My Friends

I'd like to thank Lisa for her hospitality! I booked the 4-bed female dormitory and really glad I did. I lament not staying long. The accommodation is clean, especially their bathrooms. In the 2nd building, there were enough bathrooms (with wash and shampoo) for all of us and each woman was careful of everyone's space. We're also happy chatting with one another. The kitchen is probably my favorite place to be. You can prepare your breakfast there, so many of us cook some pasta, scrambled eggs, and prepared toast. Coffee and tea, too. We have lockers, but each one of us has to bring our own locker. My Friends is also about a 5-min walking distance to Firenze SMN, and many attractions. 10/10 for me!

About the smell of toilet

It's a nice place, and really good value for the price. Very well located, less than 10 minutes from the station, and then close by to the main attractions. The check-in process was really quick and straightforward. The staff is incredible, she handed us a map and recommended us plenty of options to visit for sight seeing, shop and eat. Since we arrived the property early than the check-in, they offered us a luggage storage option for free, so we left our bags there while we visited the city. We went to a mixed room of 6 beds, and the experience was good. Fortunately the other guests were also quiet and clean. There are only 3 bathrooms for the whole property, but it didn't feel like a bottleneck at all. While we didn't use it, the kitchen looks pretty well equipped as well, with plenty of things to snack and eat, especially pasta and sauces. After we did the check-out, we were allowed to leave the bags there as well, so we could go out and spend a bit more time freely around the city. I totally recommend this place to explore Florence.

At least the bathroom that I used for a shower looked a bit small to change there. Also, it would be nice also to have some places to put the phone during the night while charging it. This is not a complain actually, just an idea to improve the comfort.

There were a couple of things I liked: The location is very close to the train station (2/3 blocks away) The kitchen has some amenities that you can use for free (expreso machine, corn flakes, pasta and tomato sauce) The staff is friendly and provides recommendations on places to go or how to move around. You can store your luggage for free after check out and if you arrive before your actual vheck in time you can storage it with them until exactly check in time. They give you towels for no additional cost.

The price is a bit higher than standard I believe that is because the amenities they offer for no extra cost but you end up paying for them on the high fare, I discovered there are more options at a cheaper price. This is the most strict hostal I have ever been in terms of check in and check out, there is no flexibility at all in terms of having an early check in. There was a guy who arrived 20 minutes before the actual check in time and they didn’t let him get in the room until 3:00 PM . I believe that is nonsense if the bed is empty, ready and clean why would they won’t let anybody have an early check in? There is a city surcharge that they basically force you to pay in cash and it is 4€ a night, the bad thing is that they never state in their post that it needs to be cash only. Which seems to me very old fashioned considering you are paying a higher fare already for the place being a hostel and not giving the opportunity to pay by card. You can pay even in a shop 4€ with a card but not here. The vibes in general are very old-fashioned. It is not a social hostel at all. There is no 24/7 reception either.
