Lyth Valley Country House - Ridgestone

We came here for a 60th birthday. There were 18 guests and we had a great time making good memories. The house was very suitable for large numbers of guests. There were plenty of space. The rooms were immaculate and well designed. We brought a dog who loved the big garden, however the garden wasn’t fully enclosed. The house was not far from Kendall and Windermere in the car. There was a great view from the balcony. We had a nice host who was happy to help with any problems.

I felt the bar and kitchen area was nice but it could have done with a deep clean. There was a dishwasher which was good but no dishwasher tablets so we had to go and get some when we arrived. When we got there, there was not a key for every room so some of us had to share as there was a master key which was not the most organised. there were some rooms which had plumbing problems, for example in my room the toilet water was constantly running all day and night. Although Kendall and Windermere were a close drive away, the house is on the main road and not close walking distance to shops or pubs. The steps down to the hot tub were not the safest as each step was quite steep and unstable.

Size, location and lots of communal space . Bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely (some need a bit of basic maintenance)

Communal areas (esp the bar) are great to have BUT need updating/refreshing and the kitchen needs a through deep clean etc

The open plan living room was perfect for the children to run around. The outside verandah with beautiful views was amazing to sit and chill on. The children loved playing in the fields, such a fabulous place to stay and a bath in most bedrooms was a treat. I would stay here again. Windermere was only 15 minutes away for a drive out. My family highly recommend this place.

The location was stunning and the host was super friendly and eexplained to us which way the sunrise would start in the morning which we were able to enjoy the next day . As mentioned the host was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast absolutely exceeded our expectations and was lovely. The portion sizes were perfect and the views were breathtaking.

The only issue we found was that after spending the evening in Windermere (for tea), I attempted to take a lovely hot bath (as this luxury was the main reason we chose this property)... however there was no hot water in the shower or bath from about 7pm until the morning time. We let the water run for a while to see if it would warm up, but it didnt. We also did not know where to find or how to contact the host for assistance. As a result, we were unable to take advantage of this luxury that, as mentioned earlier, sold this property to us over all the others. We only stayed for one night and due to the very early breakfast and checkout, we were not able to use this facility in the morning after finding the water was hot (due to the lack of time). To conclude, the lack of hot water in the evening/overnight was unfortunately a real upset for us.
