Excellent central location, right in the middle of Oban. Staff absolutely fantastic - welcoming, professional, dedicated to ensuring customers have a pleasant stay. Beautiful view over Oban bay from my room on the 5th floor. Recently modernised bathroom. Only paid for breakfast for 1 night but it was a fine cooked breakfast, although bit on the expensive side at £14.95 as an add-on. I paid for a standard single room but must have been upgraded as I ended up in quite a spacious double bedroom.
Some aspects of the interior of the hotel feel quite dated. Top floor had a leak in the ceiling with buckets to collect any drips. As this is a very old building refurbishment must be quite difficult and costly, but I hope the hotel's new owners could address these issues.

Central location was good. Breakfast was ok, but ran out of some options
Beds were uncomfortable, its so important to get a good sleep. Hotel in general needs updating, i visited 20years ago and it literally has not changed (with the exception of the staff), threadbare carpets, still using key to lock /unlock room door.
Sometimes old can be quaint and charming, this unfortunately is not.
