The Tobermory Hotel

Everything. The room and hotel location. Breakfast was great and staff very friendly. We got upgraded to a lovely seaview room which was very comfortable and clean.

It was on the front street so very handy. The room was small but that’s to be expected for single occupancy. Breakfast was a very relaxed buffet style with plenty of dietary options. Staff were very friendly. For all I didn’t have a sea view, the view was still nice and leafy.

I found it tricky having enough surface space but maybe I just had too much stuff! The shower cubicle actually in the bedroom was odd but it worked.

It’s right on the front @ Tobermory , a really lovely room. Clean & very comfortable.

Last time I stayed the breakfast was made to order, just a buffet now. The breakfast was decent but better to be as it was pretty dry my first morning ( went about 9am) The music at 7.30 in the morning was way too loud & completely wrong choice . Staff complied when I asked for it to be turned down.

The hotel was well placed on the waterfront. The room was clean. The breakfast was good. The wifi worked well for our phones and the television.

The room was on the second floor. The only evacuation route was via the single main staircase, which had no fire doors between the ground floor and the top floor. The room doors were not fireproof nor were they smoke-sealed. I did not feel this was safe, even though it may have complied with regulations. There were no fire instructions in the room. The laminate floor in the room was cold and unwelcoming. The only heating in the room was an electric wall heater. This was complicated to operate and there were no instructions. However, it was effective. The floor sloped, not unusual in a building of that age, however the drawers on the dresser kept opening randomly because of the slope and we had to jam them closed with folded paper. The mattresses were extraordinarily hard. It would have been no less comfortable to have slept on the floor. Some of the lights did not work. The shower was effective and as warm as we wanted but the shower head sprayed water in all directions on every setting. This needs attention or replacement. There was no welcome booklet.
