We had a very pleasant stay at Gili Air Escape. Check-in was quick and easy, and they even accommodated us earlier than expected. We were welcomed with a drink and, from the very beginning, the staff were warm, hospitable and genuinely friendly. The bungalow was spacious, clean and nicely designed, with high ceilings and a beautiful open-air bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and came with two different pillows, one softer and one firmer, which was a nice touch. There were enough power outlets, a fully stocked minibar, a working safe and reliable Wi-Fi. The location is quiet while still being close to the centre, and the beach is only around a 5-minute walk away. The pool was nice and the property also had bicycles available for getting around. I would definitely recommend renting an e-scooter while staying on Gili Air. It is inexpensive, very practical and also a lot of fun. The accommodation does not have a charging point for them, but the rental company can simply replace the battery or scooter when needed, so this was not really an issue. The biggest highlight of the stay was definitely the staff. They were always available, helpful and genuinely nice people, and they significantly improved our overall experience. They even helped arrange a private snorkeling tour for us with two very friendly locals, which turned out to be a great experience. Overall, the value for money was excellent — around 9.5/10 for us. I would very likely stay here again.

The air conditioning took a little while to cool the spacious, high-ceiling bungalow, but worked well afterwards. Water pressure was low, which is understandable on a small island with limited fresh water. Breakfast was good but had only a few options, and coffee was French press only, with no cappuccino. A few ants appeared in the open-air bathroom, which felt normal given the open design and did not bother us.

Bicycles can be rented for 50,000 IDR per bike per day. We really appreciated having this option, but the bicycles we received were not in the best condition. A little maintenance or an upgrade of the bikes would make the experience even better. * The pool itself was absolutely lovely, but the water was quite warm, so it was sometimes difficult to cool down after being outside in the heat. Slightly cooler pool water would be perfect.

The staff at Gili Air Escape are so attentive, friendly and welcoming. They're so happy to help with anything they can. This is the best part about staying here. The huts themselves are fine although basic, the pool was a nice size and breakfast was pretty good, the cinnamon smoothie bowl was tasty.

After reading all the amazing reviews I was quite disappointed with our stay. The wifi doesn't work in the rooms, the tv only had preloaded things to watch on a USB stick - no live channels and certainly no Netflix etc. The bikes available to hire weren't of very good standard, one squeaked and both had quite flat tyres. The towels provided had marks on them also. We werent aware the items in the fridge werent complimentary so this was an unexpected charge on check out. My partner found a few ants in our bed, there was a HUGE spider in the bathroom (appreciate this isn't the fault of the hotel but just a warning). We were woken every morning 3.30-4am by the prayer call and the cockerels. The positive to this is that we were up in good time to watch the sunrise which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Air conditioning doesn't work during the day but fine at night.
