Suite was lovely , but would have liked a separate shower in the bathroom.

An old building…lovingly restored to comfortable quirky accommodation and facilities. Central location with easy access for shopping and restaurants. Lovely bedding and toiletries. Staff made our visit. They were great! Reception were very welcoming and efficient. Especially Lucy who went over and above to make sure we were happy in our stay. We had booked to use the Spa which unfortunately was out of use due to an unforeseen issue which we had not been made aware of. Lucy promptly offered us a bottle of Prosecco for our room as compensation. A fab unexpected treat! She also organised our leaving taxi to the train station and dealt professionally and courteously with the company when they were late. Great job Lucy! Mark from Maintenance and the evening doormen were chatty and made us feel so at ease and welcome at this hotel whenever we were in and out of the foyer. Breakfast was cooked to order hot food and buffet continental. Overall we had a lovely overnight stay. Thank you.

Unfortunately it was noisy at night from neighbouring bars even with secondary glazing. May have just been because it was Freshers week and where our room was situated …second floor facing Wetherspoons 212. Hot breakfast although tasty and cooked to order , took ages to arrive. Waiting staff in the restaurant although pleasant were not as welcoming and attentive as expected for a 4 star hotel. There was no explanation of how the service worked and any conversations were short. It may have just been a busy morning and we were in after 9…..But we did feel a little rushed being asked to take anything else we wanted from the buffet as soon as our hot food was served to the table.

The bed

Booked a spa weekend. With no spa. Came from newcastle so had already paid for hotel and booked flights then find out spa was closed. Total waste of weekend and money
