Staff were aware of our needs and provided these without us needing to ask. The hotel was efficiently run. The breakfast was excellent. Our bed was comfortable and the room quiet even though it faced the road. The location was perfect for walking to the theatre and all the venues for the excellent Sidmouth Science festival.

The Woodlands is a lovely, welcoming hotel, run by extremely friendly and helpful owner/staff. It is a short walk to the seafront, nice and quiet, with comfortable rooms.
A highlight of our stay was the Breakfast, with the array of options, the room presentation, speed and courtesy of the staff and not least the quality of the food, which was excellent
Also noteworthy is the self serve bar/garden room, which operates a relaxed, self-serve honesty system.

For the money, the breakfast was disappointing. Very basic but not what you’d expect for £275 a night.
There were no staff visible on Sunday evening, the bar worked on an honesty system which, once we got the bill (£16.50 for a bottle of cider, a can of Sprite and some nuts!) made us reconsider our ethical stance!!!
