairy option and we had a very satisfying breakfast that kept us going for a while.

It's just on the outskirts of the town and walk into town involves walking on the footpath by a fast road (60mph) so be careful if you have kids.

Brilliant breakfast. Easy check in, despite being late in the evening. Attention to detail was impressive.

Lack of sockets near the bed. That's the only thing I would change.

The Staff were amazing , the Lady on Duty on Reception and Bar couldn’t do enough for us . She was great. Breakfast was fabulous .

When we arrived we were informed the Restaurant was closed . After a long drive it was a disappointment. However we were able to order in a takeaway .
