Muthu Clube Praia da Oura

We got a free upgrade to a Seaviews apartment which was lovely. The beach is pretty, and there are also a couple of quite little coves, one with a cute beach bar ( not part of the hotel). It was a world away from the nearby strip which is noisy and brash, but easily avoided. We had a car and enjoyed east day trips to Loulé, Tavira, Silves and Lagos. The staff were really helpful. We particularly liked the sky bar for an after dinner cocktail ( not included in the all inclusive but worth it ). The food was surprisingly good, especially as some of the reviews say otherwise. Plenty of choice, including for vegetarians. We ate in the Indian and Italian restaurants both of which were excellent.

This is a big sprawling hotel. You could be next to the beach like we were, or a good 10 minutes away. It’s a walk outdoors to any of the restaurants so not great if it’s raining ( although we had lovely weather so not a problem). Everywhere has cobbles, so not great for my mum who has a mobility scooter ( we found that everywhere in Portugal has cobbles, which is part of the charm, but just something to bear in mind if you’re not very mobile. The grounds are well kept, but the hotel itself is showing its age. The Ocean bar seemed to attract the all day drinkers, but overall we felt the hotel had a nice atmosphere and where we were was very peaceful.

Breakfast was good…. Lot of variety on the menu A little of everything for everyone…..

The property itself was fantastic. It is situated right at the beach, which is what I was looking for. The staff work hard to keep it very clean, and the facilities are regularly maintained. The hot tub is drained and cleaned every evening. We had a breakfast plan and the hot food was hot, and the cold food was cold at the buffet. There was always plenty of food available. The property is close to so many places and activities that you may want to check out in the Algarve.

If you are going to Albuferia for a party, it’s a perfect location. If you have children, or prefer to sleep, it may not be your perfect location. The pounding bass of the music at the nearby pubs begins just after 11:00 pm. and continues until after 2:00 am. It’s a youthful crowd at the main pool, who are extraordinarily skilled at constructing four or five word sentences of four of five letter words. The other pools are quieter and more suited to young families and the more seasoned crowd, though the sun doesn’t reach them as long. Because the hot tub is drained every evening, it’s not heated, so can’t really be considered a hot tub. The pool isn’t heated either, so it’s cool in October, but refreshing for the high 20-30 degree temperatures we had.
